My boyfriend ordered the Sushi Regular which came with a selection of sashimi, a California roll, soup, AND a salad. We also had the Jalapeno Hamachi as our appetizer. Strong recommendation. From our last visit, service was excellent as we enjoyed six rolls, edamame, salmon teriyaki and ahi bowl. The spicy edamame really sings and is worth the upcharge. We really liked the Godzilla roll, the dragon roll was a close second. Really, all the sushi rolls are pretty good and great for sharing. The salmon teriyaki was amazing, again. No restaurant in Lakeland does salmon as well. It's perfectly char-grilled & their teriyaki really works in the dish. The ahi bowl looked good, but my son wasn't sharing! My husband and I decided to try New Moon Sushi for lunch based on their reviews and we are glad we did. We are planning on coming back for dinner one night. We arrived soon after they opened and were seated immediately. They have inside seating and patio, and it's nicely social distanced. The servers were very sweet and were cleaning up constantly. They became busier as the time went on and had a lot of to-go business. It was quite cute inside. We had the shrimp shumai for an appetizer and it was delicious. It came out fresh and hot, and it was shrimp but not fishy. My husband ordered the miso soup and the Godzilla roll and I ordered the lunch special: 2 rolls (Orlando & Eel) and soup (onion/clear) for $10. The soups were good. The miso was typical, if you like it, you'll like this one. The onion/clear one was surprisingly peppery and I really liked that surprise. Everything was fresh and delicious. I had to add the picture comparing the sizes of the three rolls. The Eel was a normal size, the Orlando more of a typical "American" size, and the Godzilla? Well, it was truly a Godzilla-sized bite! I laughed at my husband trying to eat that one, and then he gave me a piece and laughed at me. I love this place! The prices are extremely reasonable and much lower than other decent sushi places in the area. Also, there's like four pages of sushi choices and almost half of them have cooked or vegetarian options. There's no way you can go here and not find a sushi that you really enjoy. This is the best place to go for someone who's new to sushi and they're not sure about All the ingredients that are new to them. I was just blown away that there were so many options for cooked sushi items and how fresh and quick they make everything. Everyone in the restaurant is extremely friendly and they are very accustomed to to go orders so you don't have to worry about it taking longer because you ordered to go or having inadequate packaging. read more

We recently moved to the area and tried it out. We noticed upon walking in that we are unable to sit at the sushi bar to eat... at a sushi restaurant. It's messily covered with all the takeout packaging supplies. We were seated in a very loud dining room with sports on the tv, giving us more of a sports pub feel. Not relaxing. The food is pretty good. We liked the tunacado. But they lost us by charging us $.50 for a side of spicy mayo for dipping. The waitress did not mention there would be a charge. Spicy mayo is not a luxury ingredient. We have never been charged for it anywhere else, especially when we are already spending $80+ on appetizers, multiple sushi rolls, and a sashimi dinner. Walked in at 830pm on Tuesday the 25th and the greeter advised they were already closed. On the door it listed 9 pm closing . Six people standing around doing nothing . I guess the owner is not interested in making money . This is not how you run a restaurant business. I will tell everyone I know that this place is Garbage and will never go here. What a great find! Sushi was absolutely amazing. They have a wide range of Japanese craft beer as well, who knew there were so many beers to choose from! I had the Hana roll which was amazing and the crunch salmon roll. They were equally so good. We also tried the Mexican roll and the mango tango roll. I've been here at least half a dozen times. Nice looking place. I like the vibe. Staff are friendly. They do takeout. Their sushi overall is fine. Imo sushi should be cooler. A little too warm for my liking. Still never got sick from it though. I would like if they added black seaweed to the menu and didn't grind up their fish super fine in the spicy rolls. Also tempura in a roll imo is better on one side instead of being mixed in. Tuna tataki is not the best. Need less time for sear, more pink, thicker slices and a crusted sear on the outside like a blackened pepper. Soy paper is an up charge, $1 I think. The soy paper needs to be rolled tighter or damp to hold the rolls together like seaweed. Chicken tempura could be larger pieces so not to be as dried out. This is not a cheap place so it's a little pricey. For the price and food I'd go to my other sushi place, but it's usually too far of a drive so I settle for this place. If they stepped it up a bit then I'd come here more often. read more

I just realized I have never reviewed this restaurant and I don't know how! If you are looking for a sushi place in Lakeland then you found it. I have tried multiple sushi restaurants around here and this is my favorite! My favorite rolls are the volcano, Philly, and the Lakeland. For an appetizer, the tunacado never disappoints. The only thing we probably won't get again was the crab rangoons. The cream cheese was all melted and soupy with a grainy texture so we won't be ordering those again. I am a die hard Wasabi PC fan- and sushi is one of my favorite foods! So even though I'm loyal to Wasabi here in Plant City, I decided to drive to Lakeland to try out New Moon. They seemed to have a lot more options on their menu. We started out with a Tunacado... The waitress spoke very highly of it, and she was right- It was FANTASTIC! You MUST try it if you like avocados! We followed that appetizer with a godzilla roll, Mexican bubble roll, Tampa roll, dynamite roll and out of control roll. The first three listed are fully cooked rolls- and they were good, but they were just a tad bit bland to my liking. The Godzilla roll had whole deep fried soft shell crab which was nice! The Out of Control roll was our absolute favorite... It was just bursting with flavor! We finished off with dessert, a tempura fried banana with green tea ice cream. You can get red bean ice cream too. They have mochi and fried cheesecake if you're not a fan of bananas. Very tasty! Overall, service was super fast and friendly. The food is very good, depending on what you get and what you like. I would eat here again, but I'll stick with all raw rolls next time! read more

Tried to eat here and the hours posted said 8:30pm closing time. Arrived at 8:15pm and offered to eat extremely quick and was turned away and offered to-go only. To the owner: I was planning on spending over $100 but perhaps the restaurant is doing well enough that you didn't need the business. I would recommend changing your hours to reflect actual closing times so people aren't being turned away after making the trip to your restaurant. It is very frustrating, awkward and embarrassing for the customer. That being said, I have no plans to return since the hours are inaccurate and I was rejected while there were other people still eating in the restaurant. read more

I started my meal with the two sushi roll lunch meal which comes with salad or soup. I chose the Chicken Teriyaki Box for lunch. The chicken teriyaki was served in a bento box along with rice, salad with ginger dressing, two gyozas and a spring roll. Yum....yum! My meal was freshly prepared and delicious. Sushi was great and my 2 friends enjoyed the vent lunches they ordered as well. Service was very slow so if you are in a rush I would think twice. Will definitely go back for another lunch sushi date with the girls. Mexican Bubble Roll-This was a favorite of the entire table and even though it has jalapeno it was not spicy at all to all 4 of us. No raw seafood. Very disappointed. I have been a customer since Kay ran the restaurant originally and it was the best sushi in town. Went today and ordered sushi nigiri and sashimi. THE SUSHI RICE WAS NOT SUSHI RICE! It was clearly long grain rice, was not seasoned at all (vinegar) and fell apart immediately. Sprinkling some sesame seeds on regular rice does not make sushi rice. The sashimi was sliced incorrectly. They were thick chewy chunks instead of thin slices. I am not sure what we are and paid for but it was certainly not sushi. If you want a bunch of crazy rolls covered in sauces and toppings so you cant tell if the components are properly made, this is your place. However, if you want correctly made sushi or sashimi, do not come here. read more

We ordered pork gyoza and 4 rolls. Spicy tuna, philly roll, Lakeland roll and beauty and the beast roll. The menu is HEAVY on cream cheese rolls. I'm not anti cream cheese, but it's a little overkill on this menu. Also the cream cheese tasted weird. Maybe it's not the best quality or maybe it just picked up the odor of the fridge, either way it made each roll taste a little off. The spicy tuna was delicious!
