Obviously deciding to have any type of surgery is a major decision. After researching doctors up and down the east coast of Florida I decided on Dr. O'Brien based on his experience and multiple positive patient reviews. I live in Boynton Beach - 90 miles away. What a great decision!!! I elected to have Lasik on just one eye to improve my distance vision while using my other eye for close computer work and reading, resulting in no glasses for distance or reading. The staff at New Vision Eye Center are so kind and do a great job of explaining everything they are doing. I can't say enough about Dr. O'Brien and his skills. There was never any pain involved and I felt completely confident I would achieve the outcome I was hoping for. During each visit, I felt appreciated for being a patient but I never felt like a patient. I was treated kindly, addressed by my first name and never heard anyone refer to me as "the patient". I just had my 3-month postop checkup yesterday and my vision is now 20/20. I do not wear my glasses (except my non-prescription sunglasses). Life is great thanks to Dr. O'Brien and his staff. I had been wearing contacts for years dealing with irritation and constantly forgetting to remove them at night. My vision is now 20/15 which is better than 20/20 and I couldn't be more pleased. There are A LOT of staff members - makes me wonder if they are all necessary! HOWEVER, having a large number of staff made my visit go very smoothly. I was greeted with genuine friendliness and treated with courtesy throughout my visit. I was there for a regular eye-exam (hadn't been in two years). The technician was efficient and thorough, spotting a problem that she had verified by another technician before bringing it to the attention of Dr. O'Brien. Dr. O'Brien was able to explain the eye issue clearly, patiently answered questions, and seemed genuinely concerned for my welfare. My wife and I love Dr. O'Brien. She has been seeing him for the past 15-20 years (since he did her Lasik surgery) but since we live an hour drive from Vero Beach I never changed.
