I brought in my antique engagement ring that was incorrectly resized by a previous jeweler resulting in an oval shank. I had concerns about the ring spinning despite resizing. Gary inspected the ring in great detail and made a recommendation to remove some of the shank and rebuild it, as well as to place tension springs to prevent spinning and slipping. He took his time to measure my finger for the optimal fit. I was told by another jeweler that all of my prongs needed replacement and I wanted a second opinion. Gary again took his time to inspect all the prongs and reassured me that they didn't need replacement. I was very glad for his honesty. The next business day, Gary fixed the ring in 3-4 hours and it came out beautifully. I was so nervous previously to entrust someone with my ring, but I felt at ease. Gary offered that I stay and watch the entire process. He told me to inspect my gemstone carefully after his job was complete as general good practice after having my jewelry worked on! I am so happy with the end result and strongly recommend this jeweler. The key factors that impressed me most were honesty, trustworthiness, attention to detail, patience, mastery of his craft, and sharing of knowledge/providing an understandable rationale for his decision-making. My fiancé and I came into Persona Jewelry looking for an engagement ring, and we did not have a good experience here. The woman who worked with us was checking her phone for most of the time that she was helping us. When she did stop looking at her phone to speak to us, she pressured us to buy with questions like "so which ring do you want to buy?" and didn't offer much advice or information on the jewelry, even though we said that we were just starting our ring search. We didn't feel like we were taken seriously or given much attention, even though the store wasn't busy at the time. The only good thing about our visit was talking to Gary, who was attentive and took the time to answer our questions. We visited a few other jewelry stores afterward, where the sales associates actually worked with us to help us understand the various cuts and shapes of rings and stones and to find a ring that we liked, and we had a much more pleasant experience. We had high hopes for Persona Jewelry since it has so many positive reviews, but we left the store with a bad taste in our mouths and would not recommend it to anyone else. read more

Last Halloween, my girlfriend broke a spiderweb tiara from H&M that she had owned for years and years. It had a lot of sentimental value, and I put a lot of effort into finding a replacement online. But after searching and searching, I never even found a single image of it, let alone someone I could buy a replacement from. For her birthday this year, I decided to try to get it repaired. I called jeweler after jeweler, and most of them could only do it if it were made of silver or gold. They couldn't repair base metal costume jewelry. Eventually, a man at Small Pleasures recommended I come to Persona and suggest they do a soft solder on the breaks. I brought the tiara here, and they were very helpful. The man I spoke with made sure to ask about exactly how the tiara was supposed to sit and various other details. He also warned me that he couldn't make it very strong, and that it could easily break again, because he was going to have to solder it the same way it was done when the tiara was first made. I told him that was fine, because it wasn't very strong to begin with. Then he told me that he could have it done in two weeks. I said I needed it in about four days (a Thursday), because I had taken so long in my attempts to find a jeweler who could do it. He said that was fine, and he could have it done by Tuesday. I was shocked, and extremely pleased. Overall, they did a lot to help me out with this repair. The price was right, they were able to do it quickly, and in the end, the tiara looked almost like new. They were trying to fit together two twisted pieces of metal, and when they were done, you could barely tell it was ever broken. They also never made fun of me for how strange the object was I was getting repaired. If I ever need any other jewelry repairs in the future, I will definitely be coming to Persona. read more

It's in a hotel near Fenway, not the jewelers building downtown, but Gary will give you expert repair work for a reasonable price - better, I thought, than some work I had done in the jewelers building. Irina is so friendly and makes the whole exchange very pleasant. She and Gary were very knowledgeable and Gary knew exactly what would be required to alter my ring. The standard turnaround is 1-2 weeks but Gary generously agreed to my rush request of a few days. The work done was outstanding. He seamlessly altered the ring, and also fixed a crack that was there (that myself and previous jewelers hadn't noticed beforehand). I recommend them for repairs, resizes, and also new jewelry - the rings on display were completely stunning, and a variety (from dainty and understated to bold statements) of exquisite and unique styles that I would definitely consider if in the market to buy. This place is great. I came here after reading Dave F's review about his Gfs tiara and figured it was the right place for me to go so that I could get my GFs necklace fixed. It wasnt your standard chain, but I prayed they would be able to reconnect it somehow and attach the one pearl that had fallen off. They were not able to tell me if it was possible over the phone or to even quote me a price (which is pretty understandable). To my luck they were able to completely restore the necklace while I waited (about 10 min). Additionally, the people who work there are all very friendly and chatted me up while I waited. The repair ended up costing $15. Great place to check out to get things repaired. read more

When we planned our elopement, one of the last things we thought of was the rings. We were toying between a few ideas, but the day came when we had to make a call. That day happened to be a Sunday, and consequently, most jewelers were shut. When I searched Yelp this place was open and had good reviews and so we thought we would check it out. The setting is very nice, almost too nice for us, in the bowels of the Commonwealth, and the shop itself is rather opulent - which isn't usually our type of thing. When we went in we were greeted by Irina who is great, really helpful and a lot of fun, and knowing we didn't really know what we were doing she was a great help giving lots of ideas. They totally got what we needed and understood what we wanted, there was no stress no pressure, it was like having a friend help you pick stuff out. In some ways the styles of what was on display didn't exactly match ours, but this didn't matter at all. When we talked it through with Irina she helped us understand what was possible, and made sure that Gary (the jeweler) knew every detail. They were able to turn out rings around within a few days in time for our wedding which was impressive. When I went in to get my ring altered a little, they were so happy to help and it was all done within an hour (resizing and changing the design slightly) and all of it was free of charge. We were delighted with the whole process and can't recommend them highly enough! read more

Unfortunately I lost the ring about a month before my wedding. We went in to discuss possible engagement rings. Gary went through varies settings, stones, even went so far as to show us exact color combos with loose stones he had so that we could have a visual of our self designed creation. They have an amazing selection of jewels for ALL price ranges and the sales staff does not suddenly loose interest in you if you claim to have a budget lower than 250.00. They work with you!! I've gotten some amazing pieces here--beautiful necklaces. I've also gotten some repairs done. Gary took a old pair of vintage turquoise earrings and make them look like new--he replaced the stone and re-did the clip. They looked like brand new. The selection is most impressive. I got engaged in Dec 2007. My fiance wanted me to help pick out the ring. We went to so many stores and looked online and couldn't find anything like what I wanted. When we asked at a particular high end store (blue), we were told "that doesn't exist; you are going to have to go with something different." We did some research online and found that Persona had great reviews and that Gary did custom pieces. We went in to meet with him and he said he could do anything we wanted. I didn't quite know what I wanted. Fast forward almost 2 years later my fiance and I made an appt in NYC to meet with an amazing diamond dealer who deals exclusively with antique cut stones. We got a great deal on a gorgeous antique diamond. We brought the diamond to Gary with a handful of sketches and some "inspiration" photos of rings I found online. We met with Gary for about an hour. We talked through the design for both the engagement ring and matching wedding band, and I answered all of his questions. He took measurements of the diamond, we paid the deposit, and he said if he had questions he'd call us and have us come in to make sure they were both exactly what I wanted. He said he thought it'd be 8-10 weeks. Exactly 9 weeks after our appt we got an E-mail saying that the rings were done. We brought in the diamond for him to set. Both rings are GORGEOUS. They are exactly what I envisioned. Gary does beautiful work. We could tell he was proud of the work he did as well. He said the crown of the e-ring was a "masterpiece." I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend Persona Jewelry+ to anyone. They have beautiful pieces and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. read more

Amazing! I wanted a replica of a family wedding band, which was braided gold. Most jewelers said they could not do it and the ones that could would only create a mold of it and copy it that way, not actually braid the gold, EXCEPT for Persona. The staff at Persona are informative without being judgmental or pushy. They created my fiance's engagement ring and were helpful every step of the way. They told us the terms for styles when we brought in pictures, taught us lots about sapphires, showed us some examples, and worked easily within our budget. While they had plenty of suggestions and questions to make sure that we were getting what we wanted to get, at no point did they pressure us to change our decisions when were breaking from tradition. We came in just for conversations about rings twice, and they were perfectly patient and willing to help us. In the end, they were happy to work with us on a custom design. The ring itself is just what we wanted, and they were very accurate about the price and how long it would take to complete. We've also had rings resized here, and they were timely, affordable and resized the rings perfectly. We will definitely be back here to pick up wedding bands or any other jewelry we ever want to buy. I popped in recently during a snow storm for a simple watchband adjustment. The sales woman was very accommodating and helpful especially considering that I was practically bleeding snow all over her floor. The jewelers were able to add links to the watch I brought in (I brought in the links too) and finished in less than 10 minutes and only charged me $10.00.
