The best dog park! It's very well-maintained with Astroturf on the majority of it for the larger dogs and a small area of mulch. There is also multiple a water station found for both dogs and humans alike. They also have a water feature for dogs who like to run around during the hotter days. Plenty of benches and shade as well for you to relax on. This is one of the rare dog parks I have been to where you can come here anytime of the day and there will be other dogs for yours to play with. Overall, this is a kept very clean, although there are some owners who do not pick up their pets presents. read more

What a nice dog park! Newtown dream dog park is well maintained, clean and very spacious (at least the big dog's side) There is a huge parking lot since this is located inside the newtown park. Two separate gates for dog entrance divided into big and small side. All the fun stuff is on the big side, the small side is a much smaller area and not much dogs were there. I have two small guys and they both went to the big side. The astroturf is so nice, I prefer it so much more than gravel, dirt and grass. It feels like the pup's stay cleaner. There were a couple of stray poops laying around, maybe owners didn't catch their pups doing their business. Even though there were a lot of dogs, the space is so huge it didn't feel like it. I'm not from GA, I'm visiting from CA and was looking for some clean parks to take the dogs out to. I'm glad I found Newtown's. The day I came, there was a fight that broke out on the big dog's side and the owners took some time to separate and stop the fight causing a lot of ruckus with the other dogs. My dogs and I love coming here! There's two areas, one for small dogs, one for everyone. There's a cute little fountain to cool your pup off at and they get to run on fake grass, which is great during the summer time. Very impressed with the QUALITY and investment into this dog park. It's not only turfed, but there's a lot of clean benches to sit on, refreshed disposable bags throughout, & a large water fountain.. I've personally never seen such a well maintained doggy playground. We were overjoyed to see the community using this facility ~ there were about 10 other dogs there the Thursday morning we went. A great place to bring your dog, however this last time I was here none of the owners were picking up after their dogs and it smelled really bad, it was very crowded which is fun for the dogs, b really got to me is other peoples neglect of picking up after their dogs, I like the Astroturf since the dogs don't get all filthy rolling around in dirt, even though there is a dirt patch on the side that leads to a different area that is also gated, not really sure what it's for, but anyway, is not a bad place and 3 min from my house. read more

My fur baby had an awesome time here. I really enjoyed watching her have fun with so many dogs. At first I let her go in with the big dogs which she was fine but she didn't seem to be too excited. Great dog park, plenty of shaded seating and walkways. I like the astroturf so my dog doesn't get too muddy and the fountain is also really nice for the dogs on a hot day. It wasn't too crowded when I came on a saturday afternoon. It reminds me of a small version of fetch park but without the bar, and its also free! read more

We love Newtown Park! The dog park is great, clean & well kept, and our Golden retriever loves playing in the water.

This dog park is easy to pull in and has a great deal of parking. Even if it's a busy, packed day, you can drive down to any of the other parking lots and enjoy a short walk to the playpen. I've never seen a water fountain for dogs, but I'm glad they had one. The sun was scalding today! We could all use more hydration in our lives. Our dogs had a fantastic time with their new pals! All the tail-waggers got along nicely. I could tell the community cares about their pets. Just about everyone in the Johns Creek neighborhood seems respectable & caring to each other. This is a great dog park! This park is so clean and friendly. There is turf for grass and there is a big water fountain in the center of the dog park. There is also an arched bridge with tunnels under it for your dog to explore. There's much more things to do there. Cotton and Biscuit really liked the bridge: they wouldn't stop walking across it! There is a small and large dog park for any small dog owners. There are some aggressive dogs there but not a lot. They also have a wooded area for them to explore. My dogs had a blast at this dog park and I highly recommend going to this dog park if you live near it. read more

Best dog park that we have been to in the Atlanta area so far. 1. Large field with fake grass for larger dogs to run, play fetch, and play in water. They have a fountain. 2. Enclosed large forest area right next to it for a quieter less crowded running space. 3. Very popular park so I never worry that there wont be enough dogs for my dog to play with. It's been fairly busy everytime we go whether its afternoon or evening. 4. Small dog fenced area with water fountain and fake grass as well. 5. The astro turf makes a huge diff. The facilities are top notch. What everyone needs or know is that the dogs are supposed to be vaccinated , socialized and well trained before entering the park ( both of mine are akc dogs ) . No one supervises this. We took our 6 month old puppy , after he had all his shots . He got attacked by a pack of dogs. He is a large breed , and I can only assume the other dogs didn't get he was still a puppy . Anyway my husband picked up our dog and five large dogs were locked onto his neck. Two fell off. That left three lacked onto the neck and not one of the three owners did a thing . No one interceded. Thankfully the dog survived , but he was in his socialization phase and is now shy. He is skittish and lets our other dog scope out other dogs before he joins the group. He's didn't go aggressive , so that is a plus. Just be careful. Owners are not that observant. I now bring air spray to the park. I've interceded in a dog fight before and ended up hospitalized. Not everyone is a responsible pet owner. Many people Are distracted at the park. We now go on weekdays , so that our dog will lose his memories of the attack. read more

Love this place and the amount of people and dog that come here is amazing. Even on a hot day, you can see people with their dog. Dogs just kept coming, which was nice for my dog who need it. We are visiting the area and looked up dog parks for my dog. We come from Detroit where we do have dog parks but this one was amazing. Had splenty of running space and sitting for people. Has a doggy bridge, a shaded area, kiddy pools, a gire hydrant (acts as a fountain). Many benches and doggy picnic table. Trash cans and poop bags. There is a small and large dog section. There is also a separate section that is mulched for perhaps training. It says it is sponsored by purina. Honestly, i would pay money to go to this dog park each time, that is how nice it is. This is hands down the best dog park I have been to. Me and my girlfriend got a newfoundland puppy last september and everytime he leaves the house he goes to sit by my car because he wants to go to this park. I love the artificial turf that covers most of the park as anyone who has a long haired white dog probably does. The turf makes it so that every trip to the park doesn't involve giving him a bath. There are always people and dogs there which is nice because it's kind of the point of the dog park is to let you dog play with other dogs. During the summer there are fountains for dogs that love being wet and the water. So if you are going during the warm weather months be sure to bring towels because if your dog wants to be wet here he will be. The one thing to be aware of is there is a presence of some helicopter dog parents here so you may have to explain that just because dogs are making noise doesn't mean they are being aggressive. All in all there are great people here who love their dogs as well as yours. Any pup will enjoy this place. read more

After a lonngg hiatus I have returned to Yelp. First stop, back to Newtown Park and dog park area. This is the improvement I was hoping for. Finally a nice area for the little dogs too! We now have a small cute area with benches for pet parents (both shaded and unshaded), there is a bone shaped little fountain, lots of space for our little ones to roam and sniff about and astro turf...Yehhhh It seems every park we visit the little dogs always get the runt of whatever is leftover from the large dog areas and usually they are not very well kept. Little dogs are dogs too so treat us like family:-). Please continue to obey the rules patrons and keep your large breeds out of our little area! You have one of your own right next door literally. Also some pet parents need to reminders of proper etiquette and behavior from your pets, be respectful when you bring your fur-kids to the parks We arrived on Father's Day at 9AM. I love going that time of the morning, a lot less people or dogs and more parking as this is quite a popular spot. We drive from Cobb county to spend time here. This time we really explored the park itself and how wonderful and beautiful it truly is. The walking, bike paths are sooo amazing with fountains, bridges, sitting areas and lots of green space. We did take note the storms did a little bit of damage throughout the park knocking down large tree limbs etc The ponds had the turtles out and it was just a gorgeous day, lots of elders out walking, parents with kids and loads of us with dogs on leashes enjoying the day. It is very nice and well kept, the grass is fake so it's always in good condition and our pup can't eat it lol there are dogs of all breeds there, never seen an aggressive dog though. The owners have been wonderful and offered many tips and are watchful to make sure the dogs are playing nice. The very 1x we visited, I was impressed with the layout of the park. It's very spacious! They do have two sections; for Medium/Large Breed and Tiny/Small Breed. I've read up on several Doggie ParX and this one is the most desirable. Our 1x visit didn't go as well as I hoped for b/c we had just recently lost her brother and I was trying to bring her spirits up by taking her to socialize with other packs. Our next visit became more enjoyable for her. I'm not sure if it was the new meds (arthritis) she was on but she couldn't wait to get in the pen to play. Let me begin that it was clean- in saying so, that of course, there were accidents and not sure why it wasn't picked up, but, it didn't bother many. The FurKids were everywhere in the park. They have water spouts and they lay out pools for the kids to jump in and out of. The grass was made of turf and they had two water fountains for the FurKids to drink out of. This DogPark is embedded in a park setting so if U wanted to, U can take a walk around the park before bringing Ur BB in the pen. A lot of the parents were very sociable as well. Met several who would drive from far and wide just to come to this park b/c as they tell me, it's the best one. They don't mind the drive nor do I for Zoe to run around with others. Pros: 1. there are always a ton of dogs here so plenty for my dog to 'sniff' haha 2. no mud so your pups won't be super dirty leaving here 3. if you dog likes water there is a place for them 4. a large and small dog area Cons: 1. needs some more covered areas, in the Summer there is barely anywhere to seek shade and with so many folks it gets too close for comfort. 2. 98% of the time this place smells like pee, more specifically ammonia smell. Took my pups to Newtown Dream for the first time this afternoon. We had a great time! Plenty of activities to do with your furry friends and the hydrant-shaped fountain was a big hit when it was time to cool down. Dogs and owners alike were mostly friendly and easy going; a couple of smartphone zombies in every crowd are expected these days. The facility is in good repair and we didn't come across any broken or malfunctioning equipment. Parking was ample and accessing the facility was easy. Overall it was a great experience for me & my dogs. The only reason it's not a five star rating for me is due to the excessive droppings in the wood chip covered area. I think the small depression in the landscape there promotes an 'out of sight, out of mind' attitude. We will be returning to this dog park again! read more

My review is strictly based on the dog park portion of the Newtown dream dog park. I've been here a couple of times it's really a nice place to bring your dog. Jungle Gym type thing and place for water of course an area for big dogs separate from snall ones. The area is well kept. I've seen some aggressive dogs in there a couple of times but not enough for us to not enjoy the park. The dogs seem to enjoy playing around and chasing each other. That's definitely a place where I bring Samantha whenever I have a little more free time I might have to drive up there because I live in Sandy Springs. I recently discovered the Brook Run Dog Park. That's probably the area we'll frequent more often since it's closer and it's a bigger Park and it also has a trail we can go around and get exercise in. I'll definitely check out this park fairly often as well. read more

Came to this park on a Saturday, mid-day, after reading online that it was created after the design won a contest. I live in Atlanta, so it was about a 30 minute drive out of the city, not bad at all without traffic. There is parking on site and no fee to park or play. I have two dogs, both mixes under 2 years old, at 20 and 30 lbs. We spent majority of our time in the "Large Dog" area, however this area is where most dogs are. When we arrived there were none in the "Small Dog" area and dogs of all sizes in the other. Plenty of dogs to play with so that was great. The water park was turned off due to the cold, which was fine, of course. The turf is great and afterwards our dogs were significantly less dirty than they normally are after a visit to the dog park. Of course, there will always be a handful of dogs that want to pick a fight or are not used to a lot of dogs around, but don't let that deter you from taking your furry friend here! Will definitely be returning. read more

The pros: * Even during rush hour, this parked is tucked away enough that ingress/egress is a piece of cake * Plenty of room to accommodate even a couple dozen large dogs * After a few visits, I've never witnessed any aggression, and owners seem to be watching and aware of their pets' whereabouts and activities * There are several "poop stations" with baggies and waste baskets, so cleaning up after your dog is easy and convenient * There are a few agility 'obstacles' for your pooch to play on/around, but there is also a lot of open space for ball chasing and playful footraces with fellow dogs * The people you find here tend to be very friendly. I've been to dog parks in the past where owners are uptight and freak out if *gasp* someone's dirty paw prints mess up their Lululemon yoga pants. At Newtown, most people seem to realize they are, in fact, at a dog park, and getting a little dirt on your shoes/pants is entirely within the realm of possibility. The "it's a washes": * The big park area is Astroturf, not grass. This is a good thing because even on the day after a hard rain, you can take your dogs here without the worry of the entire park being a mud puddle. However, it's also a bad thing because the smell of urine gets trapped underneath the Astroturf, and it can occasionally get overpowering between washes. * There is a large fountain area. Good for dogs who like to splash around, bad for the people who must bathe them immediately after. Also, this seems to be a very popular place for taking a whiz, so your dog might be frollicking in someone else's pee pee. The cons: * Newtown Dog Park is located next to several other recreational facilities. I suppose this could be a good thing if you're a family and someone wants to play with the dog(s) while someone else feels like running/playing basketball. However, it makes for a congested parking lot when the weather is nice, and there isn't a lot of space to maneuver. Just be careful and you're good! The verdict: Of the half dozen or so dog parks I've visited since moving to Roswell last year, this is one of my favorites, and one to which my dog and I frequently return. read more

If this were closer to my house (about a 35 min. drive from the city) this would definitely be my new favorite dog park. Lots of space for the dogs to run around, plenty of obstacles, separated into large and small parks, and poop stations with bags and trash cans. Above all else, however, the astroturf is a GOD SEND. There is a water play area with fountains and kiddie pools and the ground is VERY wet all around it but there is NO mud. It's amazing. My puppy was out of her mind excited about the dozens of dogs she got to play with, and she was so excited about the worlds largest drinking bowl (kiddie pool, she hates swimming). Favorite dog park ever! Parking: There is plenty of parking, but it can get packed on weekends when there are soccer games and other team sports going on in the park. You may have to park farther from the dog park on busy days, but you shouldn't have too much issues finding a spot. Dog Park: Don't you hate when you go to the dog park, and your dog rolls all over the dirt/mud? You don't have that problem at Newtown Dog Park! The main gated section is entirely astroturf, which means no dirt/mud! My dog was so clean (compared to days at traditional dog parks) after running around and playing for an hour. However, note that dogs end up peeing on the astroturf, which means it's not really as clean as you want it to be... There are a few obstacles you can walk your dog through (if they don't get distracted by all the fun around them), a water fountain play area, shaded seating, and plenty of room for your pup to run and play! Owners: The large dog area was poppin' on Saturday morning, and most owners were great about watching and cleaning up after their dog. I didn't see any stray poops laying around on the astroturf, and potential fights were ended ASAP by the owners. It was also great seeing everyone giving my dog pets! She loves going up to new people as much as she loves meeting new dog friends, so it made me happy (although a bit betrayed) when I saw my dog receive pets from everyone she went up to (someone pet her for at least 5 minutes while reading a book to their kid). Overall, a clean and spacious park with responsible owners! My dog might not know it herself, but she can't wait to go back the Newtown! read more

The dog park is awesome. Tons of parking! The park comes with lots of water fountains for the dogs to drink from, along with plenty of poop bags around to pick up after your dog. Now, I will say this place can get very crowded. With that being said, it's easy to become a social spot, so keep a close eye on your pup! Not everyone is as engaged as they should be or correcting their dog when need be, so it's up to YOU, the owner, to protect and watch YOUR dog. There are no doggy supervisors but YOURSELF! There's up to 100 dogs in the park at times, so be prepared for anything! You're not dropping your dog off at a daycare no owners are trained to look for all the signs of aggression. As a K9 handler and former vet tech, I highly suggest being proactive to supervise your dog, anything can happen. Bring a air horn or a spray bottle in case a pack fight situation (rare but it happens!) read more

I'm seriously so bummed that I had to drive 30-45 minutes away from my home in Inman Park, to bring my dog to a kickass place that's clean, has AstroTurf, plenty of water fountains and poop bags!!! The best part is, is that I don't have to wipe off mud and feces when we leave. It's been a very difficult transition for us leaving Miami where there are tons of great clean parks to visit.
