I had to have a hearing test and a VNG screening to evaluate balance issues. The audiologist and Dr who dealt with the balance testing were kind and explained all the procedures. They were so reassuring before the tests. I also appreciated their explanations about the test implications. I recommend this business for testing. After visits to a number of doctors over a period of 6 months and with my vertigo symptoms persisting, I took the recommendation of my vestibular therapist and booked an appointment with Dr. Kasper. I cannot say enough good things about the experience and the practice. The evaluation, with truly state-of-the-art equipment, was thorough and expertly performed by Samantha, a doctoral resident. Both she and Dr. Kasper were able to definitively diagnose my condition and advise me as to the best course of treatment. Craig Kasper took his time with me and took into account that due to my past experiences I have a fear of having my ears touched. Not only did he show tremendous patience with me but was able to help diagnose the reason why I could barely hear anything. With a simple single procedure my hearing is back. He has changed the quality of my life. Iam now confident enough to engage people in conversations any where I go. Where as before I would cringe if someone spoke to me , especially in a crowded room. I had an amazing experience with New York Hearing Doctors. Not only was everyone there unbelievably helpful, but they showed a genuine care for me as a patient. I came in with concerns about hearing damage, and not only were they very quick to give me a hearing test and help me fully understand my condition, but they were also very eager to offer helpful and actionable solutions. I would urge readers to ignore the previous reviews as I had no issue whatsoever with the receptionist or the staff. I found everyone to be very friendly and knowledgeable, and I will not only be going back for hearing screenings in the future, but I will most certainly recommend this group to anyone who is looking for a hearing center that goes the extra mile. I have been to several ENTs in the past who not only did not understand my condition (hyperacusis with acute tinnitus), but they dismissed it without giving further thought. This team again has expressed a high degree of dedication to their patients, not only on a level to figure out solutions for the tasks at hand, but also to ensure that the patient is satisfied and happy with their options going forward (as hearing problems can, as they very frequently have, lead to depression issues). Both Michelle and Craig were receptive to my concerns, and I really appreciated their collaboration in my diagnosis. I was very impressed how Craig came into the room I was in with Michelle, to offer his knowledge on music related hearing loss (seeing as like myself, he too is a former musician). I knew I had hearing loss after years ago having had a hearing aid and tossing it out my car window while driving with the top down because the wind sound through my head was unbearable. So after 30 plus years of working in construction around noise and heavy machines and having my Grandchildren call me "Grandpa What" I decided it was time once again. Prior to my construction career I had a strong music background and a continuing love of the arts. This is a tough combination to overcome.... Not for Dr. Kasper and his staff at NYHD. I was fitted with two aids . I now hear all the sounds that have been absent for years. If that was not enough , on my last visit Doc K. added a second channel for just music. INCREDIBLE !!! Picture being stuck in traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday night after dinner, I turn on the radio , switch to channel two ( as this point ,by my choice, a women's voice speaks to me in Italian informing me of the switch) and it suddenly sounds as if the musicians are in the back seat. This review is for the receptionist. Good for her, right? Well, not so much... I can't speak for the audiologist behind the front desk because I never made it that far. Who he hired for the front desk speaks volumes, though. Anyhoo...down to the details... I called to schedule an appointment and initially spoke to an office assistant who didn't know the answers to all of my questions. She scheduled my appointment, took my information, and let me know that the receptionist would call to answer the questions she couldn't. When the receptionist called she turned out to be an abrasive, lazy, know it all. I had specific questions about my insurance, which she summarily informed me were up to me to figure out. She told me things like "eveyone's insurance is different" as if that was novel information. She also repetitively stated that I'd need a doctor's referral, even after I explained that I have a PPO that allows me to select my own doctors and specialists. Without explaining the why or how of the referral process, save to repeat "everyone needs one" several times, and without meaningfully attempting to help me in any way, I decided to cancel my newly scheduled appointment. Even when I asked her to cancel my appointment, she did nothing to keep my business. She treated me like a misinformed child who was taking up her precious time. Needless to say, her disrespective and overzealous approach lost this business a new patient. BOTTOM LINE: The front desk is truly a barrier to entry. I'm taking my business where both the back AND front office staff appreciate it and me. read more

I met with a very nice audiologist, who seemed competent. However, I found their payment practices to be very strange. Although they accepted my insurance, they wanted an up-front payment for hearing aids covered by my insurance. I was told they would refund me the money when the insurance paid them. So, they were planning to get a payment from both myself AND my insurance company. I don't know if this is fraudulent, but it is definitely unusual. Also, despite the fact that they accepted my insurance, to continue seeing audiologists on a regular basis, they wanted me to sign up for a "plan" that required additional payment. Unless I misunderstood what their audiologist was explaining about their billing, there is something VERY fishy about this company. I am so glad I found a different reputable audiologist who took my insurance and didn't charge me anything. Beware of this place. They have irregular payment requirements. read more

I have had services from New York Hearing Doctors for over three years. Hearing tests and hearing screening proceed comfortably. Appointments proceed on time and the offices are pleasant. The receptionist is friendly and helpful. New York Hearing Doctors gently and kindly introduced me to my first hearing devices, helping me to adjust to this new idea, and taught me how to use them. There have been almost no problems, but the few times something did not seem right, one of the doctors was immediately available. One time the issue was completely resolved over the telephone. The recently new devices were expertly adjusted by Dr Naim, producing optimal hearing in all environments. This was accomplished using apparently state of the art techniques for evaluating the output of the devices as it relates to the auditory experience of the client. During my visits, all the time necessary to provide the best hearing status was allotted. Patience is combined with expertise and professional detail. My work requires precise auditory evaluation, and so I am especially grateful for successful assistance in hearing well. read more

I was told that a report would be emailed to me in 24 hours but instead it took three days ... and ONLY after I followed up with them with a call. Also, keep in mind that Mr. Casper is NOT a medical doctor. He refers to himself as Dr. Casper because he holds a Doctorate in Audiology, which is a graduate degree but is certainly not a medical degree. He is as qualified to provide a medical recommendation as is your college English professor. Although he is not a medical doctor, Mr. Casper calls himself a doctor as a way to boost his credibility. If anyone calls him out on it, he can claim that he has the right to be called a doctor due to his degree. This is deceptive and morally questionable since an audiologist works in the health profession and could easily be mistaken for a medical doctor. Moreover, he calls his business "New York Hearing Doctors". This is blatant misrepresentation since there is not a single medical doctor working in his company. As a way of background, I took a hearing exam at his office as part of an employment application. In the report, he wrote that I should consider further assessment with a medical doctor. This recommendation seemed odd since it was telling me to consider a course of action but did not necessarily prescribe anything. I clarified with Mr. Casper and he told me that he wasn't telling me to do anything but was suggesting that I "think" about obtaining further testing. I explained that the language was very confusing and that it could postpone my employment application since the employer could request the further testing even though I did not need it. I requested that he remove the language from the report since he verbally made the recommendation to me. He stated that he needed to provide that "recommendation" in writing in case something happened in the future and I decided to sue him. I was appalled. This was a clear example of an over-referral, which served no medical or practical purpose other than to provide Mr. Casper with a blanket protection against potential legal issues. After repeated attempts to work with Mr. Casper, I decided to see a different audiologist at a hearing clinic associated with a well-known university. The audiologist at that university made a similar recommendation in person but explained to me that it wasn't necessary in writing. Just to confirm my suspicions, I approached a third audiologist and received the same response. I am of the conclusion that Mr. Casper is full of sh*t and full of himself, which in my opinion, is one in the same. read more

As a musician, I needed to purchase specialized earplugs to protect myself in loud environments where I'd usually perform. The consultation, hearing test, and subsequent fitting were a very pleasant experience. Within a week, I received my earplugs and have been using them for most gigs over the past couple of years I've owned them. Everyone in the office, including Dr. Kasper, was very helpful and let me know all the options (including the very helpful replaceable filters) that were available. I'd recommend their services to any musician who wants to keep their hearing for the long haul! read more

craig kasper is my insurance provider. a "hearing test" in covered but a 'tinnitus consultation" whatever that is for $375 is not! they won't describe what that is! checking with my insurance company. never heard of such garbage! stay away! read more
