My flowers came out just like the pictures & ideas we discussed. We used them for all of our ceremony,reception flowers, bouquets, ect. I'm writing this the day after mother's day (2016) to tell you that these lovely people saved myself and my mom from a very big disappointment. They turned what would be sad memory into a very happy one. Thank you so very much! History: My mom has worked as a hair dresser for approximately 30 years; she works 6 days out of 7 (and many weeks 7 days out of 7) and she works at least part of the day on every single holiday -- including Mother's Day. I live out of state and every year, for a long time now, I have pre-ordered a bouquet for her so that it would be delivered in front of her customers and co-workers, and so she can feel appreciated and remembered. She loves it. I love it. This year, brat that I am, I forgot. Its hard to overstate the sense of stupidity and dullness I felt. I spent the whole morning (in Arizona where I live) in dread and sadness, thinking of her lame Mother's day: work, work, work, but no flowers. Then I decided that, hopeless though it would was, I could still call a florist and try begging. I didn't have to beg with Riverdale Florist. I called. Their were phones ringing off the hook in the background. I'm pretty sure the woman on the other end was desperately trying to eat something in between orders. And I can guarantee you that they didn't need my business. On top of this, when I called, all I had was a credit card; I didn't even know my mom's work address nor could I remember her home address. So, basically it's a situation where I'm not offering much in return and asking for a whole lot.... They did it anyway. The person on the other end, who is obviously a Vatican anointed saint, personally knew the salon, told me how much she loved my mom, and more than that, was willing to do something just to make us happy. I hate to be the resident grump -- but it's rare to get be helped so generously these days with not much expectation in return. It's just another bouquet to them, one out of hundreds. The result? My mom sent me an absolutely beaming photograph of herself and a seriously elegant bouquet within 1 hour that I made a last minute desperate call. How was this possible? It's possible because I asked for the flowers from some very incredible, lovely, and talented florists -- who are also very kind people willing to do favors for no good reason. read more

I spoke to Connie when I phoned Sunday morning to order a funeral spray for my uncle's wake Monday afternoon. I ordered a Lavender Reflections Spray and upgraded it by $25 to a $150 size. It was one of the most beautiful sprays at the wake and it was chock full of beautiful and fresh flowers. It was a bargain considering what I've paid for similar sprays in the past. Thank you Connie and thank you Riverdale Florist for letting the flowers demonstrate how much we loved our uncle. I have ordered from them in the past as well and am always pleased with the result. roadto2016#12 "flowers.. i got plenty" Literally this florist is so reliable for any occasion! if its someone birthday and you want to do something nice for the significant other then you can come here and do just that for a rather normal price. they stay open till about ten o'clock pm, so u will be able to walk in and find something even if you happen to be rushing for that last min gift. "what fun facts are their?" well they do take debit and credit cards, as well they take cash just in case you have a few dollars.if you looking for cards of endearment they certainly have that as well! so pair that up together thats a recipe of love waiting to happen! the place is very spacious and the only time i can see anyone coming to this location is for that last min gift or during the holiday season. overall my advice would be to if your looking for that last min gift and if that person loves flowers, then your going to love having to come to this store and pick out some stems for that right gift! read more

I used them for my wedding in Long Island and they did such a great job! I got everything I wanted for nearly half the price of Long Island florists. They worried me a bit because the deliver was a few minutes late but everything came out perfect. I would absolutely recommend using them. Riverdale Florist saved the day! After receiving a horribly spray painted light blue Hydrangeas from a nearby florist, I had a mini breakdown filled with tears. I composed myself for the sake of my client, whom I will share the story with AFTER the event, I quickly called Riverdale Florist to see if they could help me. After explaining what had just happened, the woman on the phone was very sympathetic ( unlike the other woman at the "spray painted florist" who didn't even have the courtesy of letting me know that the flowers were going to be sprayed painted to begin with and instead went ahead and told me over the phone to relax because I was overreacting and that she's been in business for over 60 years and that all they do is $20,000 weddings....blah...blah...blah...errrghhh) and informed me that she had fresh natural light blue Hydrangeas which had just arrived this morning. I arrived 20 minutes later and sure enough there were my beautiful NATURAL light blue Hydrangeas. Riverdale Florist was helpful, courteous, professional, and arranged 14 FRESH steamed natural light blue Hydrangeas for me complete with fresh greens, tissue paper and ALL. This is my first Yelp review ever, but had to write because of the incredible kindness of the owners/staff of this store. For a sad occasion, the funeral of a friend's mother, the flowering plant/sapling they delivered was beautiful and so appreciated. The family and church had said that instead of flower arrangements they'd wanted something to plant in memory of this lady. Cathy and Connie took my unusual request at the last possible moment, on a busy Friday morning, and called up to their nursery to see what they had. I'd called all the online flower delivery services the day before but none of them could guarantee what kind/color of the plant would be delivered from whatever random local florist they had connections with. Through several phone calls, these ladies very kindly told me what they could and couldn't provide (not many flowering plants at this time of year), but they somehow found the perfect perennial sapling with bright red blooms called the Dynamite Crape Myrtle, which will soon be planted in St. Andrew's Church's garden. Cathy contacted me late that night to clear up a problem with my payment method, and she was still working! These people have heart and were very happy that they could find just the right gift that'll be appreciated by a whole community. read more

The flowers looked beautiful for my wedding. However, loads of problems. Main problem is she didn't listen. I asked for pedals for flower girl baskets. She put whole flowers in the baskets that were impossible to remove and she gave us a plastic bag of pedals. The flower baskets were so heavy, not 1 of the 3 flower girls could carry them. They ended up carrying plastic bags.Waste of money. I also told her I wanted the flowers on the side of the pews at the church. I told her that there was not much room in the isle of the church for columns, and if she had to use columns, they must not be put in the isle. While walking down the isle on my wedding day with my parents, I see the columns, in the middle of the isle, creating an obstacle for my parents and myself to walk past. Very dissatisfied with the lack of listening, and not providing what we requested. She also brought the flowers to us late. read more

Went in to get a plant for a housewarming gift. No one had the time of day for me -- they were too busy getting a big order together. Then someone came in to discuss wedding flowers and the owner only had eyes for them. I stood waiting to buy a plant while she went on and on with them. Not great customer service. As I left, she finally asked if I needed help. Not anymore. I went to another florist in Inwood and it was terrific. I live in Riverdale but will make the trip to Inwood for my florist needs. read more
