I rarely order food from a restaurant without doing some research first, but this time I was in a hurry and my kids were craving pizza. I also remembered I had a $5 birthday coupon on Toast, and the place was conveniently located on my way home, so I ordered a large Mexico Combo without checking any reviews. When I arrived, the map showed that I had reached the destination, but I couldn't find the restaurant anywhere. After driving around the block one more time, I finally discovered that the pizza shop was actually operating inside a liquor store. The moment I walked in, I had a bad feeling. The overall cleanliness and hygiene standards seemed questionable. I honestly wanted to cancel my order right then, but since I had already paid, I decided to wait for my pizza. Unfortunately, my concerns turned out to be justified. The pizza was not good at all. Even my kids, who usually love pizza, each ate only one slice. To make matters worse, my son found a mosquito on top of his slice. At that point, we decided not to risk eating anything else and threw away more than half of the pizza. Lesson learned: always check reviews and do some research before ordering food, and don't let a coupon convince you to try a place you wouldn't otherwise consider. read more

The worst experience at a pizza place EVER! The person answering the phone had a thick accent and I thought they were going to screw up my order, and they did. I ordered half pineapple and half mushroom. They put all the toppings on one side. I asked for a salad with ranch, they only brought ranch. The driver called from the street asking me to come down and get it, but someone from the pizza joint left a coupon on my door so they know how to get it. Forgot my salad. And the pizza tasted bad. A st New York pizza has been putting it down since I was 19 yrs old, lol. 21 years later and they are still putting it down. The original New York Pizza aside from NY! I know I know, some will argue and say Tennyson New York pizza was the original but to me these guys are the original bc they have the best tasting toppings and they've been consistent for decades. You get what you pay for no doubt. While everyone else is being cheap with their toppings super skimpy, This place gives you exactly what you ask for. I drove literally an hour from the South Bay just to pick up a pizza from Hayward. Shame on the rest of you pizza parlors! None of you guys are even competing with these guys. Even funnier, they're under new ownership. Paul's family sold it, but guess what? The new owners didn't change a thing. The pizza is still amazing. Especially their ground beef and beef pepperoni. My fiance and I are Muslim, I don't eat pork, so this place has everything beef, which is so nice since everyone else always has pork. I have a tip for you. The phone number appears to be 510-5 82-3333. The one on the wall on the side of the building does not answer. You can order pizza by the slice and they have a veggie pizza for $5.99. Basically, they make it fresh. So, order ahead of time even for a slice. Then go over to the dollar store. Grab a 16 fluid ounce Coca-Cola including 0 cal for $1.25. Put in for a super lotto quick pick because you just saved yourself over a dollar in soda price at the liquor store. The crust was exceptional. I'd come here again. It's a shame that the outdoor seating in the back is not used for café seating as a restaurant. We could use an outdoor seating spot like this as a restaurant café with this good parking. All these new developments happening and this outdoor seating café is underutilized as a liquor store and a pizza place in the back. No seating all pick up and delivery. Hayward city, see if you can talk him into making this a café. Offer them a great deal on grants for upgrading this brick building into something that's more earthquake. Friendly if that's the problem. It's a great addition to the urban scene downtown. Lots of potential! Higher return than the little café at the library. 1st time at this location, I grew up eating at the Tennyson location. Not sure if they're the same owners. Here's a breakdown of my review. Location: The are on a Main Street (A St), but they're somewhat hidden and there's lots of ghetto people in their parking lot. Ambiance: It's inside a liquor store. So this is NOT A SIT DOWN spot. Service: They were nice and were quick. Food: We ordered a XL Pizza (BBQ Chicken & Pepperoni) & an order of buffalo wings (10 pieces). The wing were cooked good and I liked the flavor, however they had a unclean taste. Like they're fresh wings not washed or cleaned properly before cooking. The pizza was just alright. Nothing to rave about in a good or bad way, it was just...meh. I will say, they were generous with the ingredients, because at other places they're skimpy with the toppings. read more

I order a pizza from them all the time. There customers service is very bad. The clerk will be on the phone all the time and makes you wait unnecessarily long. Then the quality of the food isn't that good. We usually get sausage, basil, and spinach. The quality of their sausage and vegetables were terrible. This is excellent pizza for when you need it delivered. I recently wanted to order some pizza for a few friends but did not want to order from a chain. I ordered a 20-inch "party size" pizza with sausage, pepperoni, and sun-dried tomatoes online via Yelp. The pizza itself was very good--the sauce and crust were awesome. The delivery came on time and the pizza was hot. Price was a good value; when you order via yelp the charge is around 2 bucks btw. As a funny side note, the box was huge (because the pizza was over 20 inches across) and luckily I had it because I couldn't find an umbrella on a recent rainy day; well, the box was a great shelter lol. I'm almost tempted to order the larger 'King Kong' size pizza just to see what type of box that is--luckily, I have wide doors. I try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt even when rated so low but this business makes sense why they have such bad reviews. If you want longer wait times than given, greasy wings, a chicken ceaser with more croutons than chicken, and a half and half that looks more like a 60/40 pizza than this is your place! And to top it off, the manager, Mr. Singh has the worst customer service ever. We were quoted 45 minutes to an hour. As time passed, being that it was a Friday, we gave them some time before I called in to inquire. It seemed as if they couldn't find my order and then suddenly the worker stated the driver was on the way. 20 minutes later we finally receive our order. We pay and then come to realize how horrible the order is. We ordered a half Hawaiian half combo and it was definitely more Hawaiian, not a 50/50 as we requested. Also the peppers and cheese seemed to have been thrown in the pizza box and spilled all over. The chicken ceaser, which is hard to mess up had more croutons than chicken. The wings, sat in a pool of oil and were very bland for being barbecue. When we called in to speak to a manager we were place on hold twice and finally spoke with Mr. Singh. I explained the situation and I felt a refund for a horrible order and a long wait time with no communication from the business was more than called for. Well after arguing with Mr. Singh, he stated if we wanted a refund he would do so but he would instruct the driver to come back and pick up the order. This is where I lost it ... As a business if you make a mistake, your job is to correct the situation not to aggravate the customer even more. So not only did we get a horrible order but we were threatened in having the food taken. TRUST ME, NEVER ORDER FROM THIS BUISNESS!!! UPS sent me my package here, so I came to pick it up and decided to order pizza since, I'm here. Well the pizza was super overly cooked. As u can see in the pic. Soo over cooked the sauce was dry and the crust super crunchy and rough. The cheese was like one piece. You know cheese usually stretches when u bite into it? This one didn't! No. He proceeded to argue with us about it and make a big deal about it. He would rather take the loss of these two pizzas to be wasted than any money whatsoever. All this over $10. I don't get all the negative reviews. This place is our default pizza place, which means we order here quite a bit. We've never had a problem. They are always on time or early and they have yet to mess up an order. The pizza itself is fantastic. I really like my "new england" pizza and this is the closest out here I"ve seen in the bay area. The salads are pretty solid as well. I would not recommend actually eating there though- this is more of a pickup or delivery place than an eat in one. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star, but apparently I have to give them something in order to save people and keep them from going there...lol. First of all, they are a liquor store...so do I really need to even say more? I mean, c'mon a pizzeria in a liquor store is just a recipe for disaster. They have been voted number one on numerous occasions and I have yet to figure out which drunk person was bribed to say that. Between you and me (and the entire internet), I believe that one of their very large extended family members has some pull at the local newspaper. I have found out some very horrible things about what goes on behind the pizza counter things such as saliva and other bodily fluids getting mixed into the sauce. Ok, so I can say all of this because I live right around the corner from them and used to buy my smokes there (and I dated one of the employees....shhh...).
