I had a great experience with Mauricio the owner, who diagnosed and repaired my Rinnai tankless water heater. He is a certified Rinnai Pro. I found him at https://www.rinnai.us/find-pro. He was the closest pro to my area (none of my local companies were listed as Rinnai certified pros). About 6 months ago, my Rinnai 75i natural gas tankless water heater started intermittently not working and beeping a code 11 (with no hot water output). Usually, just restarting it would fix the issue, but sometimes, it would take multiple restarts. I called out a few local companies, all with good reviews. The general consensus was since my heater was now over 10 years old, it was out of warranty, and it was time to replace it. I spent the next few months researching which unit to replace it with (e.g. whether to switch to re-circulating, whether to get one with a larger GPM capacity, what energy efficiency, etc). There were so many choices I ended up delaying, given the issue I was having was intermittent. In the end, I never got around to replacing my unit (to my luck). Flash forward to this week, my unit keep beeping code 11 regardless of how many times I restarted it. I set out to make a final decision on its replacement as now I had a greater sense of urgency. Somehow I landed on a Youtube video which talked about how a dirty burner and other issues are often the source of a code 11. After watching the video, I suspected my unit needed maintenance and didn't necessarily need to be replaced. I talked to Mauricio on the phone and described how the unit would try to fire up 3 times and then start beeping code 11. He was pretty confident he could get it working again. He came out, listened to the unit, and immediately identified the fan as one issue without even opening up the unit (just by how it sounded). This ended up 100% spot on, as when he pulled it out, it had some little fruit fly-type insects that had made their way into the fan and died. He also pulled out the burner and as he pulled it out, debris came out, which the YouTube video had indicated was a common cause of the code 11. He inspected and cleaned all the internal components, as well as did a system flush which is a recommended maintenance to remove the effects of hard water. He diagnosed the burners as the primary culprit due to how much debris had collected in it over time. He put my unit back together and said that overall my unit is in excellent condition (definitely not needing to be replaced at this time). So, for a very small fraction of the cost of replacing the whole tankless unit, Mauricio was able to get my unit up and running again with just a service call, and I was able to avoid sending more trash to a landfill. I highly recommend that if you have any tankless water issues, you let Mauricio take a look at it before you decide to get it replaced. read more

Mauricio was able to come out within an 1 1/2 hours because of scheduling gap. I was not in his immediate area but he came to help anyway. He diagnosed the problem and went to a supplier for the additional parts. He fixed the plumbing issue and his prices were very fair. Each of the those plumbers did not know what they were doing and wanted to charge an expensive consultation fee. I wish I had good things to say about this company and Mauricio but I don't ! About a year ago I contacted this guy for a water heater repair job for a rental property in Encino when he came over he said that the previous plumber did not do a good job that he had to repipe the connections and everything would be ok he charged $350 labor and $80 for parts about 8 months later same problem occurred again when we contacted him he didn't even want to come and see the problem he simply pointed out to the section on the invoice that says " the work is only guaranteed for 30 days" I don't believe anybody would hire a plumber knowing that the work is only guaranteed for 30 days . I have worked with literally thousands of vendors over the past three plus decades and every once in a while come across someone who stands ahead of the rest. Well today I came across that someone and his name is Maurico who owns Newport Plumbing. In a nutshell, I had a problem with my tankless water heater and after speaking with one of his competitors that said it's going to cost $250.00 to look at my unit, after a couple minutes on the phone with Mauricio it was evident no one needed to come by as he was able to troubleshoot my unit and get it back on line rendering a service call unnecessary! He provided this help understanding he was getting nothing in return and although I offered to send a gift cert for him to enjoy lunch on me he would not allow it and just said to let him know when there's anything further he can do for me. I returned from a two-week trip out of the country late at night to discover what I thought was a problem with my tankless water heater. I could not turn on my water main that night. After calling another plumber I frantically searched the OEM (Rinnai) site for the water heater to see if they had 24-hour customer service. The site recommended three local service/repair companies for their brand. Newport/Mauricio was the second call I made the next morning, after the first place said they could not get to me until the next day. Mauricio took my call on driving on his way to another service call and he diagnosed my problem over the phone -- it was not the tankless water heater after all. He sent two of his service men out that same day and they fixed the issue in the bitter cold (during the coldest winter in years in LA) and in waning daylight, basically dark. Just moved into a new place where it has a Rinnai tankless water heater. For days, I could not figure out how to get hot water in the shower; just lukewarm. I'm able to obtain hot water in the bathroom sink. I contacted Rinnai who gave me Newport Plumbing's number. I spoke with Mauricio at Newport Plumbing about the situation. Since I had hot water in the sink, he suggested that this was most likely a shower valve issue/adjustment.
