This is the type of place you go to because you're too lazy to drive to Chen's in Marietta or to the superb River House south of Wrightsville. They have had second and third chances from me when I know that it's likely going to be a letdown. In the past, they've gotten my order wrong and rather than offer to remake it, they argue with me that I ordered something different. Honestly, by phone there is often a communication issue which accounts for this. So I switched to ordering online. The food is ok. It's better than the worst Chinese restaurant in town, Grand China, which doesn't make the food better. It just means that they're better than the worst. If adequate is your thing, this might be the place for you. They've managed to make the location as unattractive in which to eat which, I suppose, cuts down on the need to clean it as often. My latest experience was ordering by phone because I was in a rush. I was told my order would be ready in 10-15 minutes which was perfect as I was rushing to catch a train. I stopped in 22 minutes later and was told that my order wasn't ready. In fact, it hadn't been started. As I didn't have time to wait for it I told them I couldn't wait and left. So the nicest thing I can say is that it's better than the worst restaurant in Columbia. Beyond that, it's a great place for people with really low expectations! But if you want a better experience and better food, maybe drive to Chen's in Marietta or, if you want the best Chinese food in the area, cross the bridge and make the drive to River House. read more

I don't mind a well worn interior. I don't mind waiting for my food. I don't mind a restaurant that could stand a good cleaning. I've eaten in similar places in China and if the food is good, you can overlook a lot. I had high hopes for real home-style cooking experience. In all fairness, the staff was pleasant, but the food was only ordinary. The wonton soup was badly under seasoned. It's hard to mess up an egg roll, but those of us who love Chinese food do not live by egg rolls alone . My entree was chicken with broccoli. It simply lacked flavor. The chicken was tender enough, and the broccoli was crispy, but the overall dish was bland. A little sesame oil might have saved it, but I'd like to be able to enjoy my food without having to drown it in soy sauce. Trust your cuisine to speak for itself. This past late afternoon, my friend Sue and I went out to 'New' Yang's Chinese here in Columbia, PA on this past date of Wed., 15 June, 2022. The first thing when we walked into this establishment, was the searing heat; the atmosphere was as hot as a Turkish steam bath in Istanbul, in the middl of August. Asinine. Horrible. The owner had the four fans spinning at a medium rate with the front door open, but it did precious little to cool the restaurant down. My friend and I returned there due to the fact that in all fairness, their food is very good. Fresh, hot, and delicious. And the best Wonton soup I have ever had, to boot. Seriously. The Sweet & Sour chicken... EXCELLENT. The best I have ever had. Period. There were a few problems within the establishment though which need badly to be addressed, and which causes me to subtract the missing 3 stars off of her and her husband's review. The first one being... Thr temperature was UNACCEPTABLE. Hotter than a Maccau Parrot's pucker hole in the middle of August, out in the steamy jungle of southeast Asia. Problem #2 was... An obnoxious lengthy piece of wood which was part of the framework which lines the floor separating the main dining room from the hallway to the restrooms, which nearly made me trip on my face. Problem #3... On the way to the restroom, there was a sharp jagged screen which scratched my hand because it was sticking out into the narrow hall. Problem #4... NO napkins on any of the tables, OR plastic wear, NO bowl of noodles, OR sauces. A big no-no. Shoddy performance, a grossly shoddily-kept establishment, and issue #5... When I approached the checkout counter to ask for a takeaway bag, her hubby was staring me down from the back of the restaurant. And that right there is what constitutes an unfriendly, socially retahded attitude. Not acceptable. Rude, and grossly obnoxious. And the next time somebody stares me down in some restaurant--whether it be up here or in NC, they're gonna get themselves told. Period. People need to wise up, and remember their place. Bland. I mean I legit question if I had covid because neither me nor my fiancée could taste anything. It was somewhat remarkable, how food can taste this... nothingless. That's a word I just made up because I can't describe it any other way. The vegetable lo mein has two veggies... broccoli and some shreds of carrots. Taste like... yep you guessed it! NOTHING! The only thing that had any flavor was some rotten zucchini as shown. Tastes like death. That was from some chicken and veg. We ordered egg rolls, egg drop soup, house special mei fun, moo shu pork, coconut shrimp and pork fried rice. Grubhub had a coupon that stated if we spent $40 we got a free grandfather chicken dish so I applied the coupon. We put in our order at 2:45pm with a delivery promised by 3:25pm. Food was not delivered by then so at 3:45pm I called the restaurant to confirm food order had been received. A man answered and said it was and that she (the driver) had already left. Another 10 mins went by and she came. I tipped her and signed receipt. Upon opening up the bag everything was hot and smelled great. Unfortunately the grandfather chicken was no where to be found. I called the restaurant again and the same man answered. The man who answered the phone called back to the chef who said he never made it (or at least that is what I was told by the man who answered the phone because I don't speak mandarin). First he asked if he could just apply it to my next purchase. I said no. He asked if we could come and pick it up. I said no, we had just come back from a long trip and no one wanted to go out again. He said ok I understand we will make it right. Fast forward to 4:15pm when this same man called back again and said that the manager Yang said that the coupon was for pick up only. I told him that Grubhub was delivery only why wouldn't their coupon apply. He apologized and said someone must not have taken the coupon off the website. He refused to deliver or offer any other suggestion. It's unfortunate because overall the food was pretty good except the shrimp in the coconut shrimp was soggy even before we put sauce on it and the fried rice had little flavor.
