I've known about Crofton Depot for a while but just recently got a chance to stop in on my lunch break, and I'm glad I did. So far I've tried the California Powerhouse and the Turkey Club, and both were stacked with fresh ingredients. The portions are solid, and you can tell they're not skimping on anything. The Powerhouse came on a Kaiser roll and the club on white bread, and both held up really well. I've gotten fries on the side each time. They're cooked well, but they come out unsalted and a little bland on their own. That said, once you add some ketchup, they're perfectly fine and do the job. Service has been quick both times I went. I stopped by around 11:30 during the week (Thursday and Friday), and there was no line either time. From ordering to getting my food was about 5 minutes total, so it's definitely a solid option for a quick lunch. The shop itself is very clean and welcoming, and the staff has been friendly and helpful on both visits. Ordering is simple, though I did notice some of the same sandwich names listed in different sections with different prices, which was a little confusing. I meant to ask about it but forgot. They have a wide selection of deli-style sandwiches (hot and cold), plus cheesesteaks and burgers, which I haven't tried yet. For a sandwich, fries, and a drink, it's been a little over $18, but with the portion sizes and quality, I think it's worth it. I'll definitely be back. I'm especially interested in trying their breakfast since this area doesn't have a lot of strong breakfast spots, so I'm curious to see how they compare. read more

Food is made to order, yet I haven't had to wait more than 20 minutes when walking in. Most people carry out, but occasionally, they sit and watch loyal customers pick up their orders and see the staff interact with them. Always friendly and service-minded. I really wanted to like this place .. but I can see why it was empty on a recent morning. Food was OK: an omelet, bacon, fried potatoes & coffee. Nothing to write home about. Ambiance was clean-ish with no personality or character. Meh. On the way out, asked if I could top up my (self-serve) coffee. The proprietor coldly refused; wanted to charge me for another coffee. Customer service was great. The gentleman at the front was really friendly and personable. The restaurant was clean and there were tables available for dining in. I ordered the Signature, which is a chicken sandwich with pesto, provolone, lettuce, and tomato on a ciabatta bread, and a side of fries The sandwich alone was $11 and the fries were about $4.50 so I didn't spend more than $20. I guess that's norm for lunch these days. The sandwich was really good and had a great combination of flavors. The fries were crispy how I like them but they needed salt or seasoning. I had the Real Powerhouse sandwich, which came stuffed with havarti cheese, alfalfa sprouts, cucumber slices, honey mustard, green peppers, lettuce, and tomatoes on a multi-grain bread. It was stacked and super fresh - you can tell that this was made with such love and care! I also love the fact that their regular sandwiches are offered all day, so if you do come early in the morning, you're not only stuck with the breakfast menu! I didn't even know it existed for the longest time until I noticed it one day while waiting for my food from dominos next door. We order from here at least once a week or so. Their breakfast is soo good, they have so many options. But I'm here for the tuna sandwich. Hands down the BEST tuna sandwich I've EVER had. I tried this spot for the first time today. The place is located off of Defense Highway, tucked away inside of a shopping center or "in the cut" as we used to say. There is a nice couple running the place. I was greeted upon entry and spent a few minutes looking over the menu. I settled on the Virginian sandwich with a bag of chips. It comes with turkey, ham, provolone, bacon, lettuce, tomato and honey mustard on a croissant. I added a bit of mayo. Every sandwich I've had has been fresh and piled high with fixin's. My favorite is the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich. The place is small (less than 10 tables) and it does get busy around lunch time (11-12pm) so I would suggest calling in your to-go order if you're on a time crunch.
