What a cool sandwich and wine shop! Have lots of pre made meals too that you can heat and serve later. Place is clean and employees friendly You need to check this place out!

Honestly, after hearing good things about here, I have to say that the tales woven about the great food here simply did not live up to the reality. Yes, the sandwiches are big and with the amount of meat piled on it, $9.99 was a fair price, but the sandwich was barely heated, so much so that the cheese has not even begun to melt. I had ordered the Verrazano, which is corned beef, pastrami, and cheese, so this is something that you would prefer hot, or at least I would. I was also not a fan of the ordering system where you walk up to a tablet and punch in your order. It was like being in a convenience store. The butcher shop part of the store also looks very high and pricing. It was almost nine dollars a pound for preformed hamburger patties. I don't see myself returning here. There are just better options out there.

Amazing food will be coming back for sure. Nice shop very clean and tidy. Steaks looked wonderful, and had some dry aged steaks as well. Lots of great looking sausages and pork chops crusted. Didn't come prepared enough to take some home. Got sandwiches today staff were friendly and very courteous!

I would also like to add the staff is extremely personable and will help you with any questions you might have. The shop is clean and well stocked with goodies you won't find at your average grocery store

Dude....corned beef and swiss on rye? Amazing.

Excellence selection, special cuts & marrow bones! Great wine selection. Take home freezer meals. Just a great Butcher shop!

Prime fillet. The other items didn't come from here.

I am new to Cahaba Heights The people that have lived here probably know how great this butcher shop is. This was my second time to buy fillets from them. I paid the extra money for a prime cut. It was so tender you could almost cut it with a fork. They also do sandwiches and have other items like wine to buy. I plan on patronizing them regularly.

This is called the big apple sandwich which has ham turkey and roast beef on it.

( In reference to my picture I attached) I know it looks like an open face sandwich but it's actually on a hoagie roll. It looks like that because they are very generous with their portions. I liked the whole ambiance of the place. I ordered my sandwich and it was prepared pretty quickly. The taste and flavor from the sandwich was great. I was highly impressed by the place and i am not a life time cut I'm we

If you are a person who loves a sandwich that is loaded with meat, then you've come to the right place! I ordered the Manhattan which is roast beef and cheese with spices. You can add toppings as well. I added lettuce tomato and oregano. The sandwich was about 6 inches long but about 4 inches high. I would have loved to put it on a scale to see how much it weighed because it was heavy. There were very generous with the cheese too. This is definitely a sandwich that a hungry man would love! They use Boar's Head meats which are my favorite. Roast beef was nice and lean and still pink the way I like it. Sandwich was $8.99 and comes with a bag of Zapp's. Many varieties from which to pick. The sign says New York Butcher Shoppe so I was hoping for a hard roll. So if you are hoping for that as well, fuhget about it! But the roll was okay anyway. You can't eat inside but there is a nice outdoor seating area. Butcher shoppe area looks really fresh and lots of premade meals if you want a quick dinner. They also have beer and wine and lots of other goodies. Check it out!

Excellent sandwiches with tons of meat. Fresh toppings and fresh bread. Skip all other sub shops and come straight here.

Smoked 1/4 Chicken with slaw and Hoe cake. We should have both skipped the slaw, waterly thin & sweet. Fried Hoecake ok. Tater salad good as was the brisket and chicken. Service was spotty. The noise was over the top, music too loud for any conversation, inside was worse with a room full of people. All the glass makes the acoustics hard for hearing anything but noise and not so good music. Good BBQ, the Atmosphere good be much better.

Had lunch today at Martin's BBQ Joint located at 3029 Pump House Road in Vestavia Hills, Alabama…read more It's actually in the Cahaba Heights area off of Highway 280. You order at the counter, which can be a little hectic for a first-timer. Luckily for me, I knew what I wanted and quickly found it on the big menu on the wall beside me. I later noticed that people were looking at handheld menus as you entered the restaurant. There was no one in front of me when I entered, so I didn't see those. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful in answering my questions. I ordered the pulled pork shoulder tray with two sides. If you have read my reviews, you know I only eat fries, so I doubled up the fries. You are given a number and can sit anywhere in their very big (for a BBQ joint) indoor dining area, or you can sit on a patio or outside. The walls are COVERED with pictures of old movie posters, country music stars, album covers, car tags, signs, and even a picture of the NWO (IYKYK). I didn't see the required Alabama BBQ joint picture of The Bear, Alabama football coach Paul Bryant, but with so many things on the wall, I'm sure it has to be there somewhere. There is a separate 'To-Go' spot for placing orders on the run. This also looked like a bar area as I saw advertising for alcohol. They also offer T-shirts and hats for sale if that is your thing. The menu consists of burgers, tacos, brisket, chicken, catfish, smoked chicken wings, BBQ nachos with just about any kind of side you can ask for, and pie for dessert. My order was brought to me in a timely manner. The BBQ is West Tennessee-style whole hog that Martin's cooks low and slow over hickory wood for up to 24 hours. The pulled pork is melt-in-your-mouth delicious, topped off with their special Jack's Creek BBQ sauce, on the table, which is a sweet vinegar and pepper-based sauce. I did see other sauces behind the counter, so I'm sure you just have to ask. The portions were just right for me. The fries are real cut potatoes that have been peeled. I doubled up, and that was enough to feed a family of four. Next time I will just ask for one side so as not to waste fries. The Jack's Creek sauce was great poured over my fries; it is water-based and not thick, and that is how I like my sauce. The sweet tea wasn't as sweet as some places, but I'm not complaining; it was good, and the day was hot. There seemed to be a lot of staff working. I guess it can be busy on Saturdays for lunch. I visited around 2:30 pm, and it was not crowded when I arrived but picked up as my time went on. The staff didn't have anything to say as several walked past me while doing random things. Not that it's a bad thing; I just always acknowledged customers with a "how ya doing?"--little things. The music was a mix of classic rock, soft 70s to hair metal, set at a decent volume. I don't mind being able to hear the radio, but maw maw and paw paw may complain that it was too loud. The parking lot may fill up with a big dinner crowd as there is a business next door that shares the parking lot. There is handicap parking available. Overall, Martin's offered a cool atmosphere for BBQ and a relaxing meal. They offer live music some nights (check their website), and it seems to be a great place for socializing in a casual setting. 5/5 -Kevin
