This short but amazing journey with Peak Vision Care all started with a tiny, tiny, tiny lens screw popping off my prescription Ray Bans. As it happened while driving in bright and happy New England spring sunshine, I had to pull to the side of the road and dig out my emergency junk sunglasses that I had purchased a while back at some random 7-11 store *FOR* this exact reason. Talk about Deja-vu. I started looking for the closest Ray Bans store that I could drive to for free service and instead noticed a local optometry store literally a minute away. Since the desire was for a quick and convenient fix, I started driving their direction and was willing to pay for any services rendered. If you believe in fate like I do (just since there has been too many repeated coincidences to remain just coincidences), I was meant to find them today. Danielle greeted me with the friendliest smile and tone of voice the moment I walked through the door. She engaged me in conversation (that made me feel like a VIP) and quickly referred me to Felix, who was just as friendly and attentive. Felix fixed my glasses in less than a minute and was about to send me off on my way despite asking to pay for the service. He laughed and simply said, "I have a million of those screws and won't charge me for such a simple fix." This was when I turned back around and asked Danielle about their optometry services. I wanted to get another eye exam this year since the last one I had since moving here was...not particularly satisfactory in any way. Long story short, I was able to schedule an appointment next day and had a very thorough and fantastic eye exam with Denis, who ALSO was just as friendly as he was professional. Of course, if anyone knows me and glasses, it has never been about price. It's like the one gift to self that I look most forward to each year. This year, I really had something specific in mind that I wanted, which is to get a proper version of the cheap 7/11 spare glasses I bought back then when my Ray Bans first had issues. I loved the look. I loved the style. I loved the color of the lens. One hour later and after trying an endless amount of glasses, I found the right fit. Maui Jims. Surprise, surprise. Of course, this piece of junk copied something amazing lol. I picked it up a week after this exam and man, am I delighted. While they both look so similar, the "performance" is night and day. The clarity and the way it handles bright sun and reflecting light from cars and buildings...absolutely different. I don't even want to wear the Ray Bans anymore. I have, miraculously, not been needing/wearing eye glassed in to my sixties. I recently flunked my eye test at the Mass RMV and was told I needed to get corrected lens in order to drive at night. Eye test and new prescription so I visited Peak Vision Care, right here in my hometown of Newtonville. Felix and his team found a great style for me in no time and I love the way they make me look! I was looking for a high quality durable set of prescription frames, and wasn't happy with the frames my optician provided. I did some search and decided to checkout this shop in my neighborhood. Great selection of frames geared towards the high end which matches exactly what I was looking for. Staff (I believe her name was Daniela) was very friendly and recommended good options for personal style. I ended up picking a set of Minamoto frames with Crizal Prevencia coating. Felxi also helped me walk through my insurance options and understand them and discussed what I needed. I've had this new set of frames for a week and so far loved it! My best eyeglass frame broke. I am just old enough so that the company that made them is out of business. I keep spare parts of my old frames for emergencies. My normal optician said he could not grind down my best set of lenses and put into an emergency frame and I had to spend yesterday looking through old lenses with an out of date prescription. I took my problem to Opticians 3 where Steve, immediately said he could do it, AND DID! I ordered a new frame and I will have him set new lenses in that. A friend of mine told me that "the eyeglass place by the pet store" could fix my bent Ray Bans nose frame. I had nothing to lose when I arrived at 11 am Saturday. The store sign said they closed at noon but Stef told me they were open until 3 pm. Stef warned me that fixing the bridge might cause certain other parts to break but I was willing to chance it. Three hours later I walked in. Stef saw me and she smiled. (I knew then that she had fixed them!) While it wasn't back to factory-perfect, she had fixed it, oh, 98%. It had been ridiculously mangled and practically unwearable at 11 am. And when I asked her how much I owed, she said "no charge." I went into Opticians 3 looking to get a new pair of prescription sunglasses. Steve assisted me right away, helping and recommending frames based on my really obtuse description of what I wanted (and even going so far as to take my prescription, which I only have available as a pdf on my phone). The entire time, he could not have been more helpful or knowledgeable. It only took two days to get my rx sunglasses in, and I've been back a few times to have then tightened. So I finally had to admit that my Job Lot readers weren't actually doing the trick since I needed 2 different strengths for my daily routine. The time for progressive lenses had finally arrived. My nephew and I had a wonderful experience with Steve. My nephew had accidentally broken his glasses --- and needed them to see, play sports...and just be a thirteen year old! We walked into Opticians 3 and Steve greeted us warmly. He immediately let us know that it would take him little time to fix the glasses and that we could just wait in the store as opposed to coming back later. We waited --- 10 minutes tops --- and then Steve returned my nephew's glasses ...fixed in more ways than just what we saw as broken. Steve refused to take any money from us -- and happily spoke to my nephew for another 20 minutes or so about how to put soft contact lenses in the eye. Truly, Steve gave us a great lens lesson...with a mirror, his own eyes and fingers -- and was sure to point out why a lot of people have challenges with soft lenses at first. When we left Opticians 3, we had our glasses fitting like new and a whole lot of helpful advice about putting in and getting used to contact lenses! I was over at Harris cyclery in Newton (another excellent local business) when I discovered my favorite pair of Dior aviators had been completely twisted up in my bag. After I left Harris, I stopped into Opticians 3 to find a replacement. Well, not only did Steph help me find a very funky pair of shades, but Steve also fixed up mine as good as new! Great shop! The staff is very helpful with the whole process and goes above and beyond in customer service. My wife and I both ordered replacement lenses and new frames and were completely satisfied. I've gotten lots of compliments on my new look. Steve is one of the last people who actually cuts and installs the lenses himself rather than sending it off in the mail for someone else to perform, so you receive a much higher attention to detail. I hate that I have to wear reading glasses. I've had 20/20 vision all my life and now I can't read a menu in a restaurant without them. My wife has had her glasses made by the owner (Steve) for as long as I can remember (although with my failing vision it is possible my memory is going as well). So I went in with her one day because I needed a new pair of reading glasses (apparently my purple (everyone else called them pink but I disagree) framed readers were an embarrassment). Steve and Steph helped my wife pick a pair she really liked and were both super friendly and helpful. I also picked up an awesome pair of Maui Jim sunglasses at a great price to replace the sunglasses I found that my wife says are women's sunglasses (I'm sensing a theme). This independently-owned store is the only place to go for glasses! The difference between this store and any chain is: 1) a much better selection: you'd think the large stores would have great options but they all carry what their head office tells them to. In comparison, Steve Luria, the owner, has curated an awesome selection. It was so good we walked out with two pairs of glasses. 2) Prices were super competitive. 3) Steve knew his inventory - as compared to other stores where the workers don't know that another line might carry a similar style in the color you want. There weren't any reviews for the eye doctor here nor about getting new glasses, so here goes. I had my first eye exam in the US here. Dr. Terry is super-friendly and helped me with my first pair of contacts ever! I got my glasses here as well, and they were super-prompt. Being near-blind, I've generally had to wait a week or more for my special-order glasses, but they hardly took a day and a half. Steph was very helpful and got my glasses to fit me perfectly. Here's where I'll be going for my next eyewear and eye tests. I almost feel like taking a star of, just because it's not very easy to schedule an appointment on weekdays without atleast a week's notice. read more

I have had great experiences ordering eyeglasses and lenses from this store. Most recently I had received a prescription that turned out to be unsuitable, and they changed out the lenses for me WITHIN A DAY without charge. I bought my frames from them in 2012 and that was also a good experience. The woman who works here is fantastic (sorry I don't know her name) and I put my picky self in her hands and she picked out a glasses for me that I would have likely passed by that I still love and get lots of compliments on. My experience at Opticians 3 could not have been better. Steve greeted us at the door and I immediately found the Silhouette style I was looking for. I picked up the glasses only 24 hours later. I have never enjoyed the process of looking for new frames but this was painless and fluid. Because it is a privately owned store, there is a very personal way of interacting with the customer. Opticians 3 is a wonderful community business, and I feel lucky to have them nearby. We purchased excellent Maui Jim sunglasses for one of my daughters there and received great service and advice. Most recently, I stopped in there myself when I had broken my prescription sunglasses, which I am very attached. First, one of the temples broke off (these are the long arms that extend from the hinge over your ears and keep the glasses on). The optician couldn't fix the broken part, but searched in his supply of extra parts and found one that fit. In 15 minutes, my prescription sunglasses, which I depend on daily, were ready for me to wear again. Then a few weeks later, the same thing happened to the other temple. I stopped into Opticians 3 a second time, and once again the same kind optician fixed it -- he had the mate to the piece he had given me last time. He was very glad to help. Both times, he made this repair free of charge, and did it expertly. I offered to pay, but he declined. I was so grateful to have my sunglasses back for theres bright summer days!
