I took an external hard drive in for recovery to Newport County Computers and was told they would check it out and call me with their findings by the end of the day. I never heard back from them. Three days and many phone call attempts later, I drove to their shopfront and was told by an employee that the data wasn't recoverable and the person who worked on it wasn't available. When I tried to ask a question, he curtly responded, "Like I said, I wasn't the one who worked on it." He went on to tell me that my only option was to send it into a lab, which would be extremely expensive. After doing a little research and making a few phone calls, I decided to drive 25 miles to First in Service. The owner, Russ, was extremely honest and helpful. He even called a few minutes before closing on a Friday to say, "It's going to take a few days but it looks like your data is going to be recoverable - I wanted to let you know so you could enjoy your weekend." And just like he said, a few days later, everything was recovered at a very affordable price. read more

All I can say is AWESOME! I had gone to the Apple Store at the Providence Place Mall because my 27" iMac had failed. The Apple Genius I had was super cool and helped to diagnose the issue but then told me that they would be able to check in my computer because it was a late 2012 model. However, he was good enough to send me to the PERFECT place! Besides, they are Authorized Apple-Certified Geniuses themselves. So I was happy. I called and spoke to Jason and Ben and they said absolutely, we can help you. Come on in!  I went down the following day, checked my computer in with Jason and Ben spoke with me to find out exactly what the issue was and what my options were.  So I agreed to have my failed Fusion drive with an SSD hard drive and I left the store and headed home. About an hour later, Ben called and told me my computer was just about done and wanted to know what version of the OS I wanted on it. I agreed on what he suggested and told him I'd pick it up the following day and thanked him. Today, I went back and picked up my iMac and brought it home. It's amazing, it's running BETTER than it was before the old drive failed. It's so quiet and fast!  AND, the price was VERY reasonable. I was so happy to get my computer repaired for a fair price instead of having to buy another one. This was an expensive computer when it was new and the newer (2019) comparable 27" iMacs had the same specs. Soooo, I want to use this thing until it can't be used any longer. If you have ANY Apple/Mac issues I HIGHLY recommend Newport County Computers (NCC). I met a couple of other techs there today when I went to pick up my machine and they were also very nice. I brought my computer in and they were very quick with a solution that was also very affordable.

My PC has been having issues where it suddenly shuts down and the fan blows ridiculously hard as if it was overheating, which it was not, and these shutdowns are never consistent, sometimes taking hours to happen, while other time's taking less than 10 minutes with no indication of what's happening. It does not matter what I do on my PC. I could be browsing the internet, watching videos, playing games, or even doing nothing at all, and it will suddenly shut down. I also know that I do not have a virus on my computer as I have checked multiple times. I brought it in to NCC to see if they could fix it. diagnosis price is always at $25, and they charge an additional $25 depending on if they can fix it with what is on hand or if they need to order special/specific parts in. They told me they'd run a diagnostics check the day after I brought my PC in and get back to me. I brought my PC in on a Thursday, and they're closed on the weekends. I figured they were a little more backed up than they thought, so I waited until Monday. Still no word back from them. Monday was Columbus day, and I didn't know if they were open on holidays, so I called a few times throughout the day, getting sent to voicemail each and every time, so I assumed they were closed. Called back again on Tuesday, they answered, gave them my information and asked if they had started work on my PC yet. They said they would check and call me back within a few minutes to let me know. I called them around 1:00pm that day and they close at 5:00pm everyday. They never called me back. They called back on Wednesday and told me my PC was ready to be picked up at anytime. I went to pick it up a little later that day and they told me that it was working fine and that they had fixed the issues. They never said that it was a virus, just that my hard drive somehow was not installed correctly and that they had deleted some corrupted files. When I got back home, I set it up and turned it on. Not even 20 minutes after doing so, it immediately shut down and the fan started blowing like it was doing before, and it still does so when ever I turn it on. I do think anyone that was there had actually done anything with my computer and just let it sit in their offices without doing any kind of work on it. Weather that's true or not, they clearly did not do what they said they would do, which was that they would do everything they could to either fix my PC, or refer me to someone else that could. I will not be going back to NCC for any future PC issues, and I suggest that you make sure that they did their job, or expect a refund if they claimed to have fixed it when any problems that they said they would fix persist when they give it back to you. read more

Very impressed with this business. I had a computer issue that forced me to seek some outside assistance. After filling out the online contact form, I was immediately contacted by NCC. They asked several questions via email; ultimately, after some research on their part, they advised me that my best bet would be to scrap my computer. As a layman who knows nothing about computers, they could have easily duped me into bringing the computer in, "examining" it, and charge me for un-needed labor costs. They didn't. Any business that conducts itself with this level of integrity and professionalism deserves our support. Can't recommend enough. read more

These guys used to be stellar, they still are in terms of computer help but the owner has been making poor business decisions that make the process of getting help go from within the hour to as much as days. Owner has raised hourly rates without communicating it to clients. Owner played his covid card way beyond reality. Billing is done by wife who can take as much as a month to do and then makes lots of mistakes and getting them corrected takes weeks. I'm looking for a replacement.... read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I was having trouble with my Apple computer. I took it here to Newport County Computers to be checked out. I was told it would cost over $500 to repair. Because i am a student I needed a computer right away therefore I purchased a new Apple computer. out of curiosity i had a friend who is good with computers look at the old computer and to my surprise the only thing wrong with it was it needed a $50 battery. It's working perfectly now. I feel like i was take advantage of, lied to, or the technician at Newport County Computers is incompetent. read more

Took my iPhone to 3 different businesses after upgrading software to enable a new watch went terribly wrong with no success and lost time to boot! These guys fixed the problem in minutes and there was no charge because my watch was under warranty! Awesome and honest!! read more

The crew there spent considerable time on my laptop problem when I lost my memory mapping at a reasonable price. They make the kids at the office stores look like novices.
