Ordered several things from this deli for what is my first order but probably won't be my last for 1 reason only: the cheese steak The good: The cheesesteak was the perfect sized. Generously stuffed with steak. Even ordering delivery it was still warm. And the bread was just a plain french bread but it was substantial enough to hold onto to all the cheese steak goodness. They did mess up the order quite a bit. I asked for pickles lettuce and mustard as my only condiments. What did I get? Lettuce. Check. Tomato. Wrong. Mayo. Wrong and gross. And no mustard. Boo. After picking things off. Scraping the mayo out and doctoring it up with my own mustard it was good. The mediocre: The fries I ordered were decent steak fries. They arrived hot which was nice and a great amount of seasoning. It tasted like salt pepper and something I couldn't quite figure out. Steak fries are not my fav which is why I say mediocre. The ugly: The mozzarella sticks were just bad. They cheese wasn't even melted and the dipping sauce was ice cold. Lastly, the jalapeño poppers. I honestly love this place. Some of the sandwiches are a little bland (hence the 4 stars), but they all will fill you up!! What I keep coming back for us that potato salad . That salad is smack yo mama good. I'm so finicky with potato salad since I feel like so many people mess it up but they get it right EVERY TIME. Everything I've gotten from New York Deli is delicious. The Yankee Stadium Special and the Steak & Cheese sub are particular favorites of mine. I keep ordering new sandwiches to explore and can't wait to try all of them. They are just ... really good. I've used Grubhub for delivery to work and that has only amplified my experience. Delivery is always on time, food is still hot and fries/onion rings are still crispy. They are very responsive if anything is awry with the order - even when it was my fault. Cannot recommend enough. When I move to College Park, I fear for my wallet because I will be ordering MUCH more regularly. Can't recommend enough if you're in the mood for a sandwich. read more

The cooks were amazing. U thoroughly enjoyed my food. The only bad part of my experience came from the lady with the British accent. I later found out she is the owner of the estqblishment. She is a very condescending person. Her tone of voice in which she speaks with paired with her rude attitude is appalling. I have visited this Establishment twice. Once for delivery and once in person for pickup. I'll start with the delivery. Before even seeing the food, the care with which they packaged our food was very thoughtful. Napkins and condiments were placed in small bakery sized paper bags which !ade it easy to find and distribute amongst out team. I ordered the pancake and western omelette. The pancake is very large and come with as an order of one. The perfect sweetness. The omelette was equally as delicious. Full of veggies, cheese, and ham. Everyone orders a variety of breakfast items and enjoyed them. My second visit was I'm person. The store has a great bit of seating. Be careful of the rugs at the register... It was a little more frantic this date. Many orders were incorrect and there was no change in the register. This didn't affect customers as they rounded the change due to the next dollar. There seemed to be confusion on who took orders etc. The staff were very pleasant in spite of what was happening in the store AND our food was correct. Amongst the team we tried the BBQ sandwich, hot wings, cheeseburger, the pancake and bacon. Everything was delicious. I personally had the cheeseburger with chips. Thanks for the pickle spears! That made my day. They currently have a Groupon going. I will definitely take advantage and try some of The delicious sandwiches on the menu. We were hesitant after seeing the other reviews and when we first drove into the parking lot (it looks a little run down). But this place is a gem. We got the pastrami and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in years. Going to go back for the Reuben next time. The sandwich had no frills, it was a simple pastrami sandwich. But it was perfect. Great pastrami, great bread, great mustard. The fries were perfectly crispy (they are those thick wedge cuts that are inevitable soggy), but these were perfect. I decided to give this place a try on a whim, on a sick day at home from work. The best thing about this "New York Deli" were the mozzarella sticks. I shouldn't have had them, but I was craving ooey-gooey cheesy goodness...however, I got something else all together: disappointment. The sticks, they're only redeeming quality, were too overcooked. I found the macaroni and cheese so pre-made and processed (just by the look & smell) that I didn't eat it, and the knishes were good but dry. The only way I can think to describe the knishes is that the dough tasted older than the filling. The dough was thick and tough, not flakey. This was my first (and probably last) visit...unless I'm car-less and desperate for knish... However. I found a hair in my knish upon eating. We ordered subs for a lunch event. I got a grilled chicken sub, which came with a pickle quarter and a tiny handful of chips. The sub was incredibly bland. It consisted of a texture-less roll with an excessive amount of mayo, this was topped with one thin layer of lettuce, two tomato rings (ill explain this in a second), and two pieces of utterly flavorless "chicken". At the very least they could have added some kind of seasoning, salt would have been a great start. On to the tomato rings. These were sliced from an unripe run of the mill large size little flavor tomato. It was as if someone had scooped out the innards of the tomato in an attempt to hide something. The insides of the tomato are the best part, especially the gelatinous ambrosia that surrounds the seeds. There is never any good reason to do this, it should be a crime. The sandwich was a complete disappointment, and furthermore the 8-10 chips which were included in the Styrofoam container were soggy when I opened the box. Well let me start by saying this was my very FIRST time going into this place. As you walk in, it looks like a hole in the wall type place but as u keep going to the right there is a sit-down restaurant style seating area that has a very homely feel to it very nice! I kinda had in mind what I wanted but as far as a menu it seems as if only there sandwich menu is posted above the register. There full menu is posted as u walk in on the glass window. The staff is very easy to talk to and very nice. Now for as what I ordered I got the pastrami sandwich with mustard and pickles with a side of fires. I must say this was the first time I ever ordered a pastrami sandwich and I must say it was DELICIOUS as far a the french fries they were steak cut fries that were pretty well done in the fryer which made them even more DELICIOUS with the side of ketchup given to you. Just remember this is a hole in the wall place that is a diamond in the sand. From what I can tell you this place is great the only reason why I give it four stars is that it could use a little bit more advertising and a a little remodel. I had such rave reviews of New York Deli, until just recently. After ordering from them once a week for the past month or so, via a third-party delivery site, I was very pleased. Their food is very good and really does remind you of some tasty eats in the heart of New York. They have a great variety of sandwiches and subs, not to mention the tasty potato knishes. Unfortunately, customer service just completely blew any good report on them. I ordered a sandwich from them, which as usual took a bit of time (they're very busy). When I finally was able to look at it, they'd gotten the toppings wrong... including a key topping that made me order the sandwich in the first place. Phone tag between the delivery company and New York Deli, over the course of 45-60 minutes, with different stories from either... and all I'm being offered is "store credit on your next order". Worse, the manager "Ashley" kept going on with excuses about how this wasn't their fault, this was the best they could do, and I should be happy seeing as I got a double-meat sandwich for cheaper than I should have. So yeah, thanks to "Ashley", this Yelper is going to warn people AGAINST using New York Deli. Sure, the food is good, but that doesn't excuse horrible customer service and management that tries to pass the blame. If you've got nothing better to do, and want to deal with that sort of customer service, feel free. Otherwise, just go somewhere else. read more

I probably order from New York Deli once a week. First, the food is great. I have had a few different things, although as vegetarian I cannot speak to the meat items. The vegetarian options are delicious and extremely well priced. The meals are big enough to make a complete meal. Delivery is amazing. For example, last night I was told to expect delivery at 6:45 (eta) and it came at 6:10... less than 30 minutes from time of order. The delivery guy is always friendly and even made sure I got my package left from the mailman in. I've only been in the restaurant itself once, and it's not necessarily the prettiest looking place- but who goes to a deli style restaurant expecting fancy seating. This place has great food, reasonable prices, and kind and generous staff. My mother-in-law lives in the neighborhood and we have enjoyed the food here for several years. We stop by often and whatever we get is great. They are aware that my mother-in-law is having early signs of dementia and they have been looking after her, helping her with her phone orders. Even though she is not always articulate when she calls, they know what she likes and deliver the food she wants. It's great there still some mom and pop business in your neighborhood that knows their neighbors and care about them. read more

I was really freaking impressed with my order. First, I got the brisket deluxe sandwich, this was hella delicious. The brisket was so perfectly flavored, it was like a steak and cheese sub on toast! It was paired with a crisp pickle spear and chips. Quite unique! Being that most burgers pair with fries (I'm not a fries fan). The presentation was astounding, as was for my other orders included! It was split in half, with each pair topped with a festive toothpick, how cute! I also got the egg salad sandwich, again extremely fresh and amazingly good. It wasn't what I expected for egg salad, but it was fresh, which is still a plus! Additional item I got was the egg and cheese bagel, it was not bad! What really gets me excited about this place is their endless meal options. I have never been to a place that offers such an extensive selection of sandwiches and breaded items. I purchased a two part Groupon and went by today to pick up a call-in order-- the Falafel pita sandwich for me and the Cold Cut sub (Italian) with a side of pasta salad for my husband. Sadly, both sandwiches were really bad; my husband barely touched his and he usually eats just about anything placed in front of him. My falafel was dry and chalky and the sauce was bitter, yuck! I took just a few bites, each bite tasting worse and worse. The Italian sub had no seasoning/ dressing (as advertised), was dry, and full of onions. The pasta salad had too much pepper and even the pickle spears tasted off. I'm shocked and saddened as I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, I still have another Groupon to use here.
