Poor ethics practice by the management/owners. Taking money and offering nothing in return is a con.

Sucks that's theirs only two gyms in this town. Your monthly prices are crazy and $25 for a one day trial is even more crazy!

Not much service - the employee at the counter was not that helpful and I had to figure out myself that I needed to fill out a form for the Sushi Burrito. I ordered their Icy Jasmine Tea Latte with boba and Sushi Burrito (you fill out one of the forms on the side for what you want in the burrito and hand it to an employee at the counter). The tea latte was good, I like the creaminess to it with a subtle tea taste to it, but I wished they gave more boba, especially for a tall cup. The sushi burrito was a bit small for the price point, but they do not charge for some toppings that other poke spots charge for, which is a plus. Quality of toppings was decent, but the salmon could have had been more fresh. It was a bit unorganized here and it seems like some of the employees do not know what to do or what they are doing. At one point multiple people were making sushi burritos and they were making all these other orders, while I was just standing there for at least 20ish minutes. I was finally noticed by an employee and asked for my order number. She made my food, while the other employee was supposed to make my drink, but I guess he just set up the cup with the boba in it, but never made my drink, so I had to wait even longer. Overall, they have a good concept with having a variety of drinks, food items, and snacks, so it is good for groups to come here to eat and makes it easy because there should be something on the menu for everyone. It seems like they have too much items on their menu without enough employees or at least a more organized setup / system.

ShiFu Ding Wei is a master teacher of the art and also a top tier trainer able to identify and prescribe practices to help individuals advance. Compared to other programs we have tried, Champion Wushu keeps the participants more active with a full session of training and practice, with attention to the individual participant needs. ShiFu Ding provides direct master to student instruction to all, whereas other programs have students learning from assistants or junior teachers. ShiFu Ding is welcoming of students of all experience levels and abilities. He provides the same level of time and care regardless of talent within a student. Our daughter has deep challenges with focus and attention, and ShiFu Ding is able to tailor his approach to meet these challenges with patience and understanding. He is more than a coach. He is a mentor. Additionally each of his advanced students demonstrates athleticism and capability that exceeds any other school we've seen. The students are truly amazing! Champion Wushu teaches a powerful total body art that balances top level athleticism with true martial capabilities. To the trained eye, the martial potential is ever present, but the activity develops a a lifetime of strength and accomplishment.

I'm older (46) so my body clearly isn't at optimal learning age for this kind of activity - but I go to challenge myself and do what I can at my own pace. Coach Ding is a tough teacher, but he is always concerned with proper form and safety first. What I also really like about these classes is that you can be a competing advanced student or you can be a complete beginner and Coach Ding will still give you the same amount of individual time and expert coaching to help you improve at your level. He teaches every single class himself. For adults who are interested - try it and do your best! The workout is harder than crossfit and you get to learn Chinese martial arts while you're at it. 3 years later I notice that my flexibility, strength and especially mobility are greatly improved due to learning here. You can also learn tai chi or bagua if you prefer those styles (which I would like to do eventually...) For parents - the children at Champion Wushu are very disciplined and work super hard. Coach Ding has high expectations. I notice that he teaches not only the mechanics of the movements, but how to break them down and practice them, and then how to polish them - and the kids learn so quickly this way. This isn't just a martial arts mill churning out belt tests for cash - which I've definitely observed at other schools. I've watched several kids becoming amazing competitive athletes at Champion Wushu.

He and his son and another sensei teach my daughter's kenpo class, where they do learn kata and forms, but they always make sure you know what the moves are a response to. In fact, that's Stan's first question almost every time: "why are you doing this?" Hard to believe this quality of martial arts instruction exists in small-town Galt.

I haven't been to his dojo in downtown Galt, but he used to have classes in his backyard(or garage on rainy days) which was quite the experience. I remember one day, trying to do a form while he distracted our eyes with a water hose...haha. He didn't do that often but he was always trying to find new ways to mix things up for us. I really appreciated how different it was compared to the usual karate place, where you can see yourself doing forms in the mirrored walls, he emphasized body control- knowing where your foot is(without looking) so that you don't screw up the technique for example. I don't know how his classes are currently, but I think he provided great real world tactical self defense back then and have no doubts that he's still a great teacher. I wish I had stuck with it longer than I did.

Eastern Ways easily exceeded our expectations. They were very organized and kept the kids' interest at all times. A group of energetic 10 year olds sitting at attention is an impressive feat. The party content was tailored to our son's interests and even included Kung Fu weapons forms demonstrations. The party room was decorated beautifully and the staff was attentive to the needs of the kids, as well as the parents. The pizza was purchased from a local supermarket but all the kids asked for seconds (I had thirds). Soda and water were the drink options. We brought cupcakes from home and they supplied the candles. They had a unique way of having the birthday boy blow out his candle. There were 5 staff members doing the demonstrations and tending to the guests. They checked with us before they did anything to make sure it was ok. We've had numerous birthday parties for our boy's and these folks are tops in service and courtesy. Each guest received a week of training as part of their goodie bag. Our son is already chomping at the bit to redeem his.
