My daughter had a severe systemic reaction after the injection of the anesthetic - that we later learned had entered her bloodstream. We were told due to an error on how it was administered by Dr. Farid Mastali. The office did not call 911 until after almost 2 hours of my daughter suffering the effects. BEWARE! TL;DR: They threated to hold my record for a bill they NEVER told me about! They're also threating to send to collections over a bill didn't know about. I want to start out any issues I've had with this office is with the back office and not the dentists themselves. I went to this office last year and had work done and no issues. I paid what they asked and left. I moved about 4 months later and recently wanted to start work with a new dentists. I reached out to New Smile to get copies of my Xrays. They told me they would send them over in 24 hours and left it at that. I called the next day because I needed them for my appointment. I talked to Holli and she asked me for my address right away so they could update there records. I was confused because I just wanted to xrays emailed over. She then informed me that I had an outstand balance with them from the year before. I was very confused because no one has called, mailed, or emailed me before this. (everything I filled out before starting with them) I told her okay and gave my address and asked for her to send me record over. She told me "No, I can't send anything over until you pay your outstanding balance" . I replied saying that doesn't sounds right because they're my records and I need them today. She put me on hold and told me because I was working with her that she will send them but I have two weeks to pay this bill or it goes to collections. Idk about you but I don't aways have $655 hanging around to pay a bill in two weeks. I can't believe an office would just do this. Being so rude and trying to withhold my record for a bill I didn't even know I had. I talked to my new dentists office and they informed me this is legal to hold ANY records even with an outstanding bill. I wouldn't send anyone to this office they have lied to me and been nothing but rude on the billing team. I never even said I wouldn't pay the bill. BEWARE this place double bills. My dentist retired and moved his patients to this location, so our family wanted to give them a try. However, after treating all 3 of us for a routine cleaning and exam which is paid for by insurance at 100% I received a bill for over $300. I spoke to Holly whom explained that our old dentist did not re-establish a contract with insurance company before he retired but we were not warned of that before being treated. I checked my EOB from dental co. and they did in fact pay them all but $20 on that claim. Holly tried to make another excuse as to why I was being billed for routine free appt and then hung up on me when i questioned this. Very unprofessional staff and I will not be back. read more

This 1 star only belongs to the receptionist admin named Sharifa. Not sure if the spelling. I called 5 days ago just to get the name of someone they already referred me to. I lost the referral and called to just get the name and number. She told me she'd have to talk to the Dr. To get the information and would get right back to me. She didn't. So I waited till noon the next day to call her back and she told me she hasn't forgotten me but she still has to touch base with the doctor and she had me on her list. I explained to her that there was a time crunch to just make the booking before the end of the year so I could use the rest of my benefits for the year and all I needed was the referral name and the phone number. She literally said I will get back to you when I have the information. And her tone was somewhat disturbing. So the rest of the day went by and the rest of the next day and still she hasn't called me. I'll be surprised if she calls on Monday, and I've already went ahead and booked another dentist and another doctor to put my posts in. I'm a big customer service person and I have never spoken to anyone with the tone that she spoke to me making me feel like she was punishing me for calling back and not trusting her when obviously she never did call back anyway so I shouldn't have trusted her. I tried to spend my time making reviews only on good reviews but I feel that perhaps her office should realize the way she talks to patients. It's sad too because the Altamonte office has a wonderful dentist and help her that I left a wonderful review for and really liked. But Lord help the gatekeeper. She's going to keep losing you business read more

Dr. Farid Mastali and his entire staff were awesome. The front desk ladies are both welcoming and helpful. Millie the hygienist is a gem. I was impressed how impeccably clean the the office was. The patience, courtesy, friendliness and knowledge of the entire staff cannot be overlooked. You are a great example of what Health care professionalism is about. My regular dentist was getting ready to retire and his office sent out a notice that he was going to a new office (which I thought was strange since a year earlier he was going to retire). So I show up for my first appointment with my regular dentist and was told he was out sick but that another dentist would see me. I wasn't happy since I did not receive a phone call letting me know and let me decide whether I wanted to do that. So since I was already there, I went ahead and saw the other dentist. About 3 weeks later I went to have some work done by a periodontist that my regular dentist referred me to. During that visit we discussed my regular dentist because they knew each other and he told me that my old dentist had retired months before. So I am not happy that my old dentist told me he went to work at another dentist office, when he actually did retire and I do not like the fact that the new dentist office told me that my dentist had called in sick for the day. I won't be going there again because I do not like being lied to. Had the office been truthful with me, I would probably go back because the dentist was not that bad. I just think it was sneaky and under handed. read more

I went in today for a second extraction performed by, Dr. Riano. Her perfessionalism, skills and all around concern with my comfort is the reason the reason I've returned and will continue to. She answered any question I had and put so much concern that I wasn't feeling any discomfort. I got in and out in about an hour and never felt like I was rushed. I am so irritated with myself for not checking reviews of New Smile before I went. Of the 3 crowns I got from them ALL 3 have had issues. While I was still seeing them, my crown at the time kept popping off because they don't know how to do anything properly the first time. I literally missed work four times because I had to keep revisiting them to fix what should have been a one trip event. Also crowns are supposed to last for upwards of 5 years and one of my crowns popped off a year and a half later when I'm with a new dentist because I refuse to see new smile anymore, so I got charged for rescementing. Finally, the other two crowns they gave me are literally breaking apart. I chew and little flakes of porcelain start floating around in my mouth because they made them too thin and they do shotty work. If you need anything besides annual cleanings go somewhere else because they can't do dentistry to save their lives. read more

Dr. Riano and Kiley Howard are the best!!! I came in there with a broken tooth and 7 cavities and the process was nice and organized. The appointments always went so smoothly! Definitely would recommend this place 100%. Dr.Riano makes sure you are comfortable the whole time and her expertise and skills are amazing, I would trust her with my teeth any day!! The doctor is loud and rude. I thought she was Complete in her exam. But when I went to A specialist dentist I found out the tooth she said I needed a root canal in May not be the tooth that is abscessed.the pricing is outrageous. They suggest You can get a credit card with them. But if you live on very little money you won't have money to pay that credit card off because they pad the price enormously. The technician and woman that cleans your teeth were wonderful .The lady at the desk was very sweet and polite. The dentist has little if any compassion and patience for handicapped people with limitations. After telling them that $1500 for 1 crowned tooth, (and that's without treatment in that tooth was more than I could afford) I received a letter telling me we had a difference of opinions. I don't look at doctors, or dentist as God. I like to make decisions for myself After praying and seeking the Lord. I have been coming to new smile dentistry for three years. I moved back to New York and schedule my dental appointments around my Florida visits. I have had fillings, cleanings, and today I had a deep scaling which is a lengthy and uncomfortable procedure when doing all 4 quadrants at once. They are always professional, polite and do their best to keep their patients comfortable. Their prices are more reasonable than most. I highly recommend them. read more

I give it one star because overall the dentist is good they are patient and nice the clinical staff is good, but the nonclinical staff which is the front desk registration the one who handles the insurance horrible!!!! They have no idea what they're doing so please be aware of what you're getting done what your insurance covers and what they don't because if you believe everything they tell you might end up paying something you weren't supposed to pay for !!!! For instance, i had my wisdom teeth removed I didn't get any type of numbing medication and when I was done I was told by the front desk that I owe 160 The only reason I didn't pay it because before I got it done I was told that my insurance would cover everything 100% which they did!so I investigated it and I found out that my insurance did cover it!! another incident was when I brought my daughter for a cleaning and for some reason her insurance was not active and when I brought her in to get a cleaning and they ran her insurance card knowing that it was denied they did not tell me and they took her in to get nothing but a cleaning done ........,then I got a bill in the mail for $300 dollars. !!!!For nothing but a cleaning.something you can get on Groupon for 50 bucks! I called new smile dental and they told me it wasn't their job to let me know that my insurance was not active that's just ridiculous so now I'm stuck with a $300 bill for something that could've been easily prevented.
