Three years ago, New Way Home Decor installed a shade to draw down when the children are sleeping. Within the first month the shade came crashing down. New way home decor reinstalled the shade claiming the ladies are pulling on the shade. Nine months later the shade came crashing down again. Again, New Way home decor claimed the ladies were too rough with the shade. After that incident we no longer trusted the shade and blocked the children from going near the area. Thirteen months later the shade came crashing down again. When the installer came to reinstall the shade again, he stated the shade was cut too short and needed to reach from corner to corner in order to securely install two corner brackets. Previous installations had a corner bracket and a single bracket that was1 ¾ "shy of making it to the corner. We called the owner and informed her of the situation. She stated, "you know this was three years ago. We told her the shade had come down endangering the children three times and the installer said it was cut too short. We paid over $800 for this shade. The owner said she will replace the shade for another $500. The owner had no regard for the children's safety, only lining her pockets. LET THIS BE A WARNING TO ALL FUTURE BUYERS. They took such care and were as excited about the project as me, which felt nice. They took care of it in about a week and were very friendly. One of the staff members quoted me a price on blinds when I showed him pictures of my apartment windows. He went to measure when my roommate was there, and the gentleman called me to get my credit card information. Never once did he tell me of a new price. When the blinds were installed, the price had suddenly doubled. The gentleman who measured claimed he told me the price when he called me, but he didn't. I would not have used them if the price was that much. In addition, the blinds don't fit. They go past the window sill resulting in the blinds being on an angle and my dresser not fitting flush against the wall. The man who installed did not clean up the installation and dust was everywhere. The owner was very nice, but in the end they charged me twice what I was told for blinds that don't fit. The had to measure twice and didn't do it right and they even put blinds over a small section we told them not to. Very poor experience. read more

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. We wanted to put in some black-out shades in the living room because we have a projector. We called them, a guy came over to take measurements, and kept pressuring me to put in an order immediately, even though I wanted to think about it because they were pretty pricey. But the guy was still pretty nice. Two weeks later the shades were installed, and we felt they let in too much light, so we called them and couldn't reach them, or they would call us back at inconvenient times (around 7pm dinnertime). Finally we gave up on the issue. Two months later, our landlord decided to redo those windows and the shades were removed. When the new windows came in, the shades no longer fit and had to be recut. We called NWD again, and it took us several phone calls and emails to finally get someone to come. Someone who didn't really speak English came to pick up the shades. On his way out, I asked him "Do you know when they'll be ready?" and he just said "No" and left. About a week later, they woke us up on a Saturday at 9am to install the shades - we asked why they didn't call, they said they had written down my number wrong, even though they had my husband's correct phone number the whole time. This is a company whose employees do not care about their work at all, and don't seem very interested in doing jobs for people. read more

I have to say that I spent less than I had anticipated on my roman shades and wood blinds. They helped me create a very modern and sleek feel to a new space. I found a flyer on my door one evening when I got home from work. I was thinking of doing the window treatments myself so I saved the flyer in case I were to change my mind. After going to a few local stores (ie. The Shade Store, Bed Bath and Beyond, Home Depot) to price out the job and see what's available, I procrastinated a bit longer and then I decided to give "New Way" a call and see what they had to offer. They sent a salesperson named "Don" over to my place the next day. Don was a very nice guy and he was knowledgeable. I chose wooden blinds for my living room and aluminum blinds for the bedrooms. Don quoted me a price for the entire job including installation and he told me the blinds would be ready in a week. I called back 8 or 9 days later and the blinds still hadn't arrived but the woman on the phone said they'd have them in a day or two. A few days later I got a call from their installation person and he told me he'd be there to install the new blinds the next day. "Franklin" the installation man came on time and installed the blinds (7 windows) quickly and beautifully. The blinds fit perfectly and look fantastic!! I am very pleased with the service and window treatments I purchased from New Way. They were a few days late but they were very professional and I'm extremely satisfied with the end result. WARNING....!!!!!!! This company is awful. Quality of work is substandard. I hired this company to have my dining room chairs reupholstered and after a couple of months, seat cushions became flat and my husband and I were starting to feel the frame of the chairs. When I called the company and spoke with Bryon, he was extremely rude. (trying to rush me off the phone). When I ask to speak with the supervisor Louie, he was worse. This is a small company with big promises and they don't deliver what is promised. My husband who is soft spoken and very humble man was spoken to very rudely as well. He was told by this company to get to the point and after my husband threatened to call BBB, he was told to stop playing games and was told not to threaten the company, in an intimidating manner. We could not believe how we were treated. Even when i lied and told them that the conversation was being recorded, they continued to be very rude. We were finally given a number of a warehouse to call and have the seat cushions picked up. We decided not to deal with the company nor have the problem fixed. We are appalled and saddened by the behavior and quality of work they delivered. On their web site, their is no name of an owner to complain too. The only number on their web page is 718-626-4747 and the same rude and unprofessional people will pick up the phone and we do not want to deal with them at all. HORRIBLE SERVICE & HORRIBLE WORK On 1/20/17 i requested to have a recliner reupholstered. Two men came to retrieve the recliner on 1/20/17 On 2/3/17 one man was sent back to deliver the recliner. I had to assist him to get the recliner up the stairs. Upon examination I noticed that the old fabric was not removed, The naugahyde was stapled over the original fabric and it was only partially stapled. Also missing was the neck pillow, the foot rest and the chrome trim. I refused to accept the recliner and helped the delivery man to take it back down the stairs.. On 2/25/17 the recliner was delivered. The reupholstery was better but the neck pillow was poorly stitched. The two delivery men said they would tale it back and have it redone. After waiting two weeks I called on 3/13/17 about the neck pillow and asked to speak to the owner. I was told she was not available and the gentleman took my name, phone number and the reason for my call. I got no call back and called again on 3/24/17.This time I was able to speak to the owner Gemma. She said she would check and get back to me. Again I got no call back and I called on 4/11/17. I was told that the owner was not available. I told him I was going to write a review. Five minutes later, the owner Gemma called and told me she would check with the factory. As of the date of this review 4/20/17 there is no word on my neck pillow. Needless to say I would not recommend New Way Home Decor. Sheila E. read more

In April 2015 I wrote a review for New Way Home Décor and gave them 5 stars for their outstanding service, price and selection. I recently looked up New Way's website and happened to notice my review was missing. When I scrolled to the bottom and followed the link "other reviews that are not currently recommended" I found my review along with 10 other 5-star reviews for this company. I don't know why Yelp would do this but it makes me very suspect of their recommendations. I've lived in Astoria all my life and I wanted to support my local business. I needed new window treatments. The salesman came and I picked out my shades for 6 windows. He quoted me a price and we gave him a check for the deposit. He called me the next day to tell me that he gave me the wrong price. He said he only calculated for 4 windows and not 6. He also said that the shades I picked out were no longer available. He mad good on the original price and I picked out new shades. He then told me that he measured wrong and had to send someone else to come and measure. I specifically requested a morning installation which they said they could accommodate. When they called me for the installation they said they would confirm the time the night before. So they called me on a Thurs and said they would call me by 5pm to confirm a time. I had to call them at 6pm and was told they were still making up the schedule. I called them again at 7pm and they told me they could not give me a morning appointment. I spoke to a supervisor and she said they would be there the next morning between 9-11. I called them at 10:30 to make sure they were coming and I was told "oh we were going to call you our delivery man's car broke down". Can we come in the afternoon. I lost a morning and wages from work and they did not come at all that day. This is the worst customer service I have ever had and I would NEVER use or recommend them! read more
