I've never had this problem elsewhere, including getting pupillary distance or measurements that would allow me to get glasses elsewhere if I want. It's petty. Also much more expensive than some other places that make equally good lenses with good frame choices, and they don;t take insurance which is of course their prerogative. As it happened while driving in bright and happy New England spring sunshine, I had to pull to the side of the road and dig out my emergency junk sunglasses that I had purchased a while back at some random 7-11 store *FOR* this exact reason. Talk about Deja-vu. I started looking for the closest Ray Bans store that I could drive to for free service and instead noticed a local optometry store literally a minute away. Since the desire was for a quick and convenient fix, I started driving their direction and was willing to pay for any services rendered. If you believe in fate like I do (just since there has been too many repeated coincidences to remain just coincidences), I was meant to find them today. Danielle greeted me with the friendliest smile and tone of voice the moment I walked through the door. She engaged me in conversation (that made me feel like a VIP) and quickly referred me to Felix, who was just as friendly and attentive. Felix fixed my glasses in less than a minute and was about to send me off on my way despite asking to pay for the service. He laughed and simply said, "I have a million of those screws and won't charge me for such a simple fix." This was when I turned back around and asked Danielle about their optometry services. I wanted to get another eye exam this year since the last one I had since moving here was...not particularly satisfactory in any way. Long story short, I was able to schedule an appointment next day and had a very thorough and fantastic eye exam with Denis, who ALSO was just as friendly as he was professional. Of course, if anyone knows me and glasses, it has never been about price. It's like the one gift to self that I look most forward to each year. This year, I really had something specific in mind that I wanted, which is to get a proper version of the cheap 7/11 spare glasses I bought back then when my Ray Bans first had issues. I loved the look. I loved the style. I loved the color of the lens. One hour later and after trying an endless amount of glasses, I found the right fit. Maui Jims. Surprise, surprise. Of course, this piece of junk copied something amazing lol. I picked it up a week after this exam and man, am I delighted. While they both look so similar, the "performance" is night and day. The clarity and the way it handles bright sun and reflecting light from cars and buildings...absolutely different. I don't even want to wear the Ray Bans anymore. I am so glad I made the decision to visit Dr. Le. In my first visit, she examined my eyes and found a condition that can lead to a retina tear. Dr. Le helped me get an appointment with a highly regarded ophthalmic practice. An ophthalmologist addressed the issue the same day. The ophthalmologist told me that I probably had the condition for around two years based on the scar tissue. He gave Dr. Le (who he doesn't know) a lot of credit for identifying a barely visible problem. He said that he could have missed it himself. Beyond the eye issue, Dr. Le was very thorough in examining my eyes, filling my prescriptions, and fitting me for the best glasses and contact lens. She is friendly, explains things effectively, and provides compassionate eye care. I would highly recommend Dr. Le to my family, friends, and anyone who is looking for an optometrist.

He did not charge me for the new lens (based on a new prescription)! In passing I had mentioned that I realized I didn't really like the reading glasses after all, and he exchanged the frame, again without charge. He knows his business and values his customers, and I am now a loyal one.

He totally SCREWED UP my eye exam (how hard is that??) and missed diagnosed my astigmatism by TWO POINTS! And they couldn't get one of their machines to work. Plus he said such a big change was very unusual and it might be corneal disease and sent me MERSI in Waltham for another exam and more $$$. All they wanted to do there was talk about surgery for my cataracts (which is not needed) Maybe Patel gets a kickback? So when I got my glasses, my vision was totally distorted and I was dizzy. So I finally went to a real optician at Newton Wellesley Eye Associates, they confirmed I actually had very little change in my RX and fortunately, the great folks at Focal Point in Newton changed to the correct RX without any charge. Pearle Vision was a DISASTER.
