While my husband was having cataract surgery, Cyndee Beach sized me up for glasses & I was able to pick them up a week later. We saw Dr. Stingl. He was very personable and likable. All the staff was professional and kind. My daughter, who has special needs, was the patient. Dr. Stingl chatted with her and showed a lot of respect to her. He explained the issue with her eyes which helped a lot. He is not an alarmist and I felt confident in his assessment. Sadly, this is a money mill. You will sit for hours and hours in their waiting area. They will make you pay in advance for your cataract surgery and then, after they bill medicare, they will not refund the amount that you paid above and beyond what they are permitted to bill. The billing department will not return your calls. You may confuse this office with a dental office because getting any kind of relief is like have root canal without anesthesia. I have even received false bills. For many elderly people, the false and incorrect bills may go unnoticed. No words can adequately emphasize the disgust that I feel for this business. read more

I came here for the first time last month and was extremely impressed from start to finish. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and prompt. I had two appointments; one in Vero Beach and the other in Sebastian (same friendly staff). I cannot say enough about the care and attention that I received. I came in for dry eye and was treated much differently here than where I came from. The treatments have already made a positive impact. The office is very clean, updated, and pleasant. be careful . after tests and after waiting months for cataract surgery scheduling and after buying eye drops needed they tell me two weeks before surgery I have almost $1000 due because they are not in network . !!!! that should have been said the first day not three months later and after initial money spent and time waisted . I rescheduled with Riverside - waiting another two months and must copay for tests again . They do this because some people will pay since THEY already have some of your money and texts are done so they hope they gotcha. read more

My mother had an appointment for a procedure on her eye. Since she couldn't drive afterwards, I drove her to the appointment and dropped her off on my way to work, and my sister met us there to take her home when she was done. I was surprised when 10 minutes later my sister called me and told me that the receptionist said my mother's appointment was cancelled because the doctor transferred to somewhere else. No one called to inform us of this, and we wasted time, a 30 minute drive, and I was late for work to be able to take her. My sister said that the receptionist was very unapologetic and uncaring. She didn't even offer to reschedule her with another doctor. Needless to say we will definitely not be going back there again. read more

Having a history of dry eye disease, I stopped by Florida Eye Institute to purchase eye drops for my eyes. I requested the brand Retaine. When the associate handed me the box I said it looked different. She said the packaging was changed. I asked to see what it looked like and the box was opened at the counter. The bottle was also different. I was told this probably changed at the same time the box was changed. I purchased them left. A little later I discovered this product was an eye lid moisturizer. I called and was told to return for an exchange. When I got there I was told because the box was opened they would not return them. I spoke to the manager who also wouldn't return them although they were opened in the store. She said what do you want me to do "eat this" (over $21) and said she could not sell this to anyone else. After a not to nice discussion she said I will split the difference $10. She said to wait in the waiting room. 40 minutes later the associate face me the $10 credit. I said were is the moisturizer. She said she couldn't give it to me. ???? Seriously if a reputable company can't stand behind a mistake in eye drops I would really give a second thought to eye care. read more

I wanted to go to Rand Eye Institute but was directed to Florida Eye Institute for my cataract surgery instead. I have since visited Rand as well having had complications from my surgery at Florida eye institute. I can now compare both places. Florida eye institute says on its website that it is interested in patient satisfaction but that is not true at all. They are icy cold, only interested in collections and very cowardly. When chosing a place for surgery look into not just the doctor but the company he works for as you will have to deal with them after your surgery. Rand owns his own company and both he and his son are dedicated to the patient, warm, receptive and make you feel that they will help, and they do. Florida eye institute lied to me and did not honor their own statement. After my surgery I attempted three times to correct the discomfort I was having. Each time I visited(a total of three) I was told I did not have to pay a copay as it was a follow up to my surgery. Two months later i got a bill for these visits. I told them I was told I did not have to pay. They made me wait for a response for a solid month even though I called several times. Finally, they were too cowardly and impersonal to call me, they emailed me to say I owed the money. Well, needless to say I am still trying to resolve my eye problems incurred after my surgery but I am going to Rand instead. Not only would I not ever let Florida eye institute operate on me again, I would sooner poke out my own eye. Folks, don't let them screw you too!!!!!!!!!! My husband an I both went, are senior citizens, we recently moved to Vero, saw the tech, that part was ok, I do have eye problems, my husband has never, he saw the doctor first, I did not next, all she did was yell at me because my husband refused refraction, Dr Karen Todd, would never recommend her either, condescending, down right nasty, wanted more follow up tests for me, when I met up with my husband an asked him why he refused refraction, he said no one told him why he needed it! I did go back for follow up, she ordered eye drops, that insurance won't cover, I could go only buy from them, I refused, tech said they could order something my insurance would cover, I agreed but she never ordered it! Went today for 2nd opinion cataract surgery. Not at all a friendly place, from the minute you walk in the door very abrupt. Everything was about scheduling now and you neeed this it reminded me of a money pit once they push you. Not happy at all will not recommend to anyone. Twice now, Dr Thomas Baudo has come to our rescue over the weekend after normal business hours to take care of my wife's eyes. Stucco fell in her eye one Saturday and we drove to the Florida Eye Institute to see if we could get some help. One of the cleaning people said they were closed and everyone else was gone but to hold on and she would call Dr. Baudo. Within minutes he arrived and took care of the situation. Recently he came in after hours to take care of another emergency situation with her eyes. I, too, am a patient of Dr. Baudo. I come here all the time but my last visit was so unprofessional. When did the employees start flirting with the doctors? This guy looked 4 times her age. I'm sitting in the waiting room and I could actually hear them flirting and talking about the night before. Most disgusting thing ever. I'm a snow bird that experienced a sudden complete loss of vision in my right eye within a 10 minute time frame. Having had a retinal detachment 2 years prior I knew I should be seen urgently. When I called to get in the receptionist check with the doctor and came back on the phone saying I couldn't be seen until the next day! I have BC/BS PPO so that wasn't it. When I asked her if she thought a patient with a sudden loss of vision should be seen right away she said "yes but the doctor does not have an opening" I called the New Vision Center and was seen by a wonderful retinal specialist within an hour. Last February when i was in Vero Beach i woke up and found one of my eyes were red in color and blood shot. I went to one of the Urgent Care facilities and waited over 2 hours and then left. I was told only a little while longer. On my way back to the house where I was staying I drove by the Florida Eye Institute. I walked in and they could see i was in some distress. Dr. Wallace immediately took me in. He did a thorough exam. He provided me drops which quickly corrected the problem. Their thoroughness and professionalism was outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about this business. I wear monthly contacts, and found myself in the situation of having to stay longer in Vero Beach than I originally planned in order to take care of a sick parent. I'd forgotten to bring a spare pair of lenses with me, and eventually stayed long enough that it was time to change them out. I called all over Vero, and nobody had my high prescription lenses in stock. But luckily Florida Eye Institute did! My doctor in Texas sent my prescription over, and the folks at FEI were able to give me some samples that same day. They didn't even charge me! Really nice office staff. I almost wish I lived in Vero so I could use their practice more often! read more

Dr. Baudo was unavailable for my wife's emergency eye surgery and I asked for other local resources. There were no other local doctors according to him, only in Miami, a long drive from Vero Beach with many unknowns between. The next day I discovered New Vision Eye Center in Vero Beach by calling another eye center that did not perform surgery. That next day Robert M. Reinauer, M.D. performed successful emergency eye surgery by assembling a team at New Vision to remain after normal hours. This is medicine at its best. Following up later on Dr. Baudo's lie, the administrator at Florida Eye Institute explained that doctors in Vero Beach do not collaborate and that Florida Eye Institute would no longer serve my wife. We are pleased to have escaped Florida Eye Institute and Dr. Baudo. It's not that he was unavailable, it's the lie about New Vision not existing at a time when he himself advised that my wife take immediate action to undergo surgery. read more
