I've been coming to this spot on and off, and it's consistently solid--though it's definitely a place I visit when I'm "in the mood" for it. People's Coffee shares a space with Town Hall Burger next door (I believe that's where the waffles come from!), and parking is conveniently located right out front. The indoor space isn't large, but there are a couple of long tables that work well for families or friend groups. I especially enjoy the outdoor seating for early morning reading or work, though it can get a bit noisy once the lunch rush hits.The food menu is relatively limited, but if you're into smashed waffles, it's worth a try. The coffee isn't anything special, but here are the two things keeping me come back: One is the chai drinks here because it's nice to have a solid chai option without needing to drive to Cary! The masala chai latte is reliably good, and this time I tried their seasonal strawberry Akashmisi chai. It was summery, unique, and delicious. Second is the thoughtful service. They honestly can get slow at times when there are many people, but they often bring drinks directly to your table and add little inspirational messages on the cups (I am not a fan of the inspirational messages themselves, but always appreciate their effort of personalizing this experience and trying to bring people a smile!!)
Food, coffee, and staff were a 10/10! I had a turkey sausage, egg, and cheese waffle sandwich and a strawberry espresso lemonade. I did wish there was some syrup for my sandwich but it's not a deal breaker. They have plenty of other creative waffles as well and the prices aren't bad at all. You can also order from Town Hall Burger and Beer next door. It's a small and cozy space inside but there is plenty of outdoor seating. Plenty of parking as well.
Going to preface this review by saying that it really is quite difficult to have an exceptionally good or bad experience at a coffee shop - generally, if you can be just a bit better than a Starbucks and have a solid vibe going, I'll be impressed. That being said, People's just felt a little too sterile for it to be on my regular rotation, and nothing else really made up for it. It starts from the fake turf grass outside, and stretches to the assembly line affogato that I didn't bother finishing (soft serve and an espresso shot in a paper cup). Everything just whispers annoyingly loud enough that this came out of a cookie-cutter. Again, it's not that anything was overtly bad - people's just isn't a spot that can really compete with all of the other coffee shops that afford more personality.
Had a yummy breakfast and some drinks at People's. Came here because we saw they had plenty of outdoor seating so we could bring our dogs! The cereal waffle was good. Nothing special and a little pricey for a small waffle. however, we loved the avocado toast. It had plenty of toppings and was delicious. I wish for $11, if would've come with 2 slices of toast instead. we got 2 seasonal drinks to try. Although they were good, the thai tea cold brew tasted nothing like thai tea. Just cold brew mixed with cinnamon. Overall we spent about $30 for all of this, which we thought was a little pricey. the service was pretty fast for a tuesday morning.
On a mission to find the best matcha latte in the triangle and I can confidently say it is NOT here. It was too milk-heavy imo and the matcha was barely noticeable. When I got it, the milk was sitting at the bottom and not mixed fully. I loved the environment, there was plenty of open indoor seating on a Sunday morning. There's also a huge patio with ample space and seating for days with nice weather and sunshine. They have a lot of food options including toast, waffles, and açaí bowls which looked good but I didn't get to try. Service was friendly and fast. I would come back to try a different drink.
What a cute coffee shop!! I finally live on this side of Durham where I'm close to more stuff like People's coffee! It was mt first time visiting but I've heard a lot about it from my friends because they serve Smashed Waffles here and in college Smashed Waffles used to be my favorite place until they closed down on Hillsborough st at NC State. The outside was decorated very cute, like a lawn. It's a very nice place to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The inside is small so I'd suggest getting there early if you wanted somewhere to sit. They have barstools as well. I waited a while because there was only one person working. I had the Masala Chai Latte, and it was really good! I'd probably visit again.
Coffee and staff here are absolutely great. They will work with you and they will produce a good cup of coffee. The location is good and though the inside is small they have a nice outdoor seating area that is partially shared with the adjacent restaurant. I have knocked down a start though because in all of my coffee trips here (I live within a short walking distance). The food has had a hard time keeping in line with the quality of the coffee. I believe it to be primarily a case of them simply not selling enough of it to have everything ready prepped and fresh. However there are a few options next door if you are really in the mood for something to eat.
Little coffee shop that has a nice patio seating in front. It's connected to the business next door in the back (Town Hall Burger & Beer Durham) which it shares a bathroom with. I'm not a big coffee fan so I was here for the smash waffles. They are incredible and worth the visit! I got the savory variety with bacon egg and cheese and I would absolutely return. The cookies and cream was tasty too.
Cappuccino came out quickly and, even though there is no "real cup" option, it was well made and stayed warm while I was drinking it. The smashed waffle sandwich came out minutes later. I ordered the BFF, which is scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheddar cheese. The sweetness of the waffle mixed perfectly with the smoky, salty bacon and the eggs. I would have preferred the waffle a little more done (it was kinda doughy and chewy), but it held the fillings together well enough to deliver it to my mouth, so I was happy. The interior is very minimal. There are a few very narrow tables and a few seats at the bar (which is crowded with pastries and other things), but wide enough for a laptop and your food/drink. I thought the hall to the restroom led to a larger space in the back, but it actually just connects to the back room of Town Hall Burgers, which shares the building's set of public restrooms. Efficient. And single-user, so gender-neutral. All in all a decent place for all day breakfast and good coffee.
This place has a very nice atmosphere. Awesome service with a smiling greeting as you enter through the door. Very clean and eclectic. I like the artsy hand painted design on the walls. I love their little gift section featuring an assortment of wood-wicked candles and locally handcrafted potholders as well as their Five Star brand coffees for sale. I ordered the dark roast drip coffee which was a great blend of beans for my discerning palate. They serve nice pastries and breakfast sandwiches that will make your mouth water up, I tell ya! Located across from ALDI near Hyatt place Southpoint here in Durham. Outdoor seating available as well. read more

The coffee itself is fine, but the prices are outrageous. They also charge extra if you don't pay with cash, which feels absurd in 2026. I ordered, sat down, and was told they'd call my name when my drink was ready. After waiting quite a while with no announcement, I went up to the counter and discovered my coffee had been sitting there the whole time--they never called my name. Overall, a disappointing experience. Given the small size and high price, I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it. There are several other local spots nearby that offer much better value and service. read more

Dog friendly patio, decent selection of seasonal & standard espresso drinks, and amazing hot breakfast menu! Good place to go for a cheat meal. I got the BFF - a bacon egg and cheese on a waffle - the waffle was light and fluffy, and held together nicely. Quick service, too! read more

I really loved my iced chai that I got here. I got an iced chai with oat milk and vanilla and honey and the brand of chai that they used had a nice spice that wasn't too sweet. The barista that helped me was also very nice answering the questions I had about their seasonal flavors. read more

Limited seating but the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. I had the avocado toast and latte. I wish the avocado toast had some lemon and maybe a little more chili oil bit other than that it was good. Quick turnaround and kind, helpful personnel. read more

Hands down the best avocado toast I've ever had. And I've had a lot of them. And their waffle treats are extra special too. It's important to note the fantastic outdoor space in front of the restaurant for warm months. Brought my dog here and had a lovely breakfast!! read more

Cute place but just way too expensive. Coffee drinks come in two sizes here, small and large. That's 12oz and 16oz, or tall and grande in Starbucks terms. Menu shows prices for a small size. I ordered "large" (which really is a medium) pecan pie latte, and the upcharge for a "large" size, which is just extra 4 ounces of the drink, was whopping TWO dollars. They were out of oatmilk, but that would have cost another 50 cents, bringing a price of one medium size drink to $8.50. I'm sorry, that's just way too much even for post-covid inflated reality. I liked my coffee, it was enjoyable and had just a touch of sweetness yet familiar notes of pecan pie flavor. But was it worth it? Absolutely not. read more
Count on People's Coffee to provide great coffee and breakfast to get your day started or to keep it going. They are connected to Town Hall Burger, so check them out too. The big winners are their smashed waffle sandwiches. Think a bagel sandwich with waffles as the bun halves. I get them every time I come. They have your coffee shop staples, so you won't be without your favorite brew. They have limited indoor seating but ample outdoor seating in the parking lot. This is a great place to meet friends, grind out some work, or take a break from the constant busy. read more

Walked in, no greeting. Music blaring. The girl at the register was on the phone and completely confused so she had to get another employee to take the phone and still didn't greet me. I ordered. Insanely expensive. Over $16 for avocado toast and plain coffee and THEN she spins the iPad around for a TIP. AT THE COUNTER WHERE SHE DIDNT EVEN GREET ME. At this point, I'm so frustrated I can't see straight and should've left but I was hungry so I stayed and I tried to pay with CASH which apparently is a no-no and she said they ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE IT!! Never, will I ever return to this place.OH!!! And the menu said all breakfast items are served with fresh fruit and they gave me a salad for BREAKFAST!!! read more

People's coffee is located conveniently off 40 next to Aldi and across from Target. So it makes for a great coffee stop with you're on the go. My vanilla latte tasted a little bit diluted. Maybe it was an off morning, but it still did the trick. The smash waffles are delicious - golden outside and soft and doughy inside. Just what you want in a waffle. read more

Solid coffee shop!! Stopped by while driving through town for a caffeine break and got the iced almond milk latte. Service was friendly and quick and coffee was good/strong! They have tons of flavors and seasonal options and also a solid food menu which I didn't try. There's indoor and outdoor seating and seems like a good spot to meet a friend or do some work! read more
Very over priced for what it is. I've been here twice, first time I wasn't too happy with it but I thought I'd give it another try. 3 Substitute places that are better, better quality, environment etc! - care driade - the poplar cafe - grey squirrel :) Here is why: Pros: -They have great ice cubes that won't melt your lattes espresso, -Their waffles are decent too for what they are, good quick sandwich. -They homemade their syrups which taste good and it's nice not o see Torin syrups Cons: I just paid more for a coffee than I did for my coffee I used to get in Malibu!!! spend $8-10 there and here I spent $11.50 for a medium with extra shot. -Who the flying heck charges $1.50 for extra shot and $8 for a medium latte. - Their drinks are way too milky and sweet for you NOT to get a shot so you're forced into getting an extra one. - The staff also wouldn't put a splash of oatmilk into my fiancés cold brew instead of standard cream and said it had to be whole milk for some reason. Uh why? They put oatmilk in my latte so it's not like they didn't have it - the menu is confusing it lists lattes as $6 but doesn't say oz or size and doesn't give the price for larger, so if you ask for $6 it'll be 12oz and if you ask for a 16oz it'll be $2 more, so $8 read more

Waffle and banana bread was awesomeeeeee. the coffee was alright (5/10). Super nice vibe. However the service SUCKED.... I don't know the cashiers name but I've attached a photo of her and she was straight faced, serious, not welcoming, and it was just honestly an awful interaction. If I was the owner I would be disappointed having her here. read more
Place had good reviews and always looks packed. Service - Friendly staff and helpful. Location - Location was great as it was in the same lot as my hotel. Walking distance. Coffee - Well made good teas and coffee. Nothing special but good flavor and taste. Prices - Same as Starbucks so I guess the norm. Venue - New looking with decent seating inside and out. Peoples Coffee is a small local coffee shop that also sells some incredible waffles. Speaking of our waffle, I had a savory waffle sandwich that was smothered in cheese. It was absolutely incredible. These waffles also come in sweet versions of you are more in the mood for a dessert. I'm knocking them down a couple of stars for the coffee that I had. I ordered a toasted coconut latte, and it was borderline undrinkable. They put stringy bits of coconut in the drink which contribute to a terrible texture and consistency while drinking it. I'm excited to come back here and try some different drinks, and will update my review when I do. I'm sure it'll earn a 5 star review from me at that time. read more
People's Coffee is a solid place for a good cup of coffee, for coffee lovers. There's no gimmick to the coffee, not too many flavoring options- just a solid cup of joe. They use Black & White's Coffee beans. I love the traditional and classic. Black & White also has some special beans with added flavor notes - but I don't care much for them. I've also tried their matcha latte - which I think is decent but not amazing just because the matcha flavor was not too strong. I also recently tried their waffle - and I thought it was just ok. The sweetness and texture just did not sit right with me - but it was a decent small bite for breakfast to go with my coffee. If I were to order this again, I think the added sugar from a chocolate syrup or other additives might make this better. Overall, I would recommend to come here for good coffee! The inside of this place is decorated so cute and really clean. Employees were all so kind and patient as we looked at the menu deciding what we want. Barista at the register was really kind and talked with us and answered some questions we had about the area and made good recommendations. The food itself was SO good. Might be the best waffle you've ever tried. Waffles are so fresh and soft with the perfect amount of syrup. You can get a sweet or savory waffle and all of the ones we tried were amazing. Coffee was also really good. The white mocha was really subtle and not super sweet, the toasted coconut latte was really good, the coconut was not overpowering. The espresso was the perfect blend. They also have other breakfast options and pastries that are not waffles. Highly recommend this place for breakfast or brunch, lots of options and several vegan/vegetarian options. read more
