Quite unhappy with this outfit. Came out and diagnosed problem. Charged me a service visit and then I paid for supposed part to fix problem. Came back out a 2nd time to install part and after installing, fireplace still did not work. I refused to pay for 2nd visit since the fire place was still inoperative. The tech got pissed off when I said I would not pay for visit but did say that he would go back and check on other parts to fix problem. After a week of not hearing anything, I called and it was obvious that he had done nothing more and simply written us off. The person I then spoke with said they would research; they called a day later and said after researching, that parts were no longer available. Seems like it would have been far better to determine this after the first visit right ? Not a happy camper read more

After years of cleaning the flu and wood burner insert I called two years ago to have a complete clean and service. Excellent service, polite, and explained a few tips that I didn't know. And I ran the stove for close to 25 years. My Osburn is still kicking out heat. I had it installed by a different fireplace company. The company never had the liner in correctly and this was corrected by Newtown. I'm considering having a second free standing stove installed at the house since inserts don't work well during power outages. They will get my business. read more

Very off putting since the first phone call. I was interested in having someone come to my house to give me a quote on installing an electric insert. I was told to come to the store first so that I don't "waste their time". When I went to the store for a quote, I felt as though I was begging for their business. Five days later, after reaching out about the status of a quote, I get a phone call and only told "ballpark" pricing. Ed at Newtown Fireplace owns and runs a great company. We made a purchase of the new Valor Linear Series L1 with the Heat Shift System. What a gorgeous stove. The Valor product was recommended by Ed because of quality and efficiency for our Living room. The fireplace actually vents close to the ceiling and produces a convection type heat circulating around the room with no fans. Now back to Newtown Fireplace. I can't say enough good things about Newtown Fireplace and their installer Ram. Ram has been with the company for over 20 years and went to great detail installing our stove. It would be great if all contractors worked in the manner that he worked, professionally, carefully and diligently, with no detail overlooked. Ed, the owner, was most professional. We put down a 50% deposit on the unit and had to wait for the Heat Shift System to come in from Valor. Ed had the working fireplace installed prior to all of the parts arriving and never asked for any additional money. He told me that I could make final payment when either the job was done or when I was happy with the finished product. Well I am happy with the product and the job is complete! We had a very bad experience with Newtown Fireplace. Bought a house in Holland 2 years ago and it has a propane fireplace that we have never used. Called a propane company to come out and they said that we needed an inspection first. Newtown came out - an hour and a half late. Spent 45 seconds in our house to tell us that they can't do the inspection without a tank installed. And then tried to charge us for a service call. We refused to pay and they told us they will send a bill. I am not paying them, under any circumstances for 45 seconds of work that happened an hour and a half after it was supposed to. Their office is literally 7 minutes from my house. I would have used them to service the fireplace in the future if I would have had a good experience. It's a shame. We used Newtown Fireplace Shop for a Chimney Inspection for a house we are in the process of purchasing. After calling 2 other local chimney inspectors (I only called Newtown 3rd because I was going down the line of the closest businesses to the property), and these businesses telling me it wasn't worth their time to come out because I was not yet the homeowner... I was thrilled to speak to the friendly associate who picked up the phone at Newtown Fireplace Shop. They were able to schedule an appointment without any hesitation or problem within a few business days. Tom, our Service Technician, was extremely professional, friendly and extremely patient explaining everything that he was looking for and the results he found. Unfortunately, we will need to replace the wood burning stove that he inspected. He was very helpful explaining the process that it would be to replace it as well as options and a rough estimate of the price range similar stoves would cost. He was obviously encouraging us and hoping we would come to his shop when the time came to replace the stove, but he wasn't being pushy with a sale, which was wonderful. We will definitely be coming to the store when we decide to purchase a new stove. He also emailed me the inspection report within 24 hours!
