The pizza has a thick crust, a little crunch. They will put eggplant on it if you ask. The chicken Alfredo is a must eat, very buttery and 3 pieces of chicken breast served with toasted garlic bread. Yum. All the waitresses are great. The restaurant has Italian motif and music. Greek food is available. Gyros are pretty good. Free Wi-Fi. We had the Dolmas for an appetizer. It was good. The hubby had the Athenian Calzone. It was so pretty it could have been featured in a food magazine. According to the hubby it was as good as it was pretty. I had the Gyro Kabobs Platter. It was delicious...a nice assortment of foods allowing me to have a taste of several items. We were here at 4:30 so it was quiet. There were several take out orders while we were there. It was 84° outside but the air conditioner was in full swing. If you get chilled easily bring a light jacket. This little restaurant is close to our new home so, once we move in, we will definitely be checking it out again. For the last several months, the Red Tomato has been our Thursday lunch spot. Yesterday, this restaurant was removed from our lunch rotation. Why? Not the quality of the food or servers, but the manager! After, admittedly, a stressful incident with a terminated employee, the manager used very inappropriate language in the dining room with customers present. As a former military person, the latrine language is in my vocabulary and might have been appropriate in the kitchen, but my wife was deeply offended. Repeatedly and publicly, using the F-bomb is beneath anyone in a management position. As a former first responder, his continued maligning of the responding LEOs deeply offended me. This place changed hands recently and a lot of changes have improved the Red Tomato. The menu has improved but with favorites like chicken souvlaki and pizzas remaining. The pastas have improved greatly. The st aff is friendly and helpful and the interior seems warmer and more welcoming now. P ast trips have been a disappointment but everything has changed. The spaghetti meat sauce had lumps of hamburger that tasted like pan cooked with no seasoning. The tomato sauce was not tasty at all. Walking in, the restaurant was small and cute. It was inviting once we were inside. My hubs and myself, along with 2 of our boys ages 19 and 11, sat and ordered our drinks. Our waitress was great. She checked in on us before we needed her to but she also gave us our space. If you know... you know. The hubs ordered the Gyro (and said it was one of the best he's had). 11 year old ordered the kids fettuccine Alfredo and finished it all... despite him saying he wasn't hungry when we got there. My 19 year old ordered the meat calzone. THIS kid can eat! He works a full time job and works out at a gym afterwards so when he's hungry...he can eat double of what my hubs eats (and that's a lot). I ordered the Italian Hero. It was so good! Next time we go there we're definitely trying some of the Italian dishes. And I know we'll be back. My hubs said "I think we found a new favorite place to eat at!" Ohhh, by the way, my 19 year old was FULL after eating the meat calzone. That's IMPRESSIVE! We will definitely be back soon. read more

This is a perfectly good Italian restaurant. The food was delicious, ample sized portions. Good service except a bit slow on the night we were here. We had to ask for water a few times before it arrived. It's in a strip mall. Not the best location. Not the best atmosphere, although they have obviously worked hard to make it look Italian on the inside. Their greeter was a hoot. An older lady dressed to the "T"s in an outfit that looked like it was from the 1950's. Granted she looked Italian and was friendly and talkative to fit the part. I felt like I was in her home. While it was a good meal, they missed it for me on the atmosphere. The place didn't pull it together enough to attract me back. If they were in a more inviting location they would have something worth talking about. But, hey, if you like Italian food and are not looking to be impressed by the atmosphere... this is your place. Tried calling 15 times (literally) for over half an hour to place a to go order. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. It is always an issue trying to get them to pick up but it has been getting worse, I don't think they are even trying anymore. It's a shame to because their food is good. FAUX-Eyetalian (NOT Italian cuisine- not even close) Observations: limited parking in a tiny strip mall, campy Italian decor, casual & family friendly, friendly hostess and helpful wait staff, overall clean appearance, basic wine list, basic salads and appetizers, NOT Italian cuisine - canned red sauce and soggy pasta, apathetic management and lazy kitchen staff that take no pride in what they create. The first time I tried this place we had philly cheese steak subs for lunch. The bread was a stale plain white hoagie roll, lukewarm freezer burned meat that was as dry as beef jerky, topped with charred onions, peppers and greasy cheese. Terrible! But anyplace can have a bad day so I returned two months later for dinner only to be disappointed even more. I ordered a glass of wine, house salad and the "Eggplant Parmesan". What I was served was a disaster that would embarrass any legitimate cook or chef. I received 4 thin lukewarm mushy slices of eggplant covered in mozzarella on a mound of soggy tasteless spaghetti. (See the photos). No breading on the Eggplant. No Parmesan. What I was served was not Eggplant Parmesan, rather a lazy bastardization of the name and false advertising. The waitress and hostess were apologetic and offered to get me something else but I chose to choke down some of the pasta after eating my decent salad. Those two ladies are the ONLY reason I am leaving 2 stars because the entree quality here is consistently poor. If all you're looking for is a basic salad, glass of wine and decent service you might be safe. If you expect more than a chef-boy-r d meal, you'll want to go somewhere else. read more
