Honestly came here because the other restaurant I wanted to try was closed already--and I'm so glad to have discovered this food hall! I ordered food from one vendor then a drink from another, then my food was ready to be picked up and my drink right after that. If I ever end up in North Carolina again, I'll likely be back--pretty much every vendor had food I wanted to try, and there's ample seating with free wifi and water. Love the zine vending machine, I didn't have time to visit a museum and this is such a cool way for tourists to learn about the area! Right around the corner there's a big hill park thing with a skate ramp, playground, and a little free library where I grabbed a book from a favorite series of mine! Great food hall with options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and all types of cuisine). One large bar in the middle, where you can get cocktails and beers (on tap or cans). Restaurants include Everything Bagels, Locals Seafood Restaurant and Market, Patty Boy, Sfizio Pizzeria, Ex-Voto, Corner Yaki, Mango Indian Grill, and Little Barb's Bakery. Plenty of seating on a split level floor plan, and parking garages nearby. Definitely a food hall you must visit (check hours because they vary for each restaurant from day to day). Love the food hall! It's an awesome spot for friends to get together in downtown Durham, offering lots of different vendors and surprises. Coffee, boba, burritos, oysters, brownies, pizza... you can't go wrong! They don't bring food to you, they call out your name, but sometimes they do bus your table depending on if someone is around. There are about ~10 vendors - Chinese dumplings and bao buns, tacos, bagels, Napolitan pizza, Indian, seafood, and a large bar in the middle. On the upper level (there's a ramp), there are a few vendors- baked goods/dessert, coffee, and bubble tea. The Napoli Neapolitan pizza paired with the cider from the bar was an epic meal! Napoli Neapolitan pizza (5/5) - The wood-fired Neapolitan DOC Buffalo Margharita pizza with a pillowy soft charred crust hit the spot! It's among the best pizzas I've had in the U.S.! I waited for 20 min to get my pizza, just be patient! Auctioneer Bar (5/5) - The Flat Rock CIder has a strong note of blueberries was sweet and refreshing! The Hibiscus cocktail with Bourbon was fun to try, but not my cup of tea. The bartender was super nice! It's also part of the Social District, so you can get drinks to go! Milk Lab (4/5) - The berry smoothie was very colorful, but very sweet even at 50% sweetness. Grabbed dinner and a drink here recently. Pretty good variety of food options and it wasn't too insanely busy even at 7 PM on a Friday. The central bar had a decent variety of beers on draft and it's nice that you can take your food and eat it at the bar. I was a little surprised that many of the restaurants closed kind of early (~8 PM) since I figured most of them would want to stay open later on the weekend, but maybe there aren't enough people around to justify that. Totally love the vibe in Durham Food Hall! Live entertainment, family friendly, hipster and modern, artistic and cool vibe! They have a seafood retail that sells local grown oysters. I've been here before, so I'm not sure where previous reviews went. The bar service is still my favorite place for late-afternoon drinks with wifi. Covered parking deck for retail, several food options, and always cheerful bar staff. The open two-story area over the bar gives a modern semi-brutalist feeling, with a faux-concrete bar and sheet metal work surfaces behind. There are always great smells here, any it varies by time of day depending on which venue is cooking. But I'm busy writing right now, and enjoying my drink. It ties in the building really well. 2) the variety of the foods is excellent. Again, not the biggest food hall, but they have such a great selection of foods. I'm sure there's more, but I saw pizza, Italian, Mexican, sandwiches, noodles, burgers and on. There's something for everyone. And like 17 things for me. We ate at old north and I had a great burger. Not my favorite!! For food, I tried both a pork belly pancake, and an apricot pizza. They were from separate vendors, but I didn't really love either! The pancake was fine but the pizza was super mushy. There is nothing worse than a super mushy pizza!! Service was fine. However, it seemed understaffed (at some of the vendors there was no one dedicated to taking orders). Ambiance was fine, but I'd love if they had better organization for utensils /silverware. The food hall has reusable silverware for dining in, but the vendors gave me disposable silverware (even though they knew I was dining in!) My favorites are everything bagels and the bakery up top. I've tried a lot of the different spots here. The wait is always a short amount of time and the individuals are friendly. I love how they have different events at the Food Hall. The only thing I would have is a brighter ambiance. We stopped here on our way through town on a road trip. I was wooed by the rose milk tea at Milklab and the many choices for lunch. I loved the milk tea; it was 5 stars. For food, my husband got a crunch wrap at the Mex place and I, being skeptical of NC Mexican food, got some bao and spicy cucumber salad from the Japanese place. Honestly, I should have gotten a crunch wrap. I had a bite of his and it was really tasty and a generous size. The Japanese food was just ok. The bao buns were tasty enough but two small buns for $10 was not very cost effective, I'm used to getting 3 for that price. The spicy cucumber salad was also a bit disappointing. It was a little spicy and had a lot of sesame seeds but it really didn't have a lot of *flavor*. I had also eyed the pizzas, some of them sounded really unusual and interesting but on a road trip I didn't want to load up on bread and have a food coma. I also eyed the seafood but despite a sign that said "check out our menu" with an arrow pointing down, I couldn't find any sign of a menu or even a QR code to scan one, and being a social anxiety laden person that was enough to have me skedaddling. There's also an Indian kiosk, bagels, coffee and a bakery (which was closed at the time). There's supposed to be validated parking but if you park on the street I am not sure how that would work, as you have to either pre-pay or have a "validation code" -- if the meter maids come while you're eating then wouldn't you get a ticket? We just paid for parking, but this was a bit confusing. All in all, we'd come back again on a future drive-through-town and get milk tea and crunch wraps. read more

Food halls are our favorite and a friend recommended this one to us. We stopped by yesterday since we're visiting the Triangle area. Covid-19: all of the businesses here have online ordering/payment. There was no one there when I went to pick up my food. I'm worried this means that they're struggling more than most right now, so go support them! There are a few tables outside, but it was far too cold so we ate in our car. They have it all set up to be one way inside too. We tried Ex-Voto and Old North Meats & Provisions. We loved both. Get a crunch wrap supreme and a pork belly sandwich. You won't regret it. I also wanted to try Everything Bagels, but they close at 2, and Napoli Pizzeria, but they are temporarily closed. Bartenders need to learn the meaning of customer service. 2 bartenders behind a bar that seats at least 20 and there was 3 people seated when I sat down. The male bartender walked by 3 times and did not even attempt to look at us. After a few minutes the female bartender said they'd be right with us. Waited another couple of minutes, watched the male bartender help a couple of women who had just walked up to the bar and we decided we did not need to spend our money on a drink there. Such a great space! I visited this evening with my MeetUp group "Relocating To Raleigh." We were all very impressed with the atmosphere and the food offerings. I ordered my dinner from the "Local's Oyster Bar" and got the Blue Crab Roll along with a dozen oysters since a few people in the group had never tried them before. The oysters were nice and fresh and the roll was so good and flavorful! One of my friends ordered the "Calabash Basket" and I traded him an oyster for a couple of his fried shrimp. The shrimp were okay but I definitely think my roll was much better. Overall I would give this place a 5/5. The others in my group seemed to all like their food and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere. Leaving a review after talking with an ex employee and learning more about something that happened two months ago. Two months ago, Josie, a bartender at the food hall, refused service to my Hispanic friend. My friend was the only person refused service, and I asked why this was. She said she was obviously intoxicated but she had not had any more drinks than the rest of us. Not only that, but she didn't even ask for a drink- she simply asked for water and the bartender went out of her way to tell her she wouldn't serve her. There was also a medical emergency going on with a woman of color. When I brought this up she rolled her eyes and said "what are you, friends with them?" She didnt help that patrons at all and did not have an ounce of sympathy towards the situation. There were microagressions made around these women and it made me uncomfortable which prompted me to say "this is feeling a little racist to be honest". When I said that, she lost her cool and kicked us out of the bar and threatened to call the police. Now I have learned from a past employee that she used to not serve people of color at the bar and this seems to be a common occurrence. I hope management looks into this as this is not the kind of culture we typically experience in Durhams and we shouldn't tolerate this behavior to be frank. read more

I'm a fan of the concept and the space. It can be a little hit and miss in terms of what's available food-wise at any given time, but there are enough options that anyone should be able to find something that will do for them. The central bar has a great cocktail list and there are plenty of different types of seating options around the multi-level space. Of the places I've tried, Old North Meats and Provisions was terrific (try the Rachel), Ex-Voto was good, and Marco's 530 was just OK but they were on a limited menu at the time. The Hall will validate parking for the garage in the attached building, but there are also plenty of on-street options in the area plus other lots that are open after 5. read more

Now that Durham Food Hall is finally open, I'm completely obsessed! I've now been a couple of times and the two food vendors I've tried so far (Everything Bagel and Lula & Sadie's) have been amazing! I wish I was still living near downtown Durham, but that's not stopping me. Currently the Food Hall is open for take out only due to COVID-19, with masks required for entry and one way traffic enforced inside the building. If you go on their website, you can place and pay for your orders online for any of the food vendors for contactless pickup. There are "pickup" tables inside designated for each food vendor. It's a gorgeous space with lots of seating, and I can't wait for when we can all mingle and hang out together. This will be an awesome weekend spot. read more

Such a fun place to go with a group since you can all get something different! I did not enjoy my cocktail so I would get wine/beer next time. I couldn't decide between the pizza and Crunchwrap and ended up getting pizza (the pizza man wasn't friendly but the Crunchwrap man was). It was delicious but my bf thought it was soggy.
