This is a great spot to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The outdoor area is spacious and super cute. Two outside areas to pick from but my favorite is the upstairs tiki bar. They have really good food too! But mainly we go for the fresh lemon presses. Not far off the bike trail so we bike there all the time. Definitely a place to check out. read more

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and they have an outdoor bar with ample seating area but the cheeseburger I ordered was the worst one I've ever had! It was a microwaved frozen gray patty . No seasoning at all and it had no flavor. Onion rings were good but I have had better gas station burgers. read more

After driving past this place a million times, we made our way over for dinner with a couple friends the other night. It was unclear how exactly service worked, but apparently there's quite a few options. If you sit inside or at the patio bar, you will be waited on. Anywhere else you order with the bartenders and take it back to your table. If you want food, you'll be given a pager and you can pickup your food and bring it back outside. I saw a guy busing tables while we were waiting on our friends so we emptied our baskets and stacked them on the table when we left. We sat on the middle patio near the silo bar and had a great time. It wasn't as crowded and loud as the upper patio with the live music and tiki bar, but you could still hear the music just fine. As it got dark, the lights came on and it was super cute and festive on the patio. They've also got a front patio and a row of lawn chairs on the hills. Parking is a free-for-all and a lot of it is on an angle. We came for food and enjoyed about 90% of what we ordered. We were charged different prices than what was listed on the menu, but ultimately let it go. With the exception of the appetizer, it all seemed fairly priced but I wish it was listed as such. Our entrees were tasty and ginormous portions. We also ordered a combo basket, which was trash - only the mushrooms and onion rings were good. Both burgers were delicious, but mine wasn't cooked as I requested. There's a reason this place is always busy. It's a local joint for sure, a little divey but I felt weirdly at home. Good prices and good food and drinks. If you haven't tried the fresh squeezed vodka lemonades you are missing out! I rode my bike out tonight and had the broasted breaded tenderloin. It was huge! I couldn't finish it, but every bite was great. Awesome outdoor tiki area with a bar and a newer stage area with live music and another bar area. I do wish it was a little bit more of a dive bar. They've classied things up with real plates and the prices went up a bit on some of the food. Still a great place. read more

Great beer place. The view is always great of the river. If you have ever been to a great dive bar this one is it. The roof patio still has an amazing view. You will find area locals , bikers, and bicyclists. read more

This seems to be a biker bar with not much on tap for beer. When I walked in, it smelled like hardcore beer and cigarettes and the whole environment was kind of gross, with beer spilled on the floor and dirty bar and tables. I met a friend and sat outside on some patio chairs that had gotten wet from the rain. We drank a beer and the whole setting was not very good. The people around us were cussing and some were yelling. Definitely not a place I would like to go back to. read more

Such a hole in the wall tavern that we went back TWICE in ONE day!! We did not go in the actual tavern, but enjoyed drinks on the "roof" patio and by the silo bar! They had live music with"palm trees" and tropical decor. Definitely our new favorite stop on the cedar valley bike trail! read more

Don't be fooled by the word tavern because this place has great food! Homemade dish specials as well as the regular sandwiches. Tenderloins, cheeseburgers, Rueben's and fries are all delicious! Great outdoor spaces to enjoy warm weather and when you have to be inside you can watch the river from your table. Worth checking out! read more

This review is all about the bloody mary's we had at The Shack yesterday. They were made with something that came out of the soda gun and were kind of pink, but they didn't taste like tomato or anything else you would associate with a bloody mary. Great space behind the bar, nice place to watch the sunset and get some fresh air. Service not so great- the bartender brought me my check and immediately started arguing with me about what I asked for unprompted, and she was wrong. She did end up fixing it but it was really weird. read more

Noticed this place a few times while exploring the area along the river. I thought it was a great, quiet location with a nice view of the river, so I was very hopeful. I can't even say the service was bad, because it was non-existent. After we walked in and sat down for nearly 10 minutes, one of our party had to walk up to the bar and ask if the kitchen was open because nobody had even acknowledged us sitting there. They gave him a few menus to bring back to the table. After sitting for another 5 minutes, he went back up to ask if we were going to get a waitress, to which they said we would. After waiting another 10 minutes without even a glace from one of the waitresses or bartenders, we decided it was time to leave. We wasted over 25 minutes and didn't even get acknowledged by any of the staff here. This place had good reviews online, so I was extremely surprised at how terribly we were treated. If you are not a regular and are trying for the first time, I would strongly consider the risk of driving out here only to have to leave hungry and/or thirsty. I wouldn't waste your time - find a different place! read more

Had been to The Shack on a few occasions, was usually pretty good, and the Lemonade Presses are exceptional! But on this occasion, was the worst service I've experienced in years. Bartenders catered to the owner and their friends, ignoring customers throughout the evening, they had boasted of their broasted chicken (which was one of the reasons we went there on a Tues. night) to find out after ordering they were out of broasted chicken, two of their fish dinners, multiple wraps and sandwiches. We ordered again and waited an hour and 30 minutes (after checking on our food order) for our nachos and chicken drummies to find they were cold. At one time, there was not one clean table or counter area, with plenty of down time to take care of it; we watched people come in/up and then leave because of not being waited on and no where clean to sit. We enjoyed the outdoor environment, but the lack of service by the bartenders and wait staff was so noticeable, that other people left not to be served at the bar or tables. Too bad, the atmosphere is neat and there is a lot of potential there! read more
