This is a favorite spot for us. It's got lots of personality and they stay busy with take-out and dine-in customers. The garlic cheese knots are amazing, and the marinara dipping sauce is just right. The pizzas are good and they have lots to choose from as far as styles of pizza go. Plenty of topping options. We usually share a small Chicago-style and that's plenty for two people who don't eat like teen-agers. It is a local place and we love it for that as the owners are always there and they make sure the quality is superb. read more

Good pizza and a friendly staff. The crust is a little thicker than what I typically consider New York style, but very good. My only complaints were that drinks are served in bottles and there were no dispensers of cheese and red pepper on the tables. A restaurant this nice should really have a soda fountain. When I asked for Parmesan cheese and pepper, they brought it quickly, but it was in little plastic cups. Those are little details but they distracted from the experience. My guess is that there is probably more takeout and delivery business than dine-in. I'd definitely go back though. Won't be ordering any time in the future. Another failed ordered - items wrong (ranch because they were out of Caesar, not including dipping sauce even though I special requested on the order and called to make sure the request was seen, strips of lasagna noddles instead of ravioli). Ashley, the manager was rude and made excuses. Their delivery person was rude when he had to bring back forgotten items. Literally did not stop the car....handled out the widow while still driving. I felt silly stopping at this place in (checks notes) Hartwell, Georgia. My life is such that a week before I was actually in New York. I ate all sorts of things; didn't make it to the top pizzerias but there was definitely some pizza in there. So I figured this place would be adequate at best, but there just wasn't a ton else that was open and in this geographic area. Ordering in advance online was wise; it took a half hour to get there and my pizza was still a few minutes away. There were several other takeout customers, but no one eating in despite the considerable effort which had been put into decorating the space with New York memorabilia. The large pizza here is actually large; barely fit in a fridge. And the slices flopped in the way you'd expect. Getting jalapenos and mushrooms was wise as the spicy flavor contrast excited things, but as I dug in more, a little bit of sour flavor in the crust began to add depth. I meant to eat a slice and leave, but I ate a second while wandering around a tiny downtown. It was a salty pizza, and there's not much besides bread and cheese on the menu, but I can say that if I'd gotten this pizza in New York, I wouldn't have been disappointed with it. read more

An hour wait for a walk-in order. Ordered the stuffed Philly cheesesteak no mushrooms or peppers. Don't order this! No steak! Meatballs. Way entirely too much dough. There was a good 2" of crust around the outside edge and it was a good 2" thick. Nothing between the 2 layers there. Just dough. The rest was ok, not being a Philly cheesesteak. lol The dough is good, I must add, but give me what I ordered. We didn't eat in, so no ambiance. WARNING. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BILL! First, let me say that everything was going great. The waitress was great. The food was average, but we were having a good time. Then the bill came. It was not itemized and didn't have any amount listed. I took it to the cashier who rang up a ridiculous amount. I requested to see the itemization. After running through everything with the cashier, I began to say what is this amount? She then backtracked and said "Oh, I must not have cleared out the last transaction". Then after clearing around $25 off my bill (for what she claimed was a mistake) it came to the correct amount. She even told the waitress, "He's looking at the numbers, so I need to get this right". No apology. Nothing. It didn't even bother her that she tried to overcharge us by so much. They knew we were from out of town and I feel like they tried to take advantage of us. As you can see this wasn't what I assumed it was. Starting off with the customer service it was amazing. Lady was nice and knew what she was doing. Moving onto the location. It's a bit older on the outside but the inside will surprise you. They have television and good interior designs. BUT the food wasn't as good as the service, it took around 15 minutes to get both appetizers and shortly after the pizza. Rating the cheese knots it was bland. I think if it was a different type of cheese used it would taste better. Moving onto the pizza. Pretty greasy pizza, the sauce was not up to par with most pizza places, and the ingredients didn't stay on the pizza if you pick it up to eat it. This is just my opinion, and you can be different. FANTASTIC pizza. Hartwell is a small town, with a handful of options for pizza, but this restaurant would hold its own a big city. The food is authentic... family SOUNDS like they're from NY (?), and I promise, it doesn't taste like a 'chain' pizza place. Sometimes there is a wait--sometimes there's not. Visiting from Texas and so glad to stop at this gem! Service was great the young lady was very sweet, menu has a large selection, and prices are great with portions! Very limited menu. I was told it was because of remodeling. They didn't have any tea. Only soft drinks and bottled water. the house dressing tasted like old grease/oil. I had a medium pizza and had two slices. The only waitress brought me a tiny box to put 6 slices of pizza in. I'll never go back. Worse place. Tied with the Pizza Hut. read more

Tried this place out while visiting my sister - had the vegetarian. Very good - loved the crust.. Plus it was a great value for the price. Oh wow! A NY pizza place in Hartwell!! This is unbelievable. They had a salad bar and pizza bar similar to Pizza Hut's. The salad was mainly iceberg with decent toppings. They had multiple different olive oils to put on also. I used the basil and garlic. It was fresh and tasty! The pizzas were good too. I hade the meat, the covered pie and the apple cinnamon dessert pie. The covered was like a calzone. Very good! The meat had sausage pepperoni and bacon bits. Good too. And the apple cinnamon was a delish sweet treat. They had one waitress and she kept up well since it was just my coworker and i. We missed the Lunch rush by 30 minutes. First off, let's understand that everyone has a pizza they prefer - for whatever reason, good or bad. What I think that New York Pizza offers that other places do not is an excellent crust - it's not doughy and does not have the taste of dough (like most chain pizza in my experience). It's crusty and has the wonderful taste of crusty baked bread, even on the bottom. The other thing they offer is quality meats and it makes all the difference. During covid days, call ahead and pick one up to go. They also deliver, but I enjoy stopping in just for the smell of great pizza cooking. Leftovers? Place your pizza directly onto a baking sheet and put into a 400F oven for 15 minutes. Even leftover, it's better than most freshly delivered! read more

My family and I dined here for dinner tonight and we were pleasantly surprised. We are new to the area and so far haven't been thrilled with the dining options. The stuffed pizza was really good, as was the calzone my daughter ordered. Our younger daughters shared a cheese pizza and ate every last bite, including the crust (this never happens). I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo but did not care for the sauce; this is probably my fault as I am a bit particular about Alfredo, but our waitress was extremely kind and understanding. This dish came with garlic knots which were good and I added a salad. The Italian dressing was so very good.
