After 25+ years of faithful service, it was time to retire my sofa. Wanted a light sofa after moving my heavier sofa with recliner seats several times between Hawaii and the Mainland. Visited another furniture store and found a couple of possibilities but decided to also check out the NEX (Navy Exchange) Home Gallery. So glad I did! Found something that met my criteria in the first 25 yards of entering the store. Still made a circuit through the store to see if there were any other acceptable ones. Found out that the Ashley furniture was 20% off, good deal! Went up to the counter to order the sofa. Turns out they only had the floor model, which they offered an additional 10% off, dealages! Added delivery, a disposal fee for the old sofa, and set up a delivery appointment. A couple of days before delivery, got a voicemail setting up a 4 hour window of delivery. On the day of, got a call from the delivery person saying I was the next delivery and wanted details of truck placement and entrance. Once they got to my condo, it took them about 20 minutes to retrieve the old sofa and deliver the new one. I've used NEX Home Gallery several times for furniture, the no state excise tax and frequent discounts/sales are a plus. NEX also has a partnership with Home Depot, where you get a discount for appliances bought there. Definitely will take advantage of it when I'm in the market for a new refrigerator! The furniture has INSPIRATION furniture as well reasonably price. There's no sales personal on the floor unless we go to the front register asking for help. It's a huge store with lots of options to choose from! It's only for those people who have a military ID cards. We were helped by a young cordial gentleman at the register for the paperwork to purchase our order and delivery dates. I went to the NEX Home Gallery to look at what was in stock. The warehouse looks a lot bigger on the outside. There is a variety of couches, mattresses, dining sets, and bed frames. The back room has smaller furniture pieces (rugs, desks, side tables, gaming chairs). I found some good couches at reasonable prices. I compared the same styles to Ashley Home Furniture and the prices were better at the NEX. Some of the pieces look too big for an apartment, but it should fit in a house. I found a beautiful dining room set and plush chairs to match. I can't give the service a fair review because they were busy and I wasn't planning to make a purchase that day. I plan on visiting again when I'm ready to pick out pieces for my home. read more

You do need a military ID in order to shop at this furniture store. Wait until you have a scratch off to save even more money! I recommend paying for the delivery/set up service. I seen this beautiful bedroom furniture set but absolutely no one around to assist. Major bust so we just walked out of there. Parking is never an issue so that's a plus. If I could give this place no stars or even negative stars I would!!!! I bought furniture with my father (who is the military card ID holder for my apartment. Mind you when you walk in NO ONE says hello or asks if you need help. They just all stand in the front talking story or on their cell phones. When we went they had mediocre furniture selection but none the less I bought what I needed. The girl that was ringing us up first of all was super rude, did not ask "did you guys find everything okay?" Nope nothing, she just rang us up and made me fill out a paper. When I had asked about setting up the delivery date and time she had a confused look on her face and she had to ask her co worker for help. According to the co worker the moving company that they use would contact my father. We paid and left. Fast forward to a week later, no one from the moving company called my father. So I asked him if he could call them, so he did. When he had asked the moving company for a "proof of insurance for liability" The girl on the phone didn't know what he was talking about and said she would ask her supervisor and call my father back........2 days later no call back. My father calls again and a different girl answered stating the girl who was suppose to follow up with her supervisor must have "forgotten." At this point me and my father are very pissed. I call the furniture store today 5/20/19 , mind you it took 3 tries and almost waiting on the phone for over 2-3 minutes for someone to pick up the telephone. When someone did answer she was very rude and when I was explaining my situation she had asked "are you sure your calling the right place?" The one thing that bothers me is when people are ride and second thing is that when they imply I'm stupid. Im not the smartest human in the world but yes I do have a brain. After getting the phone number to the moving company she hangs up, not even a "bye" or "i apologize" I called the moving company and they don't answer (of course) but on the voicemail there was a supervisors phone number or manager. So I called both and not so surprised, but I get both voicemails. I leave a message with my information (name, issue, and phone number). Still waiting for a call back. Long story short me and my father have decided to go with another moving company to pick up my furniture from the NEX and take it to the apartment. This is honestly the WORST WORST WORST place ever to shop. Expect no customer service and very rude and stupid people. I've worked in customer service over 6 years and never have I ever treated a customer or anyone the way these employees treat people. Or I should say don't even acknowledge people. And the only reason I bought my furniture from this stupid place is because its no tax and the last time I came here they was actually nice stuff. But now there stock is not nice. You are able to do special order but again none of the employees tell you nor show you how to use the machine but thats not a shocker coming from these employees. read more

This review is for the furniture delivery drivers. If I could give a negative star, I would. I own a business that is a store front to an apartment building. These delivery drivers were delivering furniture to a tenant in the building. We have an open parking lot for easy access which they were parked in but decided to move directly in front of my shop, blocking the entrance to my shop AND forcing customers to walk out into the busy traffic. These men knew what they were doing but felt entitled and would not move back into the parking lot. This situation caused my shop to close for 40 minutes because no one could get in. UPDATE: This is an update from my previous review to say my issue was resolved. However, I'm still going to leave 1 star on here because the furniture store people did not really assist me in rectifying the problem.. it was the customer service manager from the main store/warehouse who called to remind us about picking up our table, and when we told them the situation they were like "oh no.. let me get someone to schedule delivery for you free of charge" Unlike the furniture store manager who spoke to us like we were stupid and said they needed to charge us the delivery fee if we wanted our table even though they gave us the wrong one. The bottom line is: the customer service in the furniture store sucks. Some employees look like they hate their job and it really shows. At least the NEX customer service came through for us. /////////////////// I'm just going to flat out say that customer service here is non existent. My experience here was very unpleasant. My husband and I purchased a table here. We jumped through hoops to pick the table up from the warehouse because we wanted to avoid paying the delivery fee. Later that night, we unboxed the table and discovered that it was the wrong table. The receipt matched what we initially wanted, but someone at the warehouse gave us the wrong item. I'm going to skip over most of the details and just say that the employees made it seem like it was our fault for taking home the wrong item. Instead of talking to us as we stood right in front of her, she told the male employee something along the lines of "I just spoke to them on the phone today but they picked up the item a week ago" and something else along the lines of "why are they here because I told them blah blah blah over the phone" How is it our fault for taking home the wrong item? Shouldn't the person issuing the item at the warehouse be at fault? I'm not pointing fingers here but let's say I bought a $500 TV and some dude handed me a $5000 TV. Most people wouldn't be honest enough to return it, so y'all need to pay attention to detail. Additionally, what does it matter if we waited 7 days later to address the problem? We have busy lives and Sundays are our only free day. Omggggg. Customer service here is just so bad. Anyway, my issue is still unresolved. She already made it clear that they won't deliver the correct item and haul away the incorrect item at no additional cost. I'm not one to ask for free things as compensation, but we really did jump through hoops to pick up the table and would have to jump through hoops to bring it back. Most businesses would waive the fee just because they messed up. She even wanted us to buy the table we originally paid for again right then and there. Like how inconvenient... Horrible. I went to the merchandise department to pick up my purchased item. The person who delivered my product to my car was very rude. He's Asian (maybe local Japanese guy in his 40's or 50's). I wanted my product to be placed in my car a certain way. It was a little hard to put my product inside my car BUT there were always diff ways to do so BUT he seemed very rude, made rude sarcastic comments in a very rude tone. He was rushing me. I felt like I just wanted to just do it myself and tell him to go away because he was just rude, rushing me, and I felt stressed from him. Last time I checked this was a retail location that was meant to sell furniture. Yet, no one asks you if you need help and they take forever just to ring you up. We walked in Sunday night around 6 pm. It was dead! Not to mention it was raining so of course no one comes out when it's raining. We walked straight to the back of the store where the mattresses were. We knew that we wanted to purchase a tempur pedic pro adapt mattress, but just wasn't sure what firmness we wanted. We tried the mattresses out for a few minutes and decided on the firm mattress. We went straight to the cashier to pay and there was one person in front of us and three ladies at the register helping absolutely no one. They did not say a word to any of us standing in line. We all stood there for another 30-45 mins with no acknowledgement. Out of the three ladies, only one lady was helping customers. Very odd. Then, when it was finally our turn she had no personality, no thank you for waiting. She literally rang us up, gave us our paperwork, and sent us on our way. The perks of being in the military allow you to shop at places just like this with some of the best deals and no tax. Yet, when we do shop here we get treated with no respect or aloha. Like the peeps said, this stuff isn't gonna win any design awards. It's functional, but overstuffed and too large in scale for most places here. And you already know the military-only purchasing deal here. Location is pretty central to everything, and there is a Penske rental location a few streets away if you just PCS'ed in, you don't want to pay their delivery fees, and you no mo' one uncle wit da truck cause he sold um. (Like us! ;)) Plenty of parking. They stay open pretty late, compared to some furniture places. Biggest disappointment was the bedding/mattress area. Nothing in stock, all made to order and it takes weeks. Delivery is kind of pricey compared to other places, but maybe they figure the "no tax" deal evens it out. A LOT of bonded leather, but at least it's cheap. Design isn't great. A lotta lotta wood and distressed/shabby chic stuff, if that's your thing. No one offered to help us find anything as we went through the store, even when we sat on the furniture. I appreciate a low-pressure tactic, but ignoring a customer is a little crazy. Asked for some help and was told she would be back in a minute but never returned. Guess they were too busy...We did see sales people talking to each other, though. If there was good stuff to be found or special ordered, we never saw/heard of it--a good sales rep would've been nice to turn that tide. Because despite relatively low prices, we couldn't find anything we wanted in the house. Even their "contemporary" Ashley pieces just seemed old--think "mediocre North Carolina furnished apartment" kind of stuff. Naaaaaaah. Bottom line: Wouldn't return unless the buyers change the vibe in there. We purchased the Ashley Barcelona faux leather sofa set. Over 1000.00 in furniture and it is all ruined from the peeling and flaking faux leather. I would suggest against making this purchase. Summary: Hands down the best place for military to go for purchasing furniture essentials IF you plan ahead and take advantage of sales. TIPS - Wait for holidays, scratch cards, and benefits when opening a Military Star Card. I was able to save about $2000 w/Vet's Day sales, scratch cards, and initial benefits for opening a Military Star Card (10% I believe?) while purchasing bedroom set, couch, ottoman, shelves, coffee table, mattress. - Visit the store a couple times to decide what you like. The floor sets are always changing. - Look closely. The best stuff might not be in front or on the floor at all. Research special order options. - Delivery fee is very reasonable. - As you are waiting on the special deals, ask an associate to draft up an invoice w/all the stuff you want. Chances are, if you do this about a week or so before the holiday/special sales, the stuff will still all be in stock. You can then return to the store during the sale, avoid the people, and just finalize the order. CONNS - Being in HI, special orders are advertised to take 4-6 months...in my experience, I waited 3(ish). Make sure you aren't buying if there is a chance you could PCS in 6 mo or less. - I wouldn't go here if you're looking for super quality kids furniture, unique pieces, or home office stuff. Well here I am... I purchased what was supposed to be a queen mattress from the clearance room at the NEX Home Gallery. There were two signs on the mattress one for King size pricing and one for Queen size pricing. I returned to the store the following day to pick up my queen sized mattress that my receipt qualified me for only to find that the only size that was really available was the King. The sales person failed to check, mention or in any way do anything more than the bare minimum to ensure the success of the sale. I had to take extra time (aka money) to return to the store and speak with the manager. The manager dealt with my frustration towards the situation and eased my tension as well as more than rectified the situation. I am extremely appreciative of this and even though the incident was far from ideal, at the end of the day I am MORE than satisfied with the end result. Okay. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because of the price of the furniture. I've gotten multiple pieces from this store at a really good price. Best part is that it is really awesome furniture! I have my bed room set that I bought about 5 years ago and it's still in really awesome condition. But what irked me is that my husband and I were looking at buying a bed here. And there was literally nobody in the store to help us or answer my questions. When I finally caught an associate he told me he was too busy to help us. But he was really flirting with two girls. We ended up buying a nice bed for a good price. But customer service here is the worst I've experienced. Also we paid $100 to get the bed delivered. The guys who set up the bed were amazing especially because the bed was super heavy. But we got a defective bed and ended up having boxes and parts of our bed spread around the house for a week. Because that's the quickest they could come back out. Finally, my bed is all together and I'm happy girl. But the experience wasn't that great. They also left all the wrapping at my house so I have to dispose of it. read more

I only shop here because of the price when you have the scratch card and special deals. I ordered a King Size bed and was told it would take about 2 weeks to be made as its made locally. I've been waiting almost a month for the call. I finally called them to ask what was going on with my order. They tell me it has been there for 3 weeks and they called. I received NO calls and no messages. I asked her to confirm my phone number. She said a wrong number. I said NO, that's not my number and I saw the lady write it down and even corrected her as she wrote it and clarified it. She responded, "well thats what it looks like to me". So, if the handwriting is piss poor maybe they can change their system to TYPE in our contact information or take an email as well as a phone number to ensure they can reach their customers one way or another. Went sofa shopping over the weekend stopped in at the NEX home gallery to check out some options. As soon as you walk in there is a foul smell in the store. It was all so crowded & cluttered. It is very hard to walk around to look at the furniture. I know there is a lot of military families on the island so this store stays overwhelmed with customers, especially now that covid is winding down. However I really wished that during the pandemic shut down they would have the carpets steam cleaned and some of their upholstered items washed. That store smells like old bus seats. read more

I recently purchased a couch here. When I looked up the same couch online I found that I did overpay, even with the 15% off discount they were running. I understand that we are in Hawaii and it takes extra time to deliver here, but most of the furniture they have on hand is "clearance" items on the mainland. So in true Hawaii fashion, you're paying a lot more for the same crap. I really have no idea if they have any way of changing that but it was disappointing. I bought a 3 piece sectional here and paid $100 to have it delivered to my apartment on the 18th. Unfortunately the hallways in my apartment complex were too narrow, so it had to be sent back because it wouldn't fit. I'm not upset about this. I'm upset that every single time I called to ask about getting a refund no one would answer the phone. And it sucks because I didn't have the time to drive over there before going on leave. I read the contract that I signed and understand that it wouldn't be a full refund. But I would still like my money back. Quite possibly the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered! I went in to buy a mattress on sale. It was featured in the ad, so I already knew it was on sale. I own the full size of this particular mattress already, so I knew I liked that exact one. This time we were buying the twin for my other child's room. I found the mattress on the sales floor, which was tagged for the sale price. It did not have any pull tickets so I took a picture of the tag to take the to the register. The cashiers name was Wade, he was very friendly and nice. We get the mattress open at home and it looked very flat and the color was off. It is memory foam and the one we wanted was hot pink and thick, the one we got was flat and a much lighter pink. I gave it a day thinking it might fill out and they just changed the color. That did not happen. I went into the store and explained that I thought I was given the wrong mattress. The female cashier got her supervisor who was an older female with long hair and glasses. I told her what happened she insisted that I got the correct mattress. I showed her my picture of the tags on the product and she told me that customers switch tags all the time and she doesn't know who put it on there , insinuating that I did. She turned around and walked away and just left me on the sales floor. I went out front where I know they have the managers posted so I could get their information and hopefully talk to them. I proceeded to my car where I called and asked for a manager to call me back. The supervisor told me she was in charge. I asked if the man on the sign in the front of the building was the general manager and that I would like to talk to him. She immediately offered me the floor model at a 30% discount but refused to get my information to the manager or to let me talk to him. I decided to come home and get the mattress and go in with it to figure everything out. When I got home I found the sales ad which in fact had the mattress I originally wanted in it. I called and again asked for the manager, and again was denied any contact with him. The supervisor offered an even return for a floor model because that is all they had left. When I arrived to exchange she walked me to where the 2 floor models were, she told another worker to have me choose one. I went back up front to pick up my exchange receipt. The supervisor didn't not speak to me at all. I thanked her and said i appreciated her help and she just started at me. I have no idea if they actually had more of the mattresses or if she was just saying that because she did not want to do the exchange. Every single interaction I had with her she was just very rude and short with me. The name on my exchange receipt is Victoria, I think that is the terrible supervisors name, but I'm not sure of she was ringing on another cashiers log in or not. Every other time I have been to this store including this time it is impossible to find anyone to help you on the sales floor. The ONLY reason I would ever suggest this place is because they have decent prices. I'm not sure if that is worth the headache of dealing with the AWFUL customer service though. read more

2017.05.10 - So called there number to ask a question about inventory. Rang for 5 minutes, no answer. I thought it was the wrong number so called the main store. Operator was very polite and confirmed yes that is the correct number, then confirmed they do not answer there phone. Perhaps they were too busy, I recommended that the furniture store perhaps needs there own customer operator. The main store operator agreed. Asked if the main store operator had access to current inventory. Operator mentioned that they did not. So all around the contact numbers are worthless. You want assistance do it yourself and walk in to ask someone you can chase down to check the store inventory. Not very customer service oriented. It would be nice if the contact numbers meant something. Or even better have inventory tied to you store site. Even Home Depot does that and its only been around since 1978. Navy Exchanges have been around since 1946. Get with the times. Why so harsh a review?...keep reading my other reviews about the furniture stores and exchanges and you will see why. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!! Went in to buy a rug. Took a photo of the barcode description and item number. Went up to the counter and provided the employee with the photo and he showed us what came up on his screen to see if it was in stock. Everything was the same except the color description. We asked if they could confirm before we made a purchase if it was the correct color as the one on the sales floor. He was not able to. Another employee came over and was unable to assist. The manager came over and then told us that we should purchase the rug open it ourselves to determine if it was correct. We asked if an employee could determine this before we made a purchase and they told us no. We pointed out the issue in customer service with that and they still refused to help us. After speaking to them for about 15 min they told us the warehouse was closed and we wouldn't even be able to get the rug if we made the purchase. My husband and I were ready to get a bigger bed. Specifically, we wanted a king, or California king, tempurpedic bed. Our neighbor said she had bought one at the NEX so we decided to check it out and see what kind of deals they had. We walked in and were not greeted by anyone...waited about 45 min, tried out all the beds, found one we liked...still, not one sales person. I finally walked back up to the front to look for some help. A rather frumpy woman finally agreed to help us. It wasn't like she had to sell us on the bed, or do much other than see if the bed was in stock, schedule a delivery and take our money. So, why 2 stars? Well, this simple process took OVER 1 hour to complete. That was on top of the 45 min we were waiting around. Then, we got some good deals because it was a holiday, YAY! 2 "Free" pillows, and a $100 gift card to the NEX. Cool!! Our bed comes a day late, even though we were told, and paid, for it to be delivered on a Sunday. Not mad..whatever...The 2 pillows were a nice touch. I go to buy new sheets for our bed with that $100 gift card, and we were given a card that had already been used, that had a balance of $1.47 on it. WTF? Gee...thanks...lazy woman who's only job was to ring us up, take our money and hand over a gift card. I paid for my sheets anyway, cause I needed them, and thought about calling and complaining but what could I prove? How do you prove a gift card was used by someone else prior to you getting it? You can't. So if you decide to shop here , and are offered a promotional gift card, ask that it be checked prior to you leaving the store.
