I went in for a simple oil change on Tuesday, 11/18, and the experience was completely unprofessional. The mechanic, Willie, was rude and appeared frustrated, tried to pressure me about brakes I didn't request, and repeatedly called me approximately four times back-to-back, even texting me while I was still at the shop -- luckily, I keep unknown callers on silent. They put the wrong oil (5W20 instead of the required 0W20, which is stamped on my oil cap) into my car without asking. I immediately called my usual mechanic, who confirmed that using the wrong viscosity can damage my engine. The oil filter was changed at the same time, meaning it now contains the wrong oil and should be replaced again, but the shop refused to do so. To make matters worse, the owner (I assume) tried to grab my receipt and nervously laughed when I took a picture documenting the mistake. They even left my car running with the windows down after the error was "corrected," creating a safety risk. This shop is careless, disrespectful, and clearly assumes women customers don't know anything about their cars. Women are fully capable of reading manufacturer recommendations and recognizing when something isn't right. I will never return and strongly caution others. I now have to closely monitor my vehicle to ensure it was corrected properly. Willie claimed he was "trying to help," but disregarding manufacturer recommendations is completely unacceptable. For the safety of both your vehicle and your sanity, I strongly advise going somewhere else. read more

The owners didn't ask but I had to leave a review. These guys are amazing, I have a very small leak somewhere in my truck leaking the AC refrigerant. They have looked 3 times for this leak and refilled my refrigerant and only have charged me for one diagnostic. The last 2 times I went in the searched for the leak and couldn't find it still but didn't charge me a bit. They also referred me to someone who did electrical work, who fixed my issue for an absolute bargain. read more

However, the owner was a man child! He would speak loudly on the phone not caring what customers were in the lobby area. He seemed short and rude to his employees. While waiting on the repair, he played video games on his phone with the volume all the way up. It was a horrible experience with him, it was as annoying as having to endure my teenage brother play video games, all you heard was shooting in the game! Robbie assisted me with a power steering and broken handle issue. I brought my car in recently for an oil change at Toyota and they refused to check what the sound my car was making without charging me for the estimate time! I had this sound before and thought it was a power steering issue. I brought my car here and Robbie figured it out immediately what the sound was, which was a piece of metal scraping against my wheel when driving. They fixed it for me in minutes. They also fixed my handle in 20 mins and with the most affordable price in town! Toyota saw the issue and didn't even want to bend the metal back to stop making that sound without charging me and didn't tell me what was wrong. I recommend Robbie and his team to anyone! Armando was so helpful. I called with a possible battery issue and he told me to come over so he can take a look. I expected to have to leave my car or at least to have to wait, but as soon as I arrived he stopped what he was doing and did a diagnostic check on my battery. The battery checked out OK, but he went ahead and cleaned all the connections too, no charge and I was on my way. My ac wasn't cooling and I had it checked out at the Russell & Smith Honda. The dealer told me the condenser of my 3yr old car needed to be replaced and that my ac pipes were leaking. They gave me a quote of $1300 for the repair, but changed to $1100 (Veterans Day discount) when I expressed doubt, and to $930 when I expressed further doubt. I took the car to Nexar and was told the Honda dealer didn't replace the caps properly and that they had drained all the Freon without replacing it. Nexar replaced the Freon for $125 and the ac has been working fine ever since. read more

Great, trustworthy shop! *Note: I signed up for Yelp, specifically to rate and review Nexar. I first started having trouble with my car's wheel's vibrating in Galveston, and one of the only shops open on Sunday was the NTB there. So, I brought my car in there to have them look at it, and they told me I needed a ton of parts replaced on my car, and they were going to charge a hefty amount for it all...so much that I was stunned, couldn't even cry I was so floored by it, and considering selling my car (it's 11 years old, anyway) and replacing it. After driving the vibrating mess 50 miles back to Houston, and a good night's sleep, I decided to get a second opinion. I found Nexar on Hillcroft in Houston on Yelp and decided to have them look at my car. They called me back, and all it needed was a front and rear wheel alignment, which was under $50. I asked them if they were sure I didn't need any parts replaced and they said "No, it just needs an alignment." They fixed my car early that day and had it ready to go when I picked it up after work. Needless to say, I'm super, super glad I found this shop, and I'm telling ALL of my friends about them. They've earned my business FOR LIFE because of their honesty and fast service! read more

They took my engine apart and diagnosed a couple other problems but they were fair with the prices and let me know everything up front. I spent more than I thought but not by that much. UPDATE: This is an update to my review, now that I've had the car for 3 months, the problems are starting. I understand that if you buy a used car with no extended warranty, it's as-is and you're rolling the dice. BUT I will definitely not recommend this place to my friends, cohorts or family members now. Three months is shameful for a car that you paid thousands of dollars for, to act up. I trusted the shop owner and didn't have a mechanic check out the car before I purchased it. I definitely advise any potential car buyers at this place, listen to your gut and have a mechanic check out the car before buying!!!!! This should be done anytime you're purchasing a used car, IMO. I bought my used car here and really couldn't be more pleased. I got a great deal. After much research, I decided to buy a 2008 Toyota Camry. The owner (who sold me the car) was fantastic. He made everything seamless: getting me my plates and sticker, making sure I was good to go during the purchase process. Purely and simply a no-drama car buying experience! Went in before work on a weekday and was able to drive my car to work that afternoon. I've been driving my Toyota for over a month now and haven't had any problems. It drives like a dream. When I went back to pick up my plates, the guys put them on for me and had me in and out in less than three minutes. I was very pleased with the pleasant customer service from all of the employees I had contact with. My family loves Nexar! We first visited Nexar in February for some much needed car repairs. After having to bring my Prius in for recalls a few times I was not so excited about the fact that my husband had discovered that my brakes were in dire need of repair. I drive a lot for work and can't have my car down for long! Thankfully, Robbie was able to fit my car in for the brakes and 150K mile work and my husband's car for....well, now I forget :( Either way, all of our repairs were done and our cars have been a lot happier ever since. All told we had a Prius, Impreza, and Honda mini-van (my father-in-law's) worked on. Thank goodness we have found an honest auto repair in Houston :) Fast forward to this past week.... I got a phone call from my apartment saying that my car seemed to have a flat tire. I was not too excited since I had gotten a flat the week before! I brought the car to a gas station nearby because it seemed to just be low on air. I was told by one gentleman that it could be repaired but I had to report to work. When I came back, I was told I needed a whole new tire (I was not too excited!). I called my husband to ask for advice. He said to bring my car to Robbie. My husband is pretty smart because Robbie told me it could be repaired from the inside and recommended the folks at Tire Maximum a few streets down. Having grown up on a farm doing all my own auto repair and maintence, and being a mechanical engineer proffessional, I'm knowedgeable and capable of servicing my car but am out of town without access to my tools and garage. Prior to coming to Houston I replaced my A/C compressor. Now as the weather is warmer, no cold air. I went to Nexar to recharge with dye. Turns out the new compressor is bad, but under warranty. Nexar worked with supplier to honor warranty and even covers most of labor. It was a paperwork headache for the manager Robbie but he worked with the odd situation and has been very courteous, helpful, and professional as is his technicians. The work they have performed so far has been well done, and timely and at fair price. Having the compressor replaced today, will update post repair. Only reason for 4 out of 5 is I didn't want to sound over the top complimentary, but I really have no complaints whatsover. read more

The blower in my car was broke (aka my air conditioning wasn't working in the Houston summer). When I pulled up to Nexar, a mechanic came right out and asked me to pop the hood after a small chat. He thought the problem was my fan at first because it was moving slow and wobbly (they showed me later what a properly working fan looked like and there was a visible difference!) So upon a closer inspection of my car, they determined it was the blower and did a quick fix, until I could come in for an appointment the next day. Since I came in thinking I had one problem, and they showed me a second (something I dread hearing whenever I need to bring in my car to be looked at). Robbie, the manager, broke it down. He said if I can only do one fix, to fix the blower (not good or safe to be stuck in long, hot Houston commutes with no air). He said since my car wasn't over-heating, that the fan wasn't as urgent, but to be aware that it was eventually a possibility. He didn't try to scare or pressure me into a whole bunch of services. He gave me the prices for both service. I spoke to my husband later and we decided to see how much it would cost to get everything done in one appointment. Robbie gave us a really good discount on the service charge since they would be going in once instead of twice. I would absolutely recommend their services. read more
