Needed a place for boarding for my fur babies while our family was on vacation. I saw this place passing by and looked up reviews. Easy to book the babies boarding online and via text messages with the facility. Boarding was reasonable I suppose. We haven't had to board them before but now don't have anyone to take care of them anymore when we are away since losing my daddy. Ran $65/night for the both of them plus new clients get 1 night free. When dropping off, they didn't want to go in given this place is attached to a veterinarian office and has that smell that fur babies hate. But dropped off and reassured them that we'd see them soon. Drop off and pickup times are set and have to drop them by 3pm and can pickup as early as 7am. The facility was very prompt in communicating. I got pictures and a report card with summary of their stay on their last day of boarding. Pickup was easy but Bingo must've had an accident that morning and instead of cleaning him up before me picking him up, he had poop smeared on his butt and back side. Good thing I packed blankets for the ride home. Had to give him a bath as soon as we got home. Boy did he stink! Overall good experience other than the pickup poop incident and pictures on the last day rather than during their stay. I kept wondering how my babies were doing. They were so happy when mom was there to get them!!! read more

Apparently zero stars isn't an option for a review... I hope that if you choose this business to board your pet, that your experience is nothing like ours. We visited the New Tampa Pet Resort during the week that we were planning to kennel our dog Deuce - a healthy 22 lb. West Highland White Terrier that we have had since he was 8 weeks old. We told them that we have a very skittish dog, and that we did not want him interacting with other dogs. We were promised (and paid for) 3 supervised daily walks on a leash away from the other dogs in the kennel. They told us that they could handle our requests. My wife and I dropped off Deuce at 3 PM on Friday, October 17th. My wife talked to the receptionist and confirmed the instructions; they were laughing between the two of them that they were struggling to spell the word "skittish" as the receptionist was documenting this. We dropped him off and prepared to travel out of town the next morning for the weekend. We were outside our home in Tampa 3 hours later, and we received a voicemail that no pet parent wants to receive - our dog was injured, and they were taking him to the vet. No information about what vet they were taking him to or the extent of his injuries. We quickly sorted that out and went to the VEG emergency pet facility on Dale Mabry. He was mauled by a 200 lb. bull mastiff after New Tampa Pet Resort placed him in an outside dog run with a hole in the fence surrounded by over 50 large dogs. We were at VEG for over 6 hours. Deuce received over 100 internal and external stitches, and we left the hospital with a dog that had a drain tube hanging from his body. We had to go back to VEG four more times in the following 2 weeks to address complications with the surgery and eventually drain tube and stitch removal. The response from New Tampa Pet Resort was a combination of indifference and protecting themselves legally. The local manager apologized the day after the incident and told me that they screwed up. They showed me the hole in the fence, of course it had been covered up with a piece of temporary fencing. The instructions that my wife communicated to the receptionist on two separate occasions had magically disappeared. The cameras in the fenced area that were there before the hurricanes have not been replaced. A regional manager for New Tampa Pet Resort's parent company reached out to us a couple of days after the attack and told us that their insurance company would handle the rest. We never heard from a single person at the New Tampa Pet Resort facility again. Pets are designated as property in Florida, so unless your pet dies under their care your legal options are limited. Their insurance company would only reimburse us for our lost travel expenses if we kept quiet. No thank you. We now have a wonderful member of our family who is afraid to go outside for fear that he will be attacked again. Daily walks are difficult; we must take great care that there is no interaction with other people and certainly no other animals. Our dog will never be the same. read more

Left our two dogs here for four days when we went out of town recently. The process to setup scheduling for them was easy (just have to make sure their shots are up to date). Ended up choosing a queen villa and private day care (we weren't positive on whether our dogs would play well with others). They send you a link to use to check them in, but the receptionist just needed their names and gave them each ID tags. She confirmed whether there were any dietary instructions or anything else and then took them back. There are some specific options you can add on as well such as ice cream, private play time, private swim time. Pickup was just as easy and near the end of the stay they sent pictures and a report card on how they were doing. There is an option for a webcam and it may be something we consider next time since we did miss our pups. Would definitely consider using their services again in the future! read more

I have used this kennel for my dog for 5 years and have had minor complaints, my dog is often incredibly thirsty when coming home. After baths they can never adequately dry her and send her home soaking wet. My most recent visit, both still occurred, and more. She has a 2inch gash on her neck and jaw clearly from another dog. It is a massive scab and painful to the touch. Her private area is also RED and swollen with blisters/bumps - probably an aggressive UTI or infection, from the kennel not providing water, not providing bathroom times, not monitoring my dog licking and allowing the issue to get worse. I now have a vet appointment and will be out several hundred dollars + what I paid them to "take care" of my dog. I will never return to this kennel, I hope your dogs get better care and attention than mine did. This was all after a weekend stay... read more

Our very large and very spoiled fur babies love it here! Not all kennels can accommodate the size of our dogs, and there are several options for us here. They are great with dealing with all of our special requests! Pups get very excited when they see suitcases come out, knowing they are going here. We appreciate the updates while we are away and this last trip they called to let us know they found mold in the fesh pet we brought. They were quick with a solution. I will also note our female has had issues with aggression at other places and has had zero issues here. This is far for us, but worth the drive! We love the staff!! read more

Our dog Bruce stayed here for 4 nights for his first time being boarded! Bruce has anxiety and can be difficult to handle at times which made the idea of boarding Bruce a little scary for my boyfriend and I. BUT, New Tampa Pet Resort made sure we were informed and we could tell Bruce was being well taken care off! One of the employees, Jackie, was absolutely amazing and answered all my questions every time I called to check in! You can tell she's very knowledgeable and kind. I had my dogs boarded here for 11 days while I was out of the country and I won't be taking my dogs here again... The staff was very friendly and helpful but I honestly did not have a good experience at this pet resort. On their website it states that it's $33 per dog if they are staying in a queen room. So I booked my two labradors separate rooms with a doggy door that joined the rooms so that they could still be together and have their own space. I booked this 3 months in advance. They didn't book it correctly in their system so that there would be 2 queen rooms next to each other, so they moved one of my dogs to a king room without contacting me prior. Then they also charged me for moving my dog without my permission because of THEIR mistake. This was an extra $7 per day and they stayed for 11 days so that's $77. When I was dropping them off they also told me that it was $10 for my dogs to play for half a day. They did not specify that it was $10 for each dog individually. I paid for these play sessions every other day. So that was an extra $60 that I was charged because the receptionist neglected to inform us about the pricing accurately. I was about to leave the pet resort but I realized that I forgot to inform them that I didn't give them my information to get my military discount which was 10% off the tab ($80). When I went inside, she informed me that I actually owed HER money because of the facilities mistakes. That included the $7 dollars per night because they moved my dog to a larger room without my permission and the extra $10 every other day for my dogs play time. So that was $137 that they were saying I 'owed' them. So instead of eating the $137 because they were obviously in the wrong, they 'let it go' by making the charges even with the military discount I was supposed to get.... I believe that they should have dealt with this in a different manner than they did. On top of that I asked them to clean my chocolate labradors ears after he swam and I believe they didn't even do that. When he came home he had lots of dirty ear wax in his ears and they were red from irritation. Both dogs were very upset when I picked them up and wouldn't really look at me or my boyfriend. They also were sick and had diarrhea for 2 days and I'm not sure why. Overall I did not have a good experience with this facility and I would much rather go to a place like Pet Paradise. They charge 70 something dollars each day for both of my dogs but play time is included (which new Tampa pet resort didn't specify on their website that it wasn't included either) and they actually take care of their animals. read more

They took great care of my cat for a week. The cat room setup is very roomy, and it seems like they allow one cat to roam the room at a time while the others stay in their condos. It was also nice to hear that they would come and play with the cats often. read more

Hands down the best experience ever! My dogs usually don't do well anywhere but home and the baths and nail trimmings. They did so well at the NT Pet resort and everyone on the staff was polite and helpful! They connected me with the vet to update shots and had no issues bathing and trimming our dogs nails. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone and actually would discourage them from using NTPR for their pets. I went on vacation and left my dog there for what was supposed to be a week - within 48 hours of being there my dog was in kidney failure and passed away 24 hours later. This was a dog who was young, had just been to the vet and was in perfect health. NTPR never tried to contact the emergency contact in my file, rather sent (2) texts that she had thrown up - that is the extent of what they did. After she passed I tried to get information as to what actually happened and to this day have had no answers. The emergency vet repeatedly asked if she had gotten into anything- again I have never been told anything that happened in her 48 hour stay other then throwing up. To top it off, when speaking with the manager ( it took her 2 days to return a call), she admitted she never even knew what took place ! She has never , nor has an owner, called to share condolences- rather they have their insurance company contact me. The insurance investigation did nothing for prolong this entire situation which resulted in NOTHING. I still cant understand why no emergency contact was called or a vet that was listed in her file. My pup LOVES his daycare visits here! You can tell he's always super excited when we arrive to go and play with his friends! They've taken great care of my sweet boy! With him having such severe separation anxiety this is one of the few places he can go for a whole day where I don't have to worry about him. To say I am thankful is an understatement. Unfortunately I didn't have time to read the yelp reviews before my husband booked a boarding reservation here for our dog. It was one of two places near my brother's place in Tampa, so he just chose this one since it was closer. My husband called and talked with a staff member and filled out all the necessary paperwork and told the staff that I would be dropping off the dog the following day. He was on the phone for 30 minutes and even called back to confirm that they received the completed paperwork - which they did. They told him that all I would have to do when I showed up was to drop off the dog with his food. Well, I showed up last week and they greeted us and asked our dog by name. Wow, I was impressed. But then the staff member started asking basic information about our dog including birth date, date of last vaccinations and rabies, etc. I said that my husband had taken care of that. She said they didn't have the information. I pulled up the email that my husband sent them and asked to confirm the email address - which was correct - but she said they didn't have it and she needed us the fill out the paperwork. I was NOT happy given that I had two young toddlers with me and this was supposed to be a seamless drop-off...but instead had two unhappy toddlers running around. When we picked up the dog several days later, we didn't even get a dog report of his stay, which I found unusual. Whenever I have boarded my dog at other boarding facilities in Chicago and NC, there was always a report card. Anyway, I am very thankful that nothing happened to our dog given the previous yelp review! We will be researching other boarding places as I was not thrilled with our customer experience. read more

I had to stop taking my dog there because his paws were always cut open and swollen from the landscaping type rocks that surrounded the play area of the pool. The last time I brought him home he was in so much pain that he had a hard time walking. I had to put his food dish on the carpet because he could not eat on our tile floors. Dogs should not have to run on rocks. read more

My wife and I own two Boxers and we have been bringing them to the NTPR for the last 4 years. Our dogs have probably have been there about 30 different times. The staff is outstanding and meticulous in their care of our 2 "kids". We are very particular in what we feed them and the staff has their records on file to know when and how much to feed them on a daily basis. They always make sure our beds are washed when we pick them up as well. We have full trust in the NTPR and will continue to board our dogs there whenever we have the need. read more

Both my dog and I are huge fans of this place. Everytime my dog goes there you can tell he's had a great time playing with all the other pups. Each time I'm greeted at the front door by the staff and they always recognize my dog. This is one of the best Doggie Daycares I'm taking my dog to in Tampa. Our normal boarding place was full so I booked with the new Tampa pet resort. We went and visited before hand and decided to book with them. After our dogs 4 day stay I went to pick him up and he seemed "off." He smelled terrible, despite having a bath, and had feces on his bed which I discovered after leaving he place. Our poor dog was skittish and not himself for the next week or so. I would not recommend this place!!!! read more

***STAY AWAY** I feel like a horrible pet owner for not reading the Yelp reviews first before I boarded my pet here. I boarded my Beagle here for 10 days while I went on my honeymoon. As someone else mentioned I was not given a report card either. They barely said anything about my pet's stay for those 10 long days. When I got home, I noticed that my Beagle's back legs were severely swollen and red. When I asked the facility about this, they then mentioned that he was having a hard time getting up and down, but later blamed it on my dog's age. My Beagle was dragging his back legs across the floor due to the pain. As he is known for having allergies, I started him on Benadryl. After a couple of weeks of this attempt to remedy the problem, I took him into the vet's office. Then I got the shock of my life. Our Beagle's legs, eye and both ears were infected. They even suggested xrays to see if the infection went into the bone. They immediately prescribed us ointments, and pills for $500. When I spoke to the pet resort about this, they stated that nothing was wrong with our pet during his visit and blamed his slow movements on his advanced age. This place will cost you more in the long run. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I know I will be from now on. read more

I've been taking my dog Ruby there for 3 years and I think it's the best kennel I've ever seen.

We left our 2 y/o English Bulldog there over the holidays. We specifically mentioned that she hasn't been around other dogs a lot so she does not get along with them. One of the negligent staff members managed to let a 30 lb bulldog "sneak" by her (so they say) and she ended up getting into an altercation with another dog. We ended up with the near $1000 bill from the vet because the other dog needed treatment. We were willing to take on half the responsibility, but they still claim they aren't at all responsible. Don't let them fool with with their "we go above and beyond" bull. Good to see from the other review that negligence isn't something new there. read more
