They did not show photos of the completed work and partly negligent from my party as no one was physically able, ready and willing to climb the roof to make a visual assessment of the alleged completed work. If they didn't already have my substantial deposit, I would have backed out after they delayed my start date three weeks past due. Granted some of the delay was due to poor weather, but my property agent couldn't even get a call back after repeated attempts to speak with the owner. When she did, he literally yelled for inquiring when the contractors would start work. Additionally they were sloppy in their handwork covering a DEP water main opening with cement which would prevent any city workers from accessing it if necessary in the future. When they claimed the job was completed, they left the yard a mess with multiple pieces of plywood and tarp balled up in the yard. What professional company leaves their debris in the clients yard especially when the contract expressly says they will clean up all materials and trash at the work site upon completion. Do not go with this company unless you are looking to have your project take 2-3x as long as you initially expect and a sloppy job on top of that.

I called one company I knew and I had to keep calling and calling back to get an estimate. After two weeks of waiting, I decided to call someone else and stumbled upon Johnston Roofing. Charlie came over and wrote me up an estimate on the spot on a pre-printed multi part yellow form -- warranty included (did I mention old school?), I just went with them without waiting for the other estimate because he said he could do the job the next day, max two days. Well, that solves my problem right away so I go for it without even getting the other estimate. His guys come, the job is neat and clean--no more leaks and done in one day. I have a nice new white colored roof which is greener too. Five days later, I get the estimate from the other guys and it was way more complicated and expensive. Guess I'm lucky the other guys took so long.
