I went to the NYBG with my friend for the summer of moomin event! We are fans and loved all of the cute moomin standees and statues around the garden. I had never been before and it's super vast and lovely. I would say that the signage could be better and that the different areas can be far apart from each other, so just keep that in mind!

2026 orchid show was beautiful! We had to go to the bathroom mid way which is a doozy in the conservatory but we were able to start over since we had rushed through most of the show. Sat outside and enjoyed the weather a little afterward. Got some popcorn but it had a weird tasting seasoning on it. The pretzel with mustard was hot and fresh though!

I can't believe I waited so long to visit the New York Botanical Garden, but I finally made a trip up to the Bronx to visit last weekend. I took the Metro North train from Grand Central to the Botanical Garden Station (which is just across the street from one of the entrances to the garden) and arrive just after 10am. I'm so glad I got there when they opened, because the Orchid Show (more about that below) is drawing a crowd! I bought my ticket online, so I was able to walk right up to the gate, have my barcode scanned, grab a map, and rush over to the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory first thing. The orchid show - "The Orchid Show: Mr. Flower Fantastic's Concrete Jungle" - is a incredible orchid show, like nothing I've ever seen before. Rather than a display of orchids, The Orchid Show is art - NYC scenes in floral arrangements: a bus stop, a laundromat, a newsstand, a brownstone, a fire escape, scaffolding, dumpster....you wouldn't think these could be made beautiful floral arrangements, but the NYBG has done it. When I arrived just as they opened, I was able to walk right into the conservatory. When I left around 1pm, there was a very long line to get in (which also means that the crowds inside were probably a hassle). If you're going on a weekend before it closes on 4/26, go early! But it's worth it. After leaving the conservatory, I wandered around the garden for a few hours: Daffodil Hill, the Cherry Collection, the Rock Garden, and walking along the Bridge Trail to the bridge, the Bronx River, and waterfall views were the highlights of my visit to the NYBG. It's a beautiful botanical garden, so expect crowds, especially in the spring when the cherry blossoms are at their peak. The lines at the Pine Tree Cafe will be long, and there will lots of traffic and tons of cars trying to park. It's a beautiful botanical garden and an easy escape from the city. I recommend it on a beautiful day!

This time visit is for their orchid show. It was our first time attending the nighttime show. It quite different on daytime exhibit presentation. There are added music, drinks , food and Photo Booth. Of course , inclusive with the higher conservatory pricing. Nighttime exhibit is quite private, sweet and elegant. I felt like I was on a date. This year theme is very beautiful. The creator presented NYC landmarks in flowery style. I loved each scenery. I enjoyed getting a different view of NY charm. I think this week is your last to see and enjoy the exhibit. Come and have fun.

An oasis in the middle of an urban jungle. I came for the annual orchid show and had a great time. Even though it was crowded, walking through the exhibits didn't feel rushed. Our tickets came with the tram ride and we learned so much about the property. It's massive! All the different areas are beautiful. The crowd on the tram literally gasped when we got to the lilac area. If you're looking for somewhere to enjoy a slow afternoon, come and walk around the grounds. So many lovely areas to take in nature.

I came here this past weekend and it was far up in the Bronx. I took the 4 train to Bedford Avenue and had to transfer to the bus BX25 or BX26 and it leaves you immediately right by the entrance of the NYBG. Since it is December 2025, there's like nothing to see. Most of the whole place is all grassy lawns and trees with no flowers. Kind of boring in my opinion. There are many nice pathways all over the NYBG to walk and enjoy the nice grassy sceneries. The park is very clean and organized with greenhouses of palm trees and big leafy plants. Other than that, there's not much going on unless you going during the spring or summer seasons. The only good thing about the park in the winter is the holiday train show in the conservatory. It is crazy packed even with different show times to fit the amount of people inside the building. Before you go inside the train show, there's a pre show trail with several trains running on tracks on top of big boulders of rock. This event is great for kids.

Stopped by over the weekend to see the orchid show and it was amazing. The weather was perfect. I took the bus tour around and went through the show indoor afterwards, the whole set up looked beautiful with pretty flowers everywhere. It's crowded though! You can also see some cherry blossoms blooming. Definitely worth checking out!

Went to the Winter Train Show hoping for a calm, twinkly evening, but it ended up much more crowded than expected. Even so, once inside, the display was beautiful--warm lights, festive décor, and impressive handcrafted NYC landmarks. The trains running through the miniatures added a nice nostalgic touch. Highlights included the live music with Christmas classics and the spiked hot chocolate. The only real downside was how hard it was to find the entrance; clearer signage would have helped. Overall, though? A festive, cozy, slightly chaotic holiday outing that I'm glad I hopped aboard for

One of my favorite places to visit in NY. I actually purchased an annual membership to make sur I visit more often. The Train Show was incredible, as usual. The last day to visit is January 9th. The grounds are always beautiful year-round. If you haven't been there before, you will want to add it to you list of NY must-sees -- especially if you are a fan of nature, landscaping, flowers, etc. It is head and shoulders above the one in DC.

The Bronx Botanical Garden has always held a special place for me. Whether it was seeing Chihuly, the orchid show, the train display a Christmas time or just cross country skiing around the grounds ... Tonight we came for a Saturday night black tie wedding entering off Mosholu Parkway where we valeted our car. The botanical gardens are the perfect backdrop for a formal wedding. The 250 acres of foliage established in 1891 houses over one million living plants next to the Bronx Zoo. At night, the Conservatory looks spectacular decorated & all lit up. We valet our car at the Garden Terrace room. We Joan outdoor ceremony. The cocktail hour was delicious with a taco & Mediterranean station. Our dinner was delicious; the artisan salad, short rib & caramel ribbon cake were to die for!

I haven't been here in over 10 years. I didn't realize how beautiful this place is. We came for the orchid show which was truly an amazing work of art. We also took the tram around the park. They also serve alcohol which you can enjoy.

Came here for the orchid show. It was extremely beautiful, and when we were here it was also cherry blossom season in full bloom. The botanical gardens was absolutely stunning.

Came here on a Sunday morning to see The Orchid Show/Mr Flower Fantastic's Concrete Jungle. The exhibit inside was bursting with many different types or orchids, and other plants, in different environments and climates. The installation is inside the conservatory and takes about 45 minutes to walk through. After finishing there, we walked all over the grounds, which amounted to over 10,000 steps. Unfortunately, nothing was really in bloom thanks to this crazy East Coast weather. Although we did make friends with a black squirrel But I'm sure come May, the NYBG will be bursting all over. Don't leave without visiting the gift shop

Ask the Community - New York Botanical Garden

Can you bring food or drinks into NYBG?

    Yes

    Is there free parking around?

Parking at the garden is for a fee. Members get a few parking passes but otherwise have to pay as well. There is very limited street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Note that there is a train station close by that is in walking distance to…

    Do they serve food?

Yes. There is an on-site cafe that serves mostly fast snacks. Nothing too fancy. Serves sandwiches cookies etc

    Is there parking here?

Yes, there is parking. I believe $20 for non members and $10 for members. Members do receive two passes for either free parking or so that someone can attend with them as a guest.

Is it worth going this time of year if you don't have tickets to the orchard exhibit? Wondering if anything in the garden to see or is in bloom? I don't want to waste a trip.

I visted for my birthday in early March, and the conservatory is what made it worth it for me. The rest of the grounds were still beautiful to walk around in, but I'd only suggest going on a free Wednesday until more flowers are in bloom. There…

If you buy a student ticket online, do they ask for your ID when your enter? Thanks!

When we've arrived, they simply scan your ticket and they do not ask for any additional identification

We're coming by car tomorrow. Is there parking within the facility?

Yes. Get there by 10AM is my recommendation.

Do you have to pay to get in?

Yes, a one time fee or join of the spot and get unlimited admission to other events for a year.

Does anyone know how long the tram tours are? and does it tour the entire garden? or do you need to take several tram tours to see it all by tram?

The tram tour goes all throughout the garden. You can hop on and off as you wish with several stops located throughout the park. So you can make it as long or as short as you please.
