It's not a bad campground for one overnight. There's no dogpark, but it has a big open area that was close to our site. We let our two little ones run around for a bit there and didn't disturb anyone. The wifi signal doesn't reach very far from the office area, so we were without wifi for the night and AM. (First world problem, I know.) Just irks me that they would advertise having wifi, when in reality, they don't. read more

Beautiful place, big sites, quiet, pool very clean and warm, office people very helpful. Newberry golf course near by is phenomenal.

We just got home from a 6 day stay here! We had site 37 and had a little corner all to ourself it was wonderful. Showers are so nice. If you've camped before you know how some campground are. These are individual stalls that shut and lock with hot hot water. The pool was warm and cleaned daily. The store was big and we got a huge thing of firewood that lasted us more than the 6 days. The staff was nice and helpful. Always driving around. It rained hard one night and they were out the next day trying to make the road leveled again. The park is a little outdated, but the kids still enjoyed it. The bathrooms could use an update and would be nice if they had one in the back, but we were fine. read more

Make sure you get on Newberry Campground site on Google and read ALL reviews. This campground IS being ran into the ground. I talked to KOA as I was disturbed I had to call police on a man claiming to be a co owner. Newberry Campground couldn't keep up with KOA standards. This campground represents their property as being as good as a KOA. These owners think that problems work themselves out while they sit around and collect money. ( Im not sure how many owners there are... because everyone working there "claims" to be a co owner!) We were asked to change spots on day 5 and it was not a problem. However, I believe these co owners either gave us the wrong spot number to move to.... or rented our 2nd spot and forgot we paid for it. Yes, after waiting well after check out time for the 2nd spot...I went to speak to a woman inside the office. While the discussion was heated, mostly because they didn't have problem solving skills...nobody used profanity...a total fabrication of the facts. This woman who identified as a co owner seemed to think raising her voice at me, after I asked for a refund for a camping spot Im not able to use... was okay but my raising my voice back was "scaring her children". I informed her I'd contact my credit card and take it up with them and that we were leaving. We waited an hour and a half in total past check out for our paid for spot. I went to take a photo of our occupied spot to show our credit card...only to hear a man screaming and dropping "F" bombs where my husband was waiting at the dump station. As I'm walking back to see what the fuss was...I see this man threatening my husband so much so I called 911. The 911 operator knew this campground and knew the man I described to her. (They didn't ask for an addess nor the owners name!) I did yell at this man to get away from my husband ... that I was on the phone to 911 and police were coming. He immediately left and to the credit of the 911 operator ...she stayed on the phone until we left safely so we didn't file a report. This man has an anger management problem that the police are well aware of. If your campground guests call the police on you...bottom line...you need a new job! read more

Nice campground, looks like they are working everyday on updates. Nice that the water was hot in the showers. Everyone was enjoying the heated pool. Didn't try the wifi as I had enough cell service to use my phone as a hotspot. I did notice that the two porta Johns were cleaned everyday but wish they had actual restrooms near the back of the camp ground. I would come here again and suggest it to friends. read more

Came to the UP from Pgh Pa. Great camping! We had a blast. We were there for 5 nights over the holiday. Campsites, bathrooms, showers, pool, camp store were all in excellent condition - very clean! The owners and staff- family run were nice and helpful. I honestly cannot find a negative thing to say. The central location was perfect! We were about an hour from every sight we wanted to see. Very nice little campground. Heated pool was amazing. It was actually heated really well and very clean. Bathrooms could definitely use some updating. And even an additional bathroom towards back of campground would be great. Staff was amazingly friendly. Little store that they have has everything you need in a pinch. Let me just say this place was stellar. I worked at a summer camp in Michigan over the summer in 2016 and we went here twice throughout the summer. The service was great! They have a pool, showers, mini golf, a store and a great campsite. The owner and her family are really nice. We went over to their mobile home and played with the puppies and talked with them for a while. They really know how to provide excellent customer service. I really enjoyed staying here. I'm from Michigan originally and just came back from California for the summer. It was worth it! They also kept everything around the camp grounds very neat. When we went out during the day I always looked forward to coming back here by the evening because I really enjoyed the campsite. I spent a lot of time roaming around the campground with a few of my teen campers. I was sad to leave but it was a great time here. read more

What an excellent campground. Check in was quick and easy. The camp store has a surprisingly good selection of items! The kids took advantage of the arcade/game room, and our family walked down for their ice cream each night we were there. They have mini golf that is FREE if you are staying there! The kids loved that. The pool was OUTSTANDING. It was clean and big, and HEATED!! Warm and wonderful! The sites we had were large and easy to get in/out of, well kept, shaded, and easy hook-ups. The bathrooms are clean, the showers are nice and again, WARM water. I used the laundry room while we were there, and that was big and clean. $10 for 4 FULL loads of laundry. The hubs used their honeypot service--$15 and they handle it, we were in the pool at the time! Awesome. The location is great too. From our base there we went to Tahquamenon Falls, Grand Marais, Trout Lake, Paradise, Curtis, Whitefish Point, just everywhere. The place AND the owner are awesome. Give them a try and you will be hooked, just save me a spot because we are coming back!! read more

This is a busy little KOA. We chose it as a base to visit Tahquamenon Falls, Soo Locks, Pictured Rocks, Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and Kitch Iti Kipi. Sites are dirt with lots of trees. There are 8 sites with sewer hookups but most are in full sun and we were having trouble with the back AC cooling the kids room. So we opted to move to the shadier spots with no sewer. Honey wagon comes to dump your tanks if you need it for $10. Pool looks brand new, fun putt-putt course, horseshoes, clean bathrooms, laundry room old but decent, store looked a little bare. Mary in the office is super friendly and her customer service is a 10. I would definitely stay here again. read more

The Newberry campground, in Newberry Mi was the BEST Campground we have ever stayed at! The grounds are absolutely breathtaking BEAUTIFUL, so peaceful and serene. We have camped all over Michigan and throughout the U.S. The lot sizes were very spacious, and clean. We DID Not want to leave, and extended our stay 3 days longer.The sites were amazing! This was a great spot to stay for visiting a lot of the local attractions. The pool was clean and all of the camper hookups worked as expected. The only downside is that they make you buy their wood and it was still wet so getting a fire going was difficult. Besides that we had a great stay. If we were visiting again we would probably pick a place closer to Lake Superior. Possibly woodland park campground in Grand Marais. read more

While the park has well spaced sites and is quiet it's WiFi appears to be almost non existent. Password did not connect on numerous tries over 3 days. Prepare to not have access. Other than that, conveniently located. If u can get by without WiFi, enjoy. read more

Great location for day trips to Paradise, Whitefish Point, Grand Marais. Nice shady and quiet lots. There is a pool but we were not really interested. But if you had kids with you they would certainly have fun. My one complaint is that we like to watch movies before bed using a Roku setup and the internet never worked. We bring dvds as a back up. read more

I would absolutely never stay here again. positively the worst camping experience i have ever had. Nevermind the basic lack of hygiene surrounding the entire place, the amenities that were advertised severely lack quality in person, top all of that with a incompetent staff. The grounds were cute, but the staff were creepy and seemed perverted, the mini golf course was a joke, pool was close, there weren't any lakes to swim in like the website alluded to. The lady at the front desk tried to fight us about getting a refund. The two men, that I assumed were ground keepers, kept creepily checking my best friend and I out and made us uncomfortable and nervous that something bad would potentially happen to us if we stayed. It was twice as expensive as any of the other camp grounds in the area and had poorer quality for the price. The bathroom stalls had no locks that actually worked and was a communal bathroom which made us, two 20 year old girls, feel unsafe. Would not recommend to anyone wanting to visit Newberry. Not worth it. I rate it one star because I can't rate it zero stars. read more

No longer a KOA (might be a blessing). We stayed the last week of July 2017. They have made quite a few improvements over the last couple years and are continuing with more. The pool was like bathwater (they heat with woodburning broiler). The showers, bathrooms, and laundry facilities were updated and clean. The property was kept clean. Mosquitoes were minimal. Location was great for going to multiple places in a span of a few days including Pictured Rocks, Taquamanon Falls, the Soo, and Griswold Bear Ranch. Owner was very helpful with information. We are hoping to come back next year!! read more
