I have a couple friends that have been regulars at NewCov crossfit for a while. Seeing their FB posts about the workouts and the community, combined with finding a Groupon for NewCov led me down the path of wanting to attempt crossfit. What I was expecting and what I experienced are two different things? I was expecting a lot of very intense, super fit, intimidating athletes, the meet a certain stereotype associated with crossfit. What I experienced as a wide variety of fitness levels in a supportive community simply working hard to improve their health and overall fitness. The instructors for both the beginner and regular classes are excellent. I go to the 6 a.m. class, which works well with my schedule and is also a smaller size class, so you get a lot of great instruction from the coaches, and get to know the other class attendees. Don't get me wrong, the workouts are still intense, but awesome. You can scale them (with the help of the coaches) to align with your fitness level. Overall, I am definitely impressed with the community, coaches and workout, and I will continue to go to NewCov after my groupon expires. read more

I needed to stop and take a minute to acknowledge the fact I found the way I can have my cake and eat it too. The entire thing.... Maybe in one sitting. Upon searching for a new way to challenging myself physically I set out on a mission to find a personal training experience with better pricing. I sought after a great way to build strength and cardio simultaneously. Most boot camp classes I found have limited strength building options but plenty of cardio. I ran into the wonderful owner of NewCov Crossfit and she recommend giving Crossfit a chance. Crossfit has the ability to make you into the strongest version of yourself. NewCov Crossfit is in a perfect location, 5-10 minutes from downtown and 71 & 75, in Newport, KY. They have classes scheduled at all times of the day and the gym has been recently renovated. The instructors are very personable and they teach a thorough 6 weeklong beginner course for individuals new to Crossfit. I started at NewCov five months ago with a plan of only doing personal training. Like many people, I was intimidated by the idea of Crossfit. I thought it was only for the young and the super fit. Not so. All age ranges, all fitness levels, all extremely nice and welcoming. After observing how not scary the group classes are, I've also begun attending some of those. And I love them. Something that I think is really special about this place is the care and attention the owner, Emily Wagner, and staff give to each of their members. Newbies especially. I was introduced to NewCov Crossfit with their "New You Challenge". Having always worked out on my own at home, I was a bit nervous at first. The owner and coaches are very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They are also very careful to make sure the various moves are being done correctly. The other members made me feel comfortable and encouraged me along the way. The box is large enough to hold multiple classes simultaneously. They even offer babysitting for those who need it. I recently joined this gym with encouragement from a friend who is also a coach there. I was pretty apprehensive about rolling off of my couch and into a Crossfit "box", but I knew I needed a change. What I've found is priceless. This community is amazing, supportive, kind, & a ton of fun. There's always plenty of parking, too! And free babysitting, which is a huge sell for me. I love that the workouts are different every day. Lots of variety. I appreciate the coaches taking their time to make sure my form is good or to help me modify workouts when I need to. I was introduced to NewCov Crossfit with an amazing introductory holiday special (3 months: $135) and signed on at the end because how amazing the coaching staff and fellow members are!!! In the short 3 months that I have been a member I have noticed tremendous improvements in my overall health and fitness abilities! Traveling on business and stopped in at Newcov Crossfit. Unlike many of the boxes I have dropped in on they had showers and towels which I am sure the folks on my flight that evening appreciated very much. It was a huge space with all of the equipment and gear you would expect and the late afternoon class had some great athletes. From the warm up to the cool down the coach was leading the class and keeping a watchful eye on our technique, form and pushing us all along the way. I accidentally stumbled upon a Groupon that led me to this gym not even knowing what crossfit was...my first day I was intimidated and thought oh no what have you got yourself into! I kept going...and I'm so glad I did! The trainers are amazing, the member inspiring and the workouts are awesome! I can do things my whole life I swore I'd never be able to do and my strength has increased beyond what I ever could have dreamed! I never worked out a day in my life. Some friends of my had done crossfit for awhile and I saw how much they enjoyed it. So I decided to give it a try for 3 months. I am so happy I did!! I love it!! All the coaches are amazing they have helped me in so many ways, things I never thought I could do I can do now. I love that the work outs are different and they help me modify if I need to. I joined NewCov as an attempt to switch up my workout routine. Prior to joining I ran and/or took a yoga class 5 or 6 days a week. I had been doing that for a couple of years and it was starting to get stale. NewCov has been great in that you never do the same workout twice (so far anyway), the coaches are great. and the class times and location are convenient. Though I'm starting to miss my daily running routes and the release I get from a good yoga class, I can't imagine my self not including Crossfit into my routine. read more

I have been doing CrossFit on and off for years. So to me, finding the right box is absolutely key. What makes a box special is the programming, coaching, atmosphere and members. Without a doubt an all around great gym. I came in not really knowing what to expect from a crossfit gym and I quickly became hooked. The trainers and other members are all friendly and helpful. The overall energy and vibe really promotes a competitive team environment to keep you motivated. You can always expect a good workout, tailored to your skill level and it is nice having both classes and open gyms throughout the day to fit a busy schedule. Highly recommend. read more

I joined NewCov about 6 months ago and haven't looked back since! I've been doing crossfit for a little over 2 years but a relocation meant I was finding a new gym. The community is everything you expect out of a crossfit box. The programming will push you further and develop you as an athlete more than you ever expected. A coworker and member invited me to a Saturday event. I loved it! The workout was tough and thorough but the program was so interesting and fun to do that I just wanted to keep pushing myself. I was impressed at how friendly the staff was and how engaged they made me feel. Also, the comradery between the members was far and above any other gym or sports team I've been part of. Nice big, spacious gym with plenty of classes to accommodate any schedule. You're unlikely to be the biggest hulk in here, but you're probably not going to be the most out of shape either. Lots of good people of all shapes/sizes and everyone is welcome. Not for the faint of heart... though every workout can be scaled to your fitness level, they're all challenging. The best Crossfit gym in the Cincinnati area! From the trainers, to the community, I haven't found a more inviting, more fulfilling or more challenging box around!
