We found Newfound Sushi on Yelp, so we expected something decent, but this Atlantic Canada Izakaya / MI'Kmaq style restaurant is world class. Located by the ocean we tasted torched local Mackerel and spicy salmon with dressings to perfection. Try Newfound House Roll, and one of the many craft brews available. Not a bad place but our stir fry portion was small and expensive. We don't eat Sushi but have heard it is really good.

Awesome staff that's passionate about their sushi and offerings. I had a cod slider to start which was incredible. Soft, buttery and with a great chopped cabbage topping. They had bluefin tuna when I was there (locally caught) and everyone was excited to serve it. Well worth the extra. After reading an article about the best restaurants in Canada, Newfound Sushi was rated one of the best... so, I figured if I returned to Corner Brook, I had to try this place...as it turned out, my spouse and I were bringing some friends to Newfoundland for the first time and we decided to start the trip in Corner Brook...it also was fortunate that there was family here...so I asked a niece to book ourselves to see if this place was worth the ratings...well, the food was extremely delicious and, even though some of the relatives had never tried sushi, everyone enjoyed their meal...from the appetizers to the main course, it was so good...if you get to Corner Brook, please book a night and be prepared to have some great delicious sushi. read more

This place is an absolutely amazing sushi joint. Ordered the Newfound House roll, East meets west roll, and the ramen of the day (pork belly ramen). It's the freshest sushi I've ever eaten; and I've eaten a LOT of sushi. All over North America (Los Angeles, Toronto, New York, Charlottetown). This is by far, hands-down, the freshest sushi I've ever eaten in my entire life. The flavours are rich and complex, and all the ingredients are fresh. The food takes a little longer than average, but everything is made fresh, to-order. So if you come here, put aside at least 90 minutes. Other than that, amazing experience. We thought that being in Corner Brook, Newfoundland would mean grim dining. Au contraire. Newfound Sushi is a remarkable find. The lobster roll is phenomenal. We also had tempura shrimp roll, spicy salmon roll, spinach salad, and seaweed salad -- all excellent. The best restaurant in Western NL, in my opinion. Sushi is unbelievably fresh. There is a Newfoundland spin on some menu items (cod tempura is crumbly but delicious!) Everything I have had there is incredibly delicious. If you have never tried sushi, this is the place to try. Newfound Sushi met all my standards for a sushi place, plus, they had great service. I can't say enough good about this restaurant. My husband and I are frequent diners, we bring in everyone that comes in from out of town with the promise that it will be some of the best sushi they've ever eaten - and every single person has agreed. The quality never wavers, the staff are fantastic, the Izakaya restaurant upstairs is beautiful (make reservations though!), and there's something on the menu for even the most hesitant of diners. Stir-fry's, fully cooked rolls, tempura cod... And for the more experienced, nigiri, specialty/fusion rolls, dory loads, and so on. Personal favorites include the tuna tataki, the tuna tartar, the spicy broccoli roll, the east meets west roll, the blomidon roll, the ramen, and the spicy bao buns. Honestly, the food is so delicious that even when visiting bigger centres (Halifax, Toronto, etc.) we never go out of our way for a sushi restaurant as we know it won't top the quality of this place. read more

Very disappointing. Service was really really slow (over 45 min for some rolls). Waitress ignored us completely and when we asked about progress was dismissive and said she couldn't bring us even a part of our order. They did NOTHING to make the situation better (offer us so etching while we waited etc). Unless you have hours and hours to wait, I'd skip it. read more

Had a nice meal here. The sushi was very fresh and they had some different fish and rolls. We tried a number of different rolls and had miso soup. Would have given 5 stars if the service had been faster. We waited quite a while for the server to even offer drinks and the food took long, there were only 4 tables-but maybe it was the kitchen for the upstairs restaurant which recently opened. Wish there had been a drink menu as it was hard to know which bottles they had as there were so many. Would try the upstairs portion next time as it had beer on tap. read more

Stumbled on Newfound Sushi on the drive through town and was blown away. I've had trouble finding good sushi in Eastern Canada and was so pleased to find this place. Great sushi! Loved the Humber River roll, it was so good I got an extra roll to-go and ate it on the ferry ride home. read more

Admittedly, the food is better than most sushi restaurants I've been to, from St. John's, Halifax, Toronto and NY. A+ in that respect. The service is usually less than satisfying, after maybe a dozen times of going there. Long wait times, inconsistent availability of take-out/pick-up and an argumentative waitress, etc just make them frustrating almost every time I go. I avoid it, but my wife likes the food too much and, it's Western NL so options are limited, hence why I've returned. read more

Came across Newfound Sushi last week and was pleasantly surprised to find such a good sushi restaurant in Corner Brook, Newfoundland where the other food options tend to veer towards pubs and pizza joints. It was our last night in Newfoundland and provided a very fitting ending to what had been a great trip. For one I found the restaurant very pleasant and cozy. The service was great - down to earth friendly but professional and attentive. And most importantly the food was great. All the ingredients were fresh and the roll that we had (Blow Me Down Roll) was delicious and carefully prepared. I had the shrimp tempura box and found all components to be equally tasty and satisfying. Also the dipping sauces were homemade and the wasabi was super fluffy and the most appealing that i've had anywhere. It was quite clear that the owner of this restaurant cares and tries his best to make the experience a positive one for his clients. If I'm ever back in Corner Brook I will certainly pop in and am sad that it's so far. read more

While crossing Newfoundland by car a couple of times, I found it pretty tough to find vegan fare for myself. I was so happy to find this gem of a restaurant - it was like finding an oasis in the desert. The (vegan) sushi was fresh and delicious. At the end of the meal a server suggested that I try half of a deep-fried banana that is then topped off with chocolate and cream for dessert. I assented, minus the chocolate and cream (which visibly blew their minds). After a minute of deliberating, they decided to give me a full banana instead of just the half. How sweet of them. The staff were peppy, attentive and attractive. They looked like they actually cared about how your meal was. Even if they're just pretending, I definitely appreciated it. Anyway, I'd suggest checking this place out in Corner Brook. A little piece of vegan power in the heart of Newfoundland. read more

Ok. So who wudda thunk that I'd come to Corner Brook and have some of the best sushi I have ever had ! I flew in from Halifax to St John's, rented a car and drove to Corner Brook. First thing I did when I got here was look up restaurants and to my delight...newfound sushi appeared at the top of the list. So off I went. Excellent sushi and the perfect stop to make on the way to Port Aux Bascques. They have gluten free soya sauce and numerous gluten free roll options. I had gf spicy tuna and Humber river roll. read more
