Picked up 2 prime ribeyes, 2 potatoes and deli pimento cheese for a special occasion. Spent a little over $90 and it was truly worth every bit of it! The butcher seasoned our steaks with the house sauce and it was the perfect seasoning to go with this meal. I twice baked the potatoes and put the pimento cheese inside the potatoes and honestly can say those were the best potatoes I've ever made! Selections at the butcher shop were great! Deli section with meats and cheeses. Seafood options if you don't like red meat. Sandwich and chips to order. Pretty good wine selection. Only con was there was not many champagne options chilled. I picked up a Sub as dinner for later! I'm glad I asked for condiments on the side because I could only eat 1/3 of this massive sandwich at a time. Yes it costed more than Publix or Subway. But it had more protein than Publix and definitely more than Subway! I took everything off the bread and wrapped the fresh toppings up then refrigerated it. What can I say? High quality products, fantastic customer service, and the best deli sandwiches you'll find in town. It is on the pricy side however that price reflects the quality of what they provide. Boar's head deli products are just consistently excellent. It was always a special treat as a child for me to get samples at the deli counter weekly with my dad and when boar's head was on sale, it was always a great day, since it was normally not in the budget. I've never been unhappy with anything I've purchased here, and there's always a smiling face at the counter. I can't say enough good things about NY Butcher Shoppe. I've been going to the one in Cahaba Heights for a long time, mainly to get their huge, delicious sandwiches and occasionally to pick up a speciality item or two for cooking dinner. This new location should be a welcome addition to the Inverness area. They probably have among the highest quality meats available anywhere. Rack of lamb, an entire brisket, whole filet tenderloin, homemade sausages, veal chops, dry aged steaks, you name it. So if you're planning on cooking a special meal, you owe it to yourself to stop here and take a look at what they have to offer. Besides the meats they also sell a good variety of wines, craft beer, seasonings, cheeses, prepared sides, and a few things you may be looking for that could be hard to find like duck fat or truffle butter or a variety of other things you may need for cooking up something amazing. Besides that...the sandwiches. They're huge. They're inexpensive. The meats are fresh sliced daily. You'll have a hard time trying to find something to eat that's as good an overall value as one of these sandwiches. I feel like it's got about 1lb of meat on it and it's only 8.99 which includes a bag of chips. You could solve the problem of world hunger by building a NY Butcher Shoppe on every corner. My coworker raves about the sandwiches at NY butcher. So here I am for lunch. The process to order was very simple with the computers on the wall. Sandwich came up in about 5 minutes. I ordered the Verrazanno on rye, and it was pretty good. Lots of meat and a good amount for toppings based on what I added (Mayo, spicy mustard, black olives, lettuce and tomato). My only complaint is the bread was a little soggy. I think if the bread was sliced thicker the sandwich would be amazing! read more

Good sandwiches and good cuts of meat but terrible service. I was treated with animosity after purchasing a product and not leaving a 15,20 or 25% tip. Normally, a cashier acknowledges your purchase with a simple "thank you ". In this store, the Rastafarian looking cashier, says nothing and gives you a look of absolute distain if you do not leave a big tip. Keep in mind that he has provided no special service. Wow, talk about a stuffed sandwich! I ordered the Verrazano, and it was MASSIVE!! All the toppings were delicious. I do wish they had given me just a little more mayo, but I added some homemade pesto to it, and that remedied the problem of slight dryness. Seriously, this sandwich was almost as big as my head. The sandwiches are hand crafted and can be personalized. One sandwich is too much for one to us so we share. Their forte, is of course the meats!
