I had an appointment this morning for a CT scan and what a nice office. The office staff, technicians and overall quality of care were fantastic. The facility was clean and well maintained. Appointment time was about 4 weeks, but staff was apologetic and my test was not anything urgent.

If your doctor sends you here to take an image, and your paper says, "Pay at the counter (or it won't be covered by insurance)," my advice is to "keep your receipt." I paid at the counter on the day of service, but they still charged me and insisted that I got the service from them... I sent the receipt to customer service as instructed by the phone (as they only receive a copy of the receipt by FAX...), but no one followed up. A month later, I called customer service again, and they sent me to a supervisor. He was friendly and apologetic. He told me he would have his co-worker fix the issue as he would log off soon. Another month later, I received another bill that deducted my original payment from what they had charged me wrongly... I called customer service again, and they said they would investigate. But this time, I didn't let them go, and they connected me the supervisor, Roger, again, and I didn't hang up until he fixed the issue. It was such a nightmare, and too much hustle. I hope they fix this issue immediately as even a supervisor recognized the issue. read more

Totally incompetent. This is the second time in the last three months that I went there for imaging ordered by a doctor. The first time my MD - who is right next door to their office - ordered it stat/urgent. It took over a week with multiple follow up's by me & my MD's office before Newport Imaging finally got it over to them. Second time, a different doctor ordered some x-rays. When I went to get them done, I asked their office if the x-rays would be sent to my doctor in time for my appointment six days later and I was reassured they definitely would be. Not surprisingly, I got to the appointment and my doctor never received them. I called Newport Imaging, who gave a lot of excuses and blamed it on the doctors, which wasn't the case. They finally sent the report over but refused to send the x-rays, and told the doctor's office I needed to pickup a CD, which I was never advised of. Bottom line is that this office is unreliable and unorganized and cause unnecessary delays & aggravation to patients. Plenty of other imaging options in the area and I'd strongly advise going elsewhere. read more

I'm feeling a bit generous with the second star. I had to have a brain MRI here a couple weeks ago. This was my first MRI with contrast. I will say I have never had an issue doing a regular MRI and I have had quite a few. When arriving, there was an urgent care doing covid testing on the other side of the building and the area was packed. At NIC, there was an employee at the door who asked me covid screening questions and took my temp. He then allowed me inside to have a seat and fill out paperwork. They only allowed three people inside the waiting room. I felt comfortable when it was only me inside but then it started to get busy, and a few people had to wait in the hallway. Everyone had masks but one girl behind the desk had hers below her nose. The release forms for the contrast part of the MRI is quiet terrifying and between that and everything else my anxiety started to kick way up. I was taken in the back and asked to change into a gown and scrub pants and leave my clothing in a locker but take my personal belongings. I explained to the tech that I have a very bad lower back and possibly towards the end of my MRI, depending how long it takes I may start to cry, and it's uncontrollable, just small tears falling and I'm ok - not to worry about it. I also had to remove my mask for my MRI. Well, my anxiety got the best of me and the tears started early and not from pain. When it was time for the contrast, I freaked out. She had to do it in my wrist which hurt very bad. She was extremely rude to me, asking what exactly I was scared of and I said having a reaction to the contrast shot. She said well there's a radiologist onsite should something happen. I was having a panic attack and she rudely told me I needed to calm down or she couldn't finish the test. She asked me if I could breathe through my nose and clearly I couldn't. She said I had one minute. Thankfully that triggered me to anger over anxious and I calmed down to finish the test. This woman had zero compassion. I doubt i was the first to cry during an MRI and I was petrified of the contrast. I am so bummed at how she treated me. When I was done, she told me to go get dressed. I had no idea what to do with the clothing they had given me to wear, and I had to track down someone else who took it from me. I will not ever return here and the person who did my procedure needs some training on how to treat people. Being nasty to someone who is genuinely terrified is ridiculous. Curious what's going to happen with billing as that's a huge issue in the reviews. I should have had a $150 copay but I wasn't charged that day. read more

The building does not require masks, but inside this establishment, they are required. This place is affiliated with Hoag along with all the old COVID rules. Only 4 people are allowed to stay inside the lobby/waiting area. So if you come in for your appointment and if you are number 5 +, they banish you to the hallway outside. The doors of the building are wide open, so the hallway is absolutely freezing. On the day I went here, it was pouring down rain and the hallway was absolutely freezing. No other facility here is making people wait inside the hallway except Newport Imaging Center. Approximately 30 minutes after checking in, someone from the imaging center came into the hallway and let me know that there was now a place for me to sit and wait in the actual waiting room. Then, I had to sit an additional 10 minutes before being called for my imaging. I was supposed to have the first appointment after lunch and I was taken 40 minutes late. I was only there for an EKG, which took maybe 10 minutes tops once I was called to the back. I will NEVER return to this facility. I was referred here by my doc for a calcium artery imaging scan. Upon scheduling I was informed that it was a noninsurable, out of pocket $100 fee. At the appt they collected $100. Now I'm being billed 356.00 for the scan. When I called the billing dept (which was a hard number to track down) they absolutely gave me the run around about the charge, initially saying it was for a different date of service. They eventually said- oh when we refresh our system it's a zero balance. They are definitely trying to scam both my insurance and me by billing for additional payments. Yet another medical racket... that all being said, the actual service was fine. Just beware of how they bill. read more

I would avoid this place and go to Hoag. Much more professional. Dr was concerned about my heart and sent me for an EKG "stat" because she thought it was serious enough to get it looked at immediately. 3 days later still no results. If I die suddenly I'm changing it to a one star rating. read more

My husband wanted to get a preventative scan just for peace of mind. We paid $625 on Oct 2 2017, got the results and were told his blood vessels were, "unremarkable", meaning nothing negative found. His heart had some minor calcification on the lower Aorta. No recommended Cardiologist, no thing to do next, no warning of any problems. On August 27th of 2018 my husband had a serious heart attack, one artery was collapsed and the other 80% clogged, after surgery and recovery we mentioned to the Hoag cardiologist about the scan and how we had a false sense of security from the information it provided. The Dr said The Cardiologists at Hoag call those scans "a gimmick and a waist of money, they just don't provide what is needed to diagnose heart problems." This place is a freaking joke. I paid my bill with my HSA card and it was fully processed and cleared. Then I get a FINAL notice in the mail that i haven't paid my balance. I call the billing department wait on hold for half a hour and they told me the only option is faxing in my receipt. First off.. who has a fax machine?! It's 2021. They can't accept a email?! It's a joke. They make it as hard as possible to pay off their bills. It looks like by the reviews I'm not the first one. After all of this I'll probably still get sent to collections.. read more

I broke my shoulder, And after going to Hoag urgent care imagery in Aliso Viejo, I was directed to Newport Imaging because it was less expensive and I was a cash patient. Hoag was charging for $465 to $475 For upper arm x-ray and $675 for an x-ray of the scapula. Add on the radiologist report, which was approximately $200. You're now around $1200! At the time I didn't know that I had a broken shoulder but I drove anyway up to Newport Imaging. The girl at the front desk was so nice and helped me out so much because I could obviously barely move my arm and I was in so much pain that I felt dizzy. Anyway long story short, this place charged me a 1/10 of what Hoag was going to charge me, and I also received a CD and a radiologist report for free! I love this place! They are super nice and very professional! I highly recommend them! read more

I'm surprised by the low rating in this place because they treated me with so much respect, and courtesy. This place was amazing from the very beginning, super easy to find and the parking was great. I was originally suppose to go somewhere else but I decided to change and I am so glad I did. I got my radiology exams here, MRI and MRA and the technician was so nice. Elaine was amazing. She was so nice and when she gave me the injection It didn't even hurt me.(I hate needles/injections but this time I didn't feel anything). The receptionist were so nice and so patient, they helped me with my transition to this new place and even gave my my results in a disk. I didn't know we could get that at all! Amazing ! Love them and definitely will be coming back here whenever I need any test. read more

Good: - It is a partner with Hoag so I didn't have to fill in new patient form there and they could access my reports both ways with Hoag. The report was automatically sent to MyChart account with Hoag. - It costs a lot less then Hoag. E.g., a neck US cost $400+ at Hoag but only $104 here, both after insurance discount. - They use the same radiologist group as Hoag, so the quality should be the same. - Virtually no waiting. - Plenty of free parking, covered or uncovered. - It is on the first floor, so no worries sharing elevators with others during COVID. Bad: - The exam was super fast. I felt they didn't have to rush but maybe they checked everything they should and were just super efficient. read more

Awful experience! First: forms given us to sign contained numerous errors and omissions. Second: they make people who are required to drink Barium Contrast (effectively an enema), to sit in the waiting room half naked in a surgical gown with the other patients, because the place is too small for any privacy! Further, the bathroom has to be shared with other patients for changing clothes! Why don't they just put you out in the hallway or parking lot for an hour? Thirdly: they say over the phone for an appointment that they accept Medicare Assignment; but after being there 1 1/2 hours after 2 MRIs and taking the Contrast, they tell you they don't take Assignment and refuse to provide further service! Most of these places charge 2-3 times what Medicare allows. Is it any wonder the majority of personal bankruptcies are caused by Medical Debts? We would say steer clear of this place for the services to us are more Third World, than upscale Newport Beach! read more

I was in Newport Imaging Center on San Miguel in Newport as my husband was getting an MRI. There is another Newport Imaging center on Superior. They are not the same. Just so you know the MRI it was 1/2 hour long - extremely loud almost unbearable with ear muffs that didn't help and no music . per my husband. Larry who was in charge was nice but he said the machinery was the same at Sam Miguel as it was on superior . Not true . The worst part was the 92 year old man named Harry with a cane who came in for an apt and was hearing impaired who had an apt for a test he had to have done every 6 months and he drives all the way from Fallbrook. He arrived at the wrong facility the Newport Imaging Center at the one on Sam Miguel but unfortunately His apt was at the 520 Superior building. Janet was pleasant but recognized there was a problem as he was at the wrong office. Myra was totally rude , unhelpful or compassionate to the man's needs and offered no help to give him a map to get to the right office telling him there was nothing that could be done. I insisted Myra call the Sam Miguel office to see if they drive over there to see if they would still be able to accommodate him .. she finally agreed to make the call and they agreed they would accommodate him. . If I hadn't been there he would have made that drive for nothing as she just blew him off and offered absolutely nothing to this 92 year old man. He didnt know how to get to the other office - I asked if she would draw a quick map and she refused so I drew an easy map. If you are a senior do not go near this place if Myra is still there she seems to be in charge . I would like to say Janet was helpful. read more

I had a total cervical MRI 11/13/20 . The technician gets an A++++. She was just fabulous, friendly and fast. It was easiest cervical MRI that I have ever had and I have had a lot of them. The doctor that read the MRI, Karence Chan, was not so good. She made a number of significant errors in reading MRI--- a number errors that I caught.!! If neurosurgeons depended on her reading, malpractice suits could follow. But, thanks be to God, the surgeons read the MRI discs themselves to determine the real pathology and what surgery is needed. Otherwise this was an excellent Imaging Center. I just happened to have C- to D doctor reading the results. read more

My 5 year old daughter got a head injury at school and she, her sister and I were super freaked out worrying about her after taking her to her pediatrician, when they sent us here to Newport Imaging for a head X-ray. I give this place 5 stars because of the X-ray technician named Tuan. Tuan was AMAZING! He instantly made my daughter (and us!) feel calm and he had such a great 'bedside manner' with kids. He let myself and my daughter wait in the Xray room with the other Xray tech behind the glass so my little girl could still see me. Then Tuan was with her the entire time making her calm and talking her through the process. Tuan was so nice to us and we were even able to get a CD of my daughter's images. We also got the results very quickly which impressed me! I know for a fact that we wouldn't have had as positive an experience if it wasn't for the terrific Tuan. If you have to go to Newport Imaging (especially if you have a scared young child) I hope you get Tuan since he is wonderful! read more

The service was okay. Front desk didn't have the nicest attitude but the tech was nice and efficient. However, as many have mentioned, the people in the billing department don't know what the heck they are doing. I had an x-ray done ordered by my physician. Weeks later, I received TWO different bills for the same X-ray, done on the same day at the same facility, but one was billed as auto accident. Also, they didn't even bill the right insurance medical group so obviously it was denied. I called to have this fixed. Now three months later I received the bill again, and once again it was billed to the wrong medical group and denied. Seriously? read more

I did not know what to expect since I had not been to this diagnostic center in many years. But I decided to go since it was close to my home. I went for a routine mammogram and was very pleasantly surprised with how helpful and friendly and caring the people there are. From Janet at the reception desk to Linda who did the mammography, they could not have been nicer or warmer. I was in and out very quickly and it was so easy and painless, well practically... But truly they have a wonderful, patient, caring attitude. I left with a smile on my face. What can I say? If you go to a Center and they don't treat you well, you never go back. I think diagnostic centers know this and they try very hard. At least this one did. I will definitely consider Newport imaging Center for other diagnostic procedures now that I know how well run the office and staff are. A thumbs up from me. (And I am a picky senior.) read more

This review is bad because of the billing. I called and asked how much a scan would be and I was told $100 because insurance wouldn't cover it. I went in and asked again and they said $100 and I paid with my credit card. I received a bill for over $350 and questioned it. They said to send an email to ask for an inquiry. I did and had to keep following up once a week. Then I got an email asking if they should close the case. I said no and a lady over the phone offered to lower the bill. I said I already paid the bill. I called again and they said I had no record of paying. Luckily I had a copy of the bill and the credit card receipt and faxed it in. Called a week later and they said they didn't receive it. I then emailed it and today I'm happy to say the automated system said I don't owe anything. There is something very fishy going on with the billing. I would not go there but I'd you do keep your receipt!! read more

I have very bad experience with this company especially the billing department i have a workers comp insurance through my injury but they insist that i owe them money not paid i called their customer service many times trying to explain this is a workers comp case but they kept sending me letters stating that i owe them a balance and least but not last one of their customer service representative hang up the line on me when i tried to explain my problem to him his name is Mathew. It's the same as many others have posted. Terrible billing dept. My husband had x-rays done here many months ago. We got a threatening "FINAL NOTICE" in the mail which was our very first bill. They botched their recording of our insurance info, and rather than try to resolve the issue just sent us the whole bill. Once we cleared up that "little" issue, we got a new "FINAL NOTICE" with the updated, correct, amount owed after they received the insurance payment. What's with making your first contact with the consumer a scary "FINAL NOTICE" with big red numbers and letters?? Pretty shady and misleading. Like others have mentioned, when you call, one of the first options is "If you are a lawyer..." Interesting. They must get a lot of calls from people's lawyers. Anyway, we set up a payment plan once we'd received the correct amount. We were making payments manually for a couple months, then I called in to set up automatic payments. Well, they didn't actually set those up. I didn't notice, with other payments going out for similar amounts for similar medical bills, and a couple months later after *zero* communication from Newport Radiology, I get a collections notice in the mail. Really?? If I was making payments and suddenly stopped, wouldn't you find it worthwhile to contact me directly to get your money faster? I called them and made a stink, they claimed the automatic payments were never set up because they can't set them up over the phone (because their calls are recorded, so they can't accept credit card info over the phone...). I cited an email THAT THEY SENT ME that specifically states, "For your convenience, you may set up automated monthly credit / debit card payment by calling Customer Service at 888-927-8025." The MANAGER that I was speaking with (who I reached by calling the number just listed) seemed completely flummoxed by this ("I'm not too sure why the email says that.") I got the manager to agree to take the issue to some meeting a couple days out to try to get the account pulled back from the collection agency (CMRE). She asked me to call back on a certain day to find out whether a decision had made. Again, really? No, you call me back when a decision has been made. Why should I have to call in to wait on hold just to potentially find out that this issue wasn't even discussed yet? I never did get a call back, but several days later I got an email noting a payment plan had been set up, and requesting monthly payments again as if nothing had happened. Although they didn't ask for it, I paid for the current month plus the two I had missed. Ironically, I just received another email yesterday with a payment reminder, and it has the same language noted above about setting up automatic payments ("For your convenience, you may set up automated monthly credit / debit card payment by calling Customer Service at 888-927-8025"). Also interestingly, my husband got a call from CMRE, the collections agency, trying to encourage him to make the payments to CMRE even though the account was recalled to Newport Radiology. Not sure what that's about, but it sounds sketchy to me. Like either these two companies don't communicate very well (with each other or the consumers), or they're in cahoots on some shady business. In any case, rest assured I'm looking forward to finishing payments on this account very soon (which I will clearly have to do manually since it's seemingly impossible to set up automatic payments) so I can be done with this company once and for all. Also, the website they use for online payments, ezmedinfo, DOES NOT offer an option to set up automatic payments. Just got off the phone with them again, and the CSR was rude and condescending, acting like I don't know how to follow a link in an email they sent me, or follow basic instructions to type in an account number. The link from the email they sent me also redirected to a (related?) site for payments to Newport Harbor Radiology Associates. Left the same review there, since it seems they're the same company. They must be, or I don't know how NHRA was so keen to pull up my NCRA account number and accept payment (except that neither actually was easy to make a payment to, the website is such a joke). read more

My experience at Newport Imaging Center was very positive. The women at the desk were so nice on the phone & in person. The facility was perfectly clean in the lobby, hallway, bathroom, and x-ray room. X-rays are done on a walk-in basis, and I came in around 4:15pm on a Tuesday afternoon. There was literally no wait - as soon as I finished the paperwork (which was only two pages), I was immediately taken back to the x-ray room. I wish I remembered the name of the radiologist who took my x-ray because she was friendly, helpful, efficient, and very professional. I was in & out in about 25 minutes and they gave me a disk with the x-rays to take with me. read more

I was referred to this location because no others had the date and time slot I wanted available. I had no issues with billing, everything was explained to me clearly and taken cared of prior to my appointment. Even though it was farther than I wanted to drive, the experience start to finish was very positive and totally worth it. The ladies at the front desk were good and competent. The tech 'Moses' was absolutely THE BEST. If you have a choice of techs for your imaging, definitely ask for Moses. Not only is he a PRO, he has an incredibly caring and calming presence. I also like that they gave me a cd of my images to take home with very short wait time. Highly Recommend! read more

The Staff was pleasant enough but their billing is very weird. We visit the US every year to get my mom's health check-up and don't have insurance. We just pay upfront. They charged us $150 on the day the x-Ray and that was the full payment. I got a bill yesterday for $210. Called them today and they seemed to know what I was calling about and said they'd fix it. Why the discrepancy in payment? Is this a common practice? To send out bills and then say you'll fix them?! Luckily, I saved all the receipts! Going to tell my naturopath not to recommend them anymore! read more

I had a similar experience as other negative reviewers. I went in for an MRI on my shoulder, gave them my insurance before hand and the confirmed that insurance would pay for my MRI. Went in on the day of my appointment and gave them my insurance again. They confirmed that I would owe $250. Weeks later I got a bill for an additional $500+ dollars. Followed up with them and they said they would resolve it, and just got a second bill for the $500+ dollars. I have a Blue Shield PPO for goodness sakes and have already met my deductible for the year. Totally unethical business, avoid at all costs. Am going to follow up with my Orthopedist who is one of their main referral sources (Kramer & Labovitch) and complain as well. read more

I was here for my very first cervical MRI. I never got a MRI before. The receptionist was very nice. But the technician who was doing the scanning was not friendly. I was nervous and towards the end of MRI, I just couldn't get it over with. Technician did not ask if it was my first time and what to do. I read the negative reviews and I think those people were either a) in the wrong place or b) aren't used to a professional environment. I had a mammogram and an ultrasound of my kidney/bladder and both times I did not wait more than a few minutes. The rooms are extremely clean, the front desk staff is efficient, professional, well dressed and very friendly and nice. The techs were knowledgable and professional. I was very happy with everything and would recommend the Center to anyone. I make very early appointments as I believe they get booked up later in the morning and afternoon. I had to schedule my very first mammogram. I was worried since I have heard from other women how painful it is. Let me also confess that I have breast implants and I was terrified it would make it more painful or worst case scenario- they rupture. Scheduling my appointment was quick and they were able to get me in that same week. I let her know my worries she was very understanding. I showed up for the appointment and they were all so nice. My wait in the waiting room was only 2-3 minutes. The gal who was going to the do actual procedure walked me back into the changing room and advised what I needed to do. She was not rushing me and made me feel very welcome. We walked into the room with the machine and she explained thoroughly what would happen. She made me feel at ease and very comfortable. We even joked around a lot. The procedure itself was NOT painful at all!!! She was so gentle. When there was going to be discomfort she let me know ahead of time. But there was hardly any discomfort. The whole thing took 15 minutes. She even showed me the pictures it took. :) She said I would get results back in one week. I highly recommend this place. It is very clean, parking is covenient, and the staff is great!! All of the ladies are so nice and it's almost like your just hanging out with your "girlfriends". This will definitely be the place I will use every year. read more

I have been to Newport Imaging Center many times over the past 12 years for X-Rays for my kids, Cervical Spine MRIs, etc. They are exceptional. Very kind staff, and outstanding people that actually do the X-Rays or the MRIs. Very gentle and compassionate. I will not be surprised if my review gets sent to the bottom of the pile from Yelp. Unfortunately Yelp has been approaching businesses for money in return for 5 Star reviews, written tailor made for that business. If the business says no to Yelp, Yelp retaliates by digging old bad reviews.... sometimes from 5 years ago and they bury any new good review. I was led by 5 star Yelp reviews to a foot surgeon (ALL 5 stars and glowing reviews) who hacked my foot causing much nerve damage and had to be surgically repaired by another surgeon. I had to have some scary tests done. Maria and Kimberly, my technicians were absolutely awesome. So generous with their time, kindness and patience. They were beyond competent. Kimberly noticed some redundancies in my multiple tests and after consulting with the radiologist, made a custom program which shaved almost 2 hours off of my scanning time. So refreshing to have smart and thoughtful people caring for you during such a stressful time. Thank you ladies. read more
