    Lamb on Pita
    Robert K.

This was great. I really enjoyed it the lamb was good as was the chicken. But the real star of this was the pita. It was hot and fluffy with a crisp and tasty. I came just before noon and there was no line and my order was done in minutes. They dropped the fries in the oil just for me. The area around the restaurant was a bit rough but that's to be expected in any down town area. Will be coming back next time I'm in Pittsburgh

Delicious falafel and fries!!! Definitely recommend. Also very affordable prices. Also $1 soda is a plus as well.

Kavsar is a family-owned restaurant that feels like a hidden local gem and a great escape if you want to try something new. This was my first time having Uzbek food and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the Lagman with beef, Samsa beef, the Kavsar boat with chicken, and a bottle of water. It was definitely a lot of food for one person, but I wanted to try a little of everything and I'm glad I did. Everything tasted fresh, hearty, and homemade. One tip: don't get too full on the main dishes. Save room for the Honey Cake for dessert. It's absolutely worth it and something you don't want to miss. If you're in Pittsburgh and want a cozy spot with great food and welcoming vibes, Kavsar is a fantastic place to check out.

We were going to try the sweet crepes too, but were stuffed after the kachapuri. There were many vegetarian options. The waiter was helpful and nice and we didn't wait long for the food to come out. The stmosphere is toned down and quiet, petfact for a mealtime conversation. Decore was appealing and warm too.

It is unassuming from the outside and seems tiny when you enter, but don't let that fool you! First, they have an entire extra room of seating in a space next door (that seems to have been recently remodeled). The menu has a nice variety of options listing hot and cold appetizers, main entrees, sides and desserts. They specialize in Uzbek Cuisine which is quite different in some areas, but also similar to other cuisines with certain dishes. There are a variety of dumpling entrees and also fried dough/fried pocket items. One of the favorites among my family is the fried pelmeni which are small, beef filled dried delights. Perfectly fried, bite sized and packed with flavor. They are served with sour cream and a sweet chili sauce, but you don't really need any dipping sauce because they are so good on their own. Another appetizer we love is the cheburek, a beef filled fried pastry similar to something like an empanada. For entrees, I've had the Uzbek plov several times. Rice with carrots raisins and lamb. The lamb is tender and perfectly seasoned. It is one of those dishes that I am stuffed but can't stop eating because it is so delicious. The pelmeni soup is another highlight. Perfect for a cold day or to give you an ultimate comfort food meal. Service is usually pretty attentive (although if you end up in the extra room it will be on the slower side but still good). There is street parking right in front of the restaurant, but if there isn't space, there is also a municipal lot about a block away. The one down side is that if they are busy, it can take quite awhile to get food. But the wait is worth it! If you are looking to try something new and different, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed!

The restaurant is small with several outside seating tables, casual, and intimate. Staff were very friendly. Pricing was reasonable. Street parking available. Highly recommend.
