Love the food but I ordered a large macaroni and cheese and they forgot it. No problem, but when I go back to get what I paid for she made me wait 15 more minutes when I called my order in. It takes two seconds to scoop it into a cup and hand it to me but she was blatantly rude about it. People are not dumb. Minimum wage is perfect for these type of people. read more

This Newk's location is excellent! Conveniently located in a great shopping center, this location is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. When I go to Newk's I almost ALWAYS order the Half Newk's Q and the Simply Salad. The Q sandwich is a chicken sandwich with melted cheese and white barbeque sauce. The Simply Salad includes dark, leafy greens, cherry tomatoes, cheese and cucumbers. I love the Round Table which includes pickles, peppers, croutons, and various spices. Anything from the Round Table is complimentary. This location offers various drink options but I usually order their delicious and freshly brewed unsweetened tea. Another favorite is the Ahi Tuna Salad as well as the Grilled Shrimp sandwich. Newk's offers a few side dish options like pasta, texas style caviar, chips and fruit. I appreciate this restaurant as a healthy option on my lunch break or before seeing a movie nearby at Regal Theatres. read more

This location is always poorly staffed, especially at night. Tonight I ordered the same salad I order every time I eat here--the Shrimp and Avocado. It is supposed to come with a dozen broiled shrimp.. My salad tonight had practically raw and cold shrimp. In no universe is a broiled shrimp cold and slimy. When I asked the girl cleaning tables about my salad, she literally said "it comes like that". Yeah, it doesn't come like that. read more

I had Newk's for the first time today at their newest location on Sarchel Paige! It was a trial run that I was invited to go to in order to try out the new staff. So a free meal, yay! I am happy to say that this didnt effect my review at all, the food was SO good. I got the chicken pesto sandwich with fresh bell peppers and it was so fresh! It is a good sized sandwich, paired with fruit, was the perfect lunch. The decor is really nice and comfortable. We sat in a booth and it was very comfy. The lighting is nice, lots of windows to look out of. I love the fix your own drink station and that they bring the food to your table, giving you more time to relax and enjoy your meal. The staff was great, excited that it was their first day open. I hope they keep up the hard work, there were so many friendly ladies who came up and checked on us throughout our meal. My only critique? The "sweet" tea was not very sweet. As in at all. I added 3 packets of sugar to each glass I refilled. As did the guest who was with me. I checked a few times to make sure I was pouring from sweet it was so plain. All in all, a great experience! I will be back for another pesto chicken sandwich! read more

Yesterday, Saturday, I took my boyfriend in for his first Newk's experience. I ordered a caesar and the brisket/corn chowder. Sam ordered a cup and a half. The romaine in my salad was not fresh at all. This said, I went to Chris (the awesome manager) and showed him my concern. Without hesitation, Chris asked me what I wanted to replace my salad with. I asked him what he would suggest. I had not one clue how delicious your chicken salad was on the "brown bread." WOW!!!!! THEN...he refunded me the cost of my caesar. Friendly lovely people and a beautiful place! I gave only 3 stars because I ask for well done pizza and it came raw on the bottom!! I have that problem EVERY SINGLE TIME I order a pizza!!! We were fortunate enough to be invited to Newk's pre-opening event tonight (thanks to Yelp!) and got a glimpse of the new digs. It's nice and roomy and bright, and conveniently located in the new shopping center area right off Government and I-65. The food, well, it's the typical Newk's food, and if you aren't familiar with that, it's creative and delicious! I had the pesto chicken sandwich, which is slices of chicken, pesto, bell peppers and goat cheese. That's my usual go-to, paired with lobster and crab bisque. Tonight, lobster and crab bisque wasn't on the limited pre-opening menu, so I opted for the crab and corn chowder. It had excellent flavor, but I think of chowder as being thicker, and this was more like a soup. That wouldn't stop me from ordering it again, as long as it's not lobster and crab bisque day. Newk's features a few different daily soups each day. A few of my other favorite Newk's menu items are the Newk's Q, which is chicken with applewood smoked bacon and white BBQ sauce, the pizzas, and believe it or not, the black and blue salad and shrimp and avocado salad. I normally don't do salads, so that's saying a lot. Their salads are huge and they aren't skimpy with the meat, seafood, avocados, blue cheese - you know, the good stuff. There's something on the menu to appease every palate. The chicken salad and pimento cheese are fantastic as well, and those are also sold on the grab-and-go, along with a variety of soups. Don't forget to check out the roundtable, more specifically, the bread and butter pickles! The best thing at Newk's, and possibly anywhere, is the strawberry cake! It's moist and flavorful and made with real strawberries. I can assure you, it's worth every calorie! The service tonight was excellent. I wasn't the least bit surprised by this as I had the opportunity to meet the Newk's team the other night when I went by to take pictures and set up the business in Yelp. I met a great group of employees who were excited to be there and eager to serve. I love seeing employees enthusiastic about their jobs, and that describes the Newk's employees to a tee! Newk's has been one of my family's favorite go-to spots for several years, and I'm thrilled to see them expanding more in this area. Just go check them out - you can thank me later! read more

Went to the free event for dinner tonight and brought along my ten year old niece. The wait staff and kitchen staff did a great job on their practice run. We were greeted with cheerful, informative employees who were eager to share what they had learned as new employees. The limited and complimentary menu offered a wide variety of options for all palates. I choose the arugula, shrimp and avocado salad and my niece had the grilled chicken Cobb salad. The cashier was happy to fulfill special requests for my niece. The dining room was clean and inviting. The restroom was also up to snuff (that matters). Food arrived surprisingly quick considering this was a practice night AND a full house of "free eaters"! We were checked on several times by eager servers/busers. It is quite obvious that management has done a great job with preopening training. We will return. read more

Came for the pre- opening staff training night. Limited menu, but both our sandwiches were very much to our liking. Tried the Tippah County caviar and I will definitely be back for more of that! Love love love Newks! And especially love this location in Mobile. The staff is always friendly, the restaurant always clean and the food is Delish. My favorite sandwich for sure is the Chicken Pesto, with fresh cut slices of chicken (not like the typical deli chicken served at most sandwich shops). The ingredients are fresh as well, no old or wilting veggies. Even presentation of the food is great! The cakes here are also to die for, having tried the strawberry, chocolate and coconut. All sooo good. Great spot here in Mobile, originally from Houston and here on military orders, and so very excited to know they recently built one there too! The pizzas are also great here as well! A little bit of everything for everybody! Even during a lunch rush, the cashiers are very quick and the wait time is not bad at all! Always have smiles on their faces. I absolutely love this place! I always get the Newk's Favorite Salad when I come here and the staff is excellent. I especially love seeing Skyler when I come. He makes my day when I see him! I ordered a Prosciutto Arugula Pizza (Ordered extra Prosciutto and Mozzarella) that was being advertised. I've been to Newk's a few times and really want to like it more but it's just ok. The salads are on the boring side. The lobster bisque is decent. The kid's pizzas are pretty small for the price. They were both still hungry after. It would be fine for a toddler, but not an older kid. The staff is friendly, and they had multiple registers open, so the crowd moved through easily. It did take a while to receive our food, but they were pretty busy. The restaurant is clean and in a good location for shopping. I had not had the best day ever when we decided to stop at Newk's after our Costco trip. I ordered the half sandwich and soup. 5 or so minutes later they came to our table to tell me they were out of my soup choice, not happy, but order another soup. Arrives in 5 more minutes or so and the shrimp poboy is a boiled shrimp, weird but ok, I suppose healthier, with cocktail sauce, on a sandwich?! NOT good, manager making rounds comes by and inquires, my face I am sure, tells him I am not happy, I inquire about another sauce we decide to try the remoulade (bingo, a winner!) much improved, offers to pay for my meal, I refuse, then offers us a complimentary piece of pumpkin (actually my choice) cake. The pumpkin cake was GREAT, that cream cheese frosting delicious. The girl helping bus tables, stopped to chat, the young ladies taking our order were very personable all under the manager that really cares about his customers. This man was cleaning tables, running food, doing whatever needed to be done to help his staff and serve his customers. I only failed in getting his name to let corporate they have a winner! read more
