Gary inspected the ring in great detail and made a recommendation to remove some of the shank and rebuild it, as well as to place tension springs to prevent spinning and slipping. He took his time to measure my finger for the optimal fit. I was told by another jeweler that all of my prongs needed replacement and I wanted a second opinion. Gary again took his time to inspect all the prongs and reassured me that they didn't need replacement. I was very glad for his honesty. The next business day, Gary fixed the ring in 3-4 hours and it came out beautifully. I was so nervous previously to entrust someone with my ring, but I felt at ease. Gary offered that I stay and watch the entire process. He told me to inspect my gemstone carefully after his job was complete as general good practice after having my jewelry worked on! I am so happy with the end result and strongly recommend this jeweler. The key factors that impressed me most were honesty, trustworthiness, attention to detail, patience, mastery of his craft, and sharing of knowledge/providing an understandable rationale for his decision-making. Literally YEARS... I had three bracelets and I wore one of them 9 years ago to a wedding, and I have no idea about the other two. I learned a lot about diamonds and gold while I was there, and Dave gave me some suggestions as well as a price for the others. I had no doubt that this was a good deal and there was no pressure to sell (which you may get elsewhere). I left with my money, keeping two items for now and will keep them under consideration. There is parking right out front, and they are open Monday - Saturday. Dave is great and I met his son as well, nice guys who have been doing business in Newton for decades!
