Chad was awesome. I brought him quite the challenge with double solid black bands with some symbols and he did great. It was my first tattoo and he was great about letting me know what to expect as far as pain and process. He was quick and precise and willing to try different methods of setup to make sure the lines came out clean. He also listened to my input for sizing and placement and was very patient with what I wanted. I am overall so happy with the result!

If I could give zero stars I would. My husband and I recently just lost our 3 year old daughter in a terrible accident. We went to Chad at newport tattoo for a memorial tat of our daughter. This is the "quality" work he does. After asking for a refund because clearly , he fucked up and there's no way to deny it. He demands 500 dollars from us and I said imagine this was your daughter (who is only 2 months older than our daughter was), and someone did this. He replied with a laugh "I know, imagine...imagine " laughing at us saying we know nothing about tattoos when I am covered in them and used to model Ink. And proceeded to laugh at us out of the shop while I am in tears. My husband sought the advice of 4 other artists who all agreed and referred to it resembling "dog shit". He has no respect and isn't qualified to do portraits. I will be reaching out to the shop owner Kareem. But this is what 1000 dollars gets you people. And permanently scarring and traumatizing a greiving family. Do not go here!!!!

New cartilage dainty little piercing to finish ear design

Absolutely amazing customer service, accuracy and very clean! Haven't gotten a new piercing in over 10yrs and recently felt the urge to get a new one to balance out my ear piercing design. Jenna was the exact person I needed to help. She talked through options with me, showed my potential jewelry options that went with the cartilage piercing we selected, and handled every step with care. She walks you through the process, is super clean, handles everything with care, has you focus on your breathing and the actual piercing was pain free. I'm absolutely obsessed with the placement! She did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Jenna!

So, this is the only tattoo shop I've ever gone into or worked with so I don't have a lot to compare it to.. But I had a great experience here at Newport Tattoo. I dropped by for a walk in on a Sunday afternoon and the shop was pretty slow so we were in and out within maybe 30 minutes (most of this time was me having them reposition or redraw the design due to my indecisiveness). I just got a small cross tattoo on my wrist, so nothing too intricate or anything. Jake is the one who did my tattoo and I love the way it looks! It was my first tattoo and I really appreciated how he took the time to explain everything to me and let me watch him set up and whatnot. He had a very calming presence and I didn't feel nervous at all once I was in the chair. Also, he was super patient with me having him redraw/resize/reposition until I felt like it was all right. I can't say a lot for pricing as it was such a simple tattoo that they charged me the minimum of $80. I don't really know how this compares, so not too much to say about that. I would definitely go back in the future & would recommend them if you're looking for someone to do your next tattoo.

I came all the way from Texas to California and stopped by on a whim to see if I can cover a scar on my shoulder. Justin was kind enough to take me in without an appointment. He was welcoming, professional, and incredibly talented. The tattoo turned out even better than I imagined! Can't even tell there is a bad scar behind it. He really cares about his work and his clients. Highly recommend Justin if you want an artist who goes above and beyond. read more

Came here to get my boyfriend's ears pierced for his birthday. After seeing their cute jewelry selection, I ended up getting my second lobe re-pierced. Jenna was able to squeeze me in and was extremely knowledgeable during the consultation. Since I had so much scar tissue from the original piercing, she recommended getting a different part of the lobe pierced to avoid serious keloids. Loved the jewelry and the service! read more

I have gone to this shop 5+ times and will continue coming back. Jess is amazing and always makes sure to work with you on what you want and has great pricing. Her line work is beautiful and her flash designs are so stinkin cute. She makes you feel super comfortable while you're there and has gotten me in on the dates/times I want every single time. Terrible customer service doesn't deserve a good review. When inquiring for information, it's poor form to speak in a condescending manner, attempting to embarrass me so other customers can hear. Learn basic manners and customer service etiquette 101 to the Caucasian female who abruptly spoke to us on Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately they weren't able to provide the service I came in for at the time (septum piercing) but they were all super kind and pointed me in the direction of a place that could and spoke highly of the other studio (Barbella). We will likely be returning for some ink work and potentially other piercings, but the entire staff was welcoming, didn't feel like I was a nuisance walking in for something and will definitely be back! If you're looking for service with a smile definitely stop in here, even if they can't help you out they can guide you! read more

A friend surprised me with an ear piercing appointment here for my birthday. I've never had any piercings before so I was slightly nervous going into it. Jenna was my piercer and her expertise quickly put my fears to rest. She reassured me throughout the entire process and made it way less stressful. I was in and out in roughly 30 minutes! Do not go here my 18 year old Daughter and her friend were treated horribly. She got her second tattoo here. It was a simple Love tattoo on her finger. They told them to come back for a touch up if any of the letters faded. The girls returned for their guaranteed touch up and were given attitude by the receptionist and the artist. They forced her to pay for the touch up. I would recommend that you stay far away from this place. read more

I came in for a walk in tattoo and I am very happy with my decision on this shop. My tattoo artist was John and he did an amazing job. At first I was nervous because I've never gotten a tattoo before and he did an amazing job couldn't have asked for a more skilled and cool artist. I went in for an appointment at 5pm for a tattoo from Judy and ended up sitting for two hours because her client before me wanted to add on more tattoos. Instead of telling the client to come back later or calling me to let me know she'd be late starting on me, she had me waiting. Finally 7 comes around and she begins outlining my design and starting my tattoo. The entire time it seemed like she rushed through it. I didn't want white originally in my tattoo but she showed me how it'd look with it and it looked nice, so I caved. Finally she finishes the tattoo and for a 3-4 inch tattoo that should've costed $250 at most ended up being $300. I gave her a tip for her time, but looking back, I had already given her a $50 deposit. Now, the white in the tattoo looks grey and black and some spots are shaded more than others. I paid almost $400 for this tattoo. For that price I could've gotten more done. Judy overcharges and does not follow by appointments. I regret coming to her for my tattoo and advise you to choose a different artist if you decide to go to Newport Tattoo. read more

Chad was awesome... I'm in love with my tattoo as it was a memorial to my mother as she passed a week ago. He did excellent and artistic work on my arm and kept me entertained with interesting conversations. He also did a matching tattoo on my sister which also is perfectly beautiful. WOW!! I could not be more impressed with my experience here. I really have to give the biggest shout out to my artist Brian!! If you are coming here I strongly suggest you choose him. He is so talented it's ridiculous. He really takes the time to make sure that every detail is perfect and that everything is symmetrical and balanced. This is the spot! I've been to both the Newport and Costa Mesa locations and all artist are great. I've gotten one side piece/cover up by Kareem and started another side piece by Hajnalka. No complaints here....I am completely satisfied and happy with their work. All staff are friendly, funny and welcoming. I don't think I'd go to any other shop. Keep up the great job everyone. read more

Got pierced by Nadine yesterday. Loved her personality!! I came in not completely sure of what I wanted or if I was even going to get a piercing but as soon as I talked to her I was convinced. I got a small helix in my left ear. Process was fast and relatively painless. I love how quickly she did the piercing because I hate needles. read more

Honestly I absolutely love this place my two top favorite artists are Jessica and chad!! The others not so much....The others lacked respect and cared about there own time and not there customers. However!!! I got an amazing touch up on a tattoo I already had that needed work done on it and Jessica was up for the challenge she took her time was super respectful made sure I was comfortable and that I was okay with everything she was doing. She honestly takes professionalism to the max and I felt welcomed and secure about what was being permanently tattooed on me. Honestly 10/10 with Jessica! and her line work is amazing! Awesome shop! I was looking for something intricate like a flower bouquet on my forearm. Brian and the rest of the staff listened to what I was saying and we came up with something absolutely beautiful and in my price range. I had originally gone to gold Rush tattoo and they we're very old school and wanted to use thick lines and old looking flower shapes and just didn't really seem interested in what I was saying. so I left and went to Newport tattoo to see Brian and I am so glad I did!!!! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the most welcoming set of guys. They are friendly, hospitable and make you feel very comfortable. The shop is clean and you can tell that they are very good with the upkeep of the cleanliness. Tattoo pricing varies according to the size of the piece or the amount of time it takes to finish it. It's 150$ and hour or the artist will just charge you by the piece itself. Bruce Chung has done 3/5 of my tattoos and I can say that I never leave the shop unsatisfied. He is detail oriented and will not let you walk out with anything less than spectacular work. He has a great sense of humor and is a lot of fun to talk to as well. My over all experience at this tattoo shop is just wonderful. I never thought I could feel so at home at a tattoo parlor. I recommended Newport Tattoo to anyone that is interested in getting a tattoo. You guys will not be disappointed! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Kareem M.

Born in Southern California, Kareem Masarani has traveled and lived in many parts of the world. Art and creativity has always been his motivation in life. Kareem began tattooing professionally at the age of twenty two. In 1996, on a whim he quit his job and drove to Alaska in his 1986 Volkswagen bus in pursuit of adventure. Arriving with no money and a hungry stomach, he began living in the alaskan wilderness outside of an old fishing town. Kareem found work in a cannery, only one problem, the cannery did not open for another week. Having to to eat, he used the little bit of change he had left to buy fishing line and hooks. After working for two weeks in the cannery, Kareem was offered a job in a local biker tattoo shop. Newly opened as the first local tattoo shop, it was time to make use of his apprenticeship.

The studio and the piercer's sanitation processes were top notch. The piercing process was as painless as possible and the communication throughout the entire process made it easy and comfortable. Even though I don't live close to this shop and there are other piercing studios nearby to me, I wanted to come to Rainbow Piercing to help me when I had an issue with my naval piercing because I knew I could trust them. Mason helped me again today when I couldn't get my navel piercing put back in. I had left my jewelry out for a week and I couldn't install it into the piercing by myself because the piercing had collapsed and trying to put the a piece in was painful, really tight, and dangerous to do by myself. They walked me through the process and were able to quickly and sanitarily install a piece into my piercing using a tapered tool. If you're not, I recommend the piercing shop in orange that will still give you good quality jewelry at a normal price, including the piercings at a normal price and they are just as knowledgeable as the piercers at C&M if not more. It's my First time here and needed a last minute tattoo but a very detailed tattoo, so when I came in from the jump the vibe of this place was on point. Everyone said hello and Jorge asked how he could help me... I told him my idea for my tattoo and he immediately sat down and started to work on my idea! Few moments later he showed me his work and it was exactly what I envisioned, we got to work shortly and I quickly felt at peace, his way of talking and starting conversation with me while tattooing made me feel so comfortable. I was able to look at his Instagram and see that he's definitely a veteran in the tattoo world with huge accolades, props to you Jorge! Long story short my detailed tattoo came out better than I could've ever imagined! I unfortunately can't return and give money to this establishment. Thr owner went on a political tirade against Conservatives and President Trump for over an hour, unprovoked, that made my experience quite awkward and uncomfortable. Alienating half the population with your political beliefs is no way to run a business. Especially when you accuse the POTUS of keeping closets full of dead babies. Wow. Too bad, I planned on returning to this location for years to come, as my artist, Brian, does amazing work. But I do not support business' that openly preach sedition against the sitting president.
