This is my and brother's go-to for good affordable tasty fresh food served by friendly, I believe, family. After a good hike along the river trail, we stop for take-out which always includes enough for a few days' leftovers. I thought updated menus would be better but forgive my poor scanner. If there were 1/2 stars I'd go 3 1/2 ... alas, they score four. Their tofu is always done right. Fresh, springy, delicious. But what I love is the price. For some reason, this is one of the least expensive chinese places I've encountered. I can't speak their meat dishes but my mother, the rabid carnivore said unintelligible positive things while tearing through a roast pork dish. I guess she liked it too. Don't come here for atmosphere. It has none. The take out is where it's at. Also - $10 minimum for credit cards. And they're not flexible about that. Bah read more

We got the sesame chicken and pork fried rice tonight and it was not good. It was way over cooked and dry as the desert. Even the rice was dry. We have had many great meals here in the past but this one was very disappointing I wonder if they had a new cook today? We'll give them another chance but if we get another meal like this we won't be back. read more

It's the only Chinese in town. That's the only reason to order from here. The food is just ok. Nothing to write home about. They have recently had a very poor health inspection, and enough to make me travel out of town to order. One very annoying thing to add. The people that one or run this place also great it as a daycare. More than once I have gone in and the mother is paying more attention to the kid than to her job. Young children have no reason to be in a restaurant kitchen. I applaud you for wanting to be together as a family but your child's safety really needs to come first. read more

This restaurant is pretty nice and strikes you as a normal Chinese restaurant. My taste for Chinese is on the higher end of things however I have friends who eat here who very much enjoy it. What I am saying is if you frequently enjoy Chinese food of high quality then buy from here may leave you like it left me, with an unhappy experience. If you do not eat Chinese a lot and are looking for something new then this is a good place to try out the different flavors and dishes that are unique to Chinese restaurants. My General Tso's Chicken was just fine - in fact, my golden retriever even decided to eat about 1/3 of my dinner off my plate when I walked away. However, my wife ordered Chicken Lo Mein and it made her sick. So that was kind of a bummer. as a local and a regular I can say they sink or float based on the quality of meat they get in from week to week. some weeks it's the best chicken I've ever had, other weeks it's dry and blah. This is the absolute best Chinese, and we've tried all the restaurants that serve Chinese, and are a reasonable enough distance for p/u from Maytown (10mile avg.) The owners are amazing. Chen's House is my hands-down FAVORITE Chinese restaurant. They use top-notch ingredients, the people there are so friendly, and their food is very reasonably priced. My delivery guy had the biggest attitude when I was ordering my delivery. He acted as if he didn't here me when I was giving my number and even told me to hurrry up. When I got my order I had less than half of rice, and my sweet and sour chicken tasted raw. And it didn't even stop there! I only had half of what I ordered. Food just Ok never busy. Restaurant appears very dirty. One employee had a baby in the kitchen while she worked. One employee was wearing flip flops in the kitchen while cooking our food. Do not see a safe food handlers certificate anywhere in building which is required by law. Over all not very impressed. Other chinese restaurants around here much more to offer. read more

My husband and I got food at Chen's House this afternoon(7-1) and we ordered the boneless spare ribs with fried rice and egg rolls. The food tasted horrible, like it was old. I regret eating there, we both felt sick to our stomach within an hour of eating their food. I do not recommend eating here, save your money and a stomach ache. Sun Hing Restaurant on Columbia Ave. is WAY BETTER!! It is worth the drive. There food is always fresh and the owner even makes his own duck sauce, which is sooo good!!! read more
