I was excited to try this place because I've been craving halal food. I got the falafel platter and was disappointed- the rice was a bit crunchy and the only vegetables in my platter were 2 peppers and a bit of lettuce. The pictures online show other items in the platter such as tomatoes, onions, and pita bread which was misleading. I also wish the portion sizes were slightly larger. However, I enjoyed flavors of the falafels and sauces and the people working the cart were also very friendly.

Truly a taste of New York in Pittsburgh! Granted it's not the same but it's a refreshing look for our campus! My friends and I shared two COMBO PLATTERS. The combo platter included chicken, lamb, and salad. It was a good amount of food, filling and tasty. I especially liked the lamb and white sauce!! The price is also aMAzInG!!! The platter is only $6.99. Sadly, it was just one man running the whole truck so the line became pretty backed up. Because of how busy it was he forgot to give us hot sauce, but he was super efficient and friendly!! Will definitely return in the future when I'm craving halal food and low in funds!

Wish I could give this place 10 stars! By far no joke the best food I have ever had delivered to me. I'm usually a regular at Aladin Eatery, Salonikas or Saleems but Halal has just taken over the number one spot. The chicken and lambo combo is absolutely stellar and the white sauce is like a drug lol. The meat was super seasoned and very tender. The chicken was more of like pulled chicken (which I prefer) and was also super flavorful. WARNING! Be careful with the hot sauce they have because it is the real deal. I will be ordering from them at least once a week now.

I found this gem back in December 2019, and I can now proudly call myself a regular. As someone who lived in New York City for five years and have had plenty of 53rd and 6th Halal Guys, I can vouch for these guys doing an excellent job in serving their customers with great tasting food. The service is also quick and efficient. I have met John, Karim, and Herbert since I order usually during the daytime. All three gentlemen are hardworking professionals who ensure they get the order right and are respectful to everyone. I can attest to the great quality of the lamb and chicken platters because they're my go-to orders. You will not be disappointed with any of their food. Honestly I recommend getting both the red and white sauces for the full, authentic experience; the white sauce definitely checks out if you're familiar with NYC's Halal Guys' platters. Also the order you place generally comes with a beverage of your choosing. The meat is halal which is the most important quality. It is freshly prepared and cooked with care. The rice is what takes the platter to another level. The vegetables served on the side add a fresh component to balance the meat, rice, and sauce. As a current student now, I make it a goal to have these guys' platters on a weekly basis; sometimes if I'm feeling bold I get it multiple times during the week. I always post pictures of these platters to my IG stories, and I tell my classmates to try this place. More of the Yinzburgh natives ought to try this place out. It is an excellent value meal!

Seriously words cannot describe the greatness in every bite :) if you haven't tried it you are missing out

As soon as my friends and I heard about this food cart we were filled with excitement. This has been our longest dream filling up on NYC style Halal Food in Pittsburgh. I am from NYC and grew up with these carts all over the city. The best meal deal for a college student like myself!! Exceptional Quality, Great Service.. Most of my friends agreed that the Platters & Gyros tasted better than the ones we have had in NYC. Honestly I'm craving a platter as I write this review. I will deffinately be a repeat customer.

    Chicken and lamb combo
    Eva R.

Was very excited to try this food cart as Pittsburgh does not have any halal food carts. I had the chicken and lamb combo, which was about $7. I also had the spicy and white sauce put on. The guy was nice and gave us each a falafel while we waited for our food. The chicken and lamb combo was good, but nothing out of this world. I was hoping for more flavor from either the meat, sauces, or rice, but it tasted pretty lackluster. I also thought the portion could have been more. The box was not really stuffed and I easily finished it in one sitting. I was thinking how a chipotle bowl is around the same price yet much more filling. Overall, nice and quick food option in the Oakland area if looking for Halal food.

I was excited to try this place and went on a Saturday evening. The line was pretty long but the 3 guys working were very apologetic about the wait and were all very friendly. I ordered the combo platter ($7) and made it deluxe (+$2) and the guys working made sure my box was packed with meat. The meats were very tasty and I got a lot of food for the price. I was a bit disappointed by the "deluxe" part of the meal, however, as the extra $2 went towards about 3 fries, a few bites of pita, and 1 piece of falafel. Next time I will probably skip the deluxe, as you get a lot of food already without it. I also recommend asking for a lot of white sauce. The meats are well marinated, but you can also ask for the red sauce if you want a bit more of a kick. Overall, I had a good experience and will likely be back for more halal food!

The staff were very friendly, and all of our food was well packaged. I strongly suggest taking a look at the "Persian Cuisine" section of the menu; in many cases, that section is more interesting than the Turkish grill. In terms of food, things ranged from excellent to pretty good. The hummus was good and nicely textured, but not exceptional. The kashke ve bademjan was excellent, particularly when paired with the nicely toasted flatbread it arrived with. The Mediterranean salad and Tabouli salad were both nicely done, with a nice level of lemon acidity and some shredded cheese on the side. The veggie kebap was fine, but generally flat in flavor: it really needed some of the sides and some hot sauce to fill things out. The red lentil soup was simple with a subtle spicing but ultimately deeply flavorful. The ash reshteh (noodle soup with beans and spinach) was generally good but would have benefited from toppings that would have probably been provided in a dine-in environment. All told, this was a nice little establishment with some excellent Mediterranean and Persian style cuisine. They seem to churn out some high quality food from what seems like a very small kitchen. I could imagine eating in or ordering takeout, but note that the interior space is fairly small with a limited capacity.

Very nice Mediterranean restaurant. I visited this place on the day before Mother's Day, and it was…read moresurprisingly not super packed. It's got a nice location on the central road in Squirrel Hill, but it's a bit hard to find parking. When I got there, I got to try their shish tawouk (chicken kabob), mujadara, salad with feta, and iced mint tea. The tea was pretty alright. Refreshing and a nice mint flavor; I think they might make the blend in house. They also brought out some nice pita before we started the meal. For my main course, I ordered the shish tawouk. You usually get this meal with the rice pilaf, but they were out, so I got to try the mujadara. I'm actually quite glad! The chicken was tender, and the portion was very fair. They served it with a nice tomato sauce, but I also asked for some garlic sauce on the side. The sauces both seem to be homemade, and definitely go well with the chicken. The mujadara was surprisingly delicious. They top the dish with crispy sweet onions. It's a mix of lentils and some other grain. Very good! One thing to mention generally is this place closes quite early, usually around 8 or 8:30 PM, so do keep it in mind. It is also very clearly a family endeavor, with the mom managing most of the tables and the kids always helping out. Very nice place!
