Ghosted me after stringing me along about getting a quote and wasting my time with an on-site visit. Communication was good initially and they seemed great when they came out for a quote. Based on that experience I was optimistic about working with them. I didn't receive the quote when I was told I would but things happen so I waited. I got a text saying it would be another few days to get the quote because there were four other quotes ahead of mine and that they were booking a month out. I agreed to continue waiting for the quote and thanked them for the update. Never heard from them again. Paint estimates are time consuming. I took an hour and a half out of my day, during my work day, and fielded texts about scheduling and quote timing after they came to look at the project leading me to believe they were interested in the job only to get ghosted. This is a substantial project with wallpaper removal in several rooms and a full interior paint job and they had the information needed before coming out, including pictures, to just turn it down without wasting my time if they didn't want to deal with it. Even if they decided against taking the project after seeing it in person they could have said so rather than continue telling me to expect a quote. They seem knowledgeable and I see from other reviews they do good work but guess I'll never know. read more

Michael came to bid the project and meet in person, he said all the right things and presented as an experienced professional. He was aware of the age of the home and the lead paint issues it had. He began work and immediately broke contract. There were no tarps placed or daily cleanups , his crews put up shotty scaffolding and no nets, they didn't scrape or clean the home just began filling and sanding and priming. Massive lead dust and chip contamination was spread to the home and yard as well as adjacent homes. Interior where they had failed to seal the windows properly dust was accumulating in the living area of a small child. Michael insisted this was not hazardous and that he would pay for the cleanup. We had a third party come test the site and there was extremely dangerous levels of contamination to the home resulting in the displacement of my family for several months and all of our belongings needed to be disposed of. Michael said he would reimburse us for the hotel fees and cleaning. When contacted by our lawyer to provide his insurance information Michael avoided them and stopped answering communication. His negligence effected the health of a 2 year old child and displaced a family causing over 100k dollars worth of damages and cost of temporary housing. Michael and Next level Painting are as dishonest as it gets and he should be ashamed of himself. No one should do business with them at any cost. read more

Michael and his crew (mostly Shannon and Jose) were great start to finish painting our kitchen cabinets. Michael was always super responsive (texting/emailing even on the weekends) and incredibly easy to work with. He even guided us on the type of finish. We told him semi-gloss, and he suggested we consider satin as it gives a more modern look. He didn't have to suggest anything different from what we said we wanted -- but he did. Uh, thank you! I asked whether our job could be done during a very short window of time, and Michael made adjustments to their workflow to make sure our job could get fast tracked. I also added on a bunch of other small items, and his crew was able to get things done even while being short-staffed. Michael never says "no", and will work with you to get the job done in a way that works for his customers. He does what he says he's going to do, and will make things right if something doesn't go as planned. As was the case when our kitchen cabinets got painted the wrong color. He let us know right away that the colors would get corrected, and his team assured us there would be additional coats if necessary, since the cabinets now had to go from a very dark green to white. Michael and his team care about the quality of their work, were professional and personable, and a pleasure to work with. I hired Michael and his team at Next Level Painting and I couldn't be happier. The job was to do exterior painting and minor repair of my 110-year-old Edwardian to address water intrusion that we experienced during the series of intense atmospheric rivers in Jan 2023. We are delighted with the painting job done by Next Level Painting. We asked them to paint all the wood trim, framing around windows and three wood doors on our West Portal 1930's-era home, which had not been painted for about 12 years, so the wood was peeling and cracking. They also painted a small area of stucco (on the stairway) that had lots of mildew and mossy discoloration as it was always in the shadow of the house next door. They were meticulous about matching the paint for both areas. They used a very low-force powerwash for the stucco, and they washed the wood trim by hand, especially around the windows, explaining they felt power washing might force water through the framing and damage it. The crew arrived promptly (and very quietly!) at 8 am, worked hard all day til 4 or so, then cleaned up, swept up and made things tidy at the end of each day. Jason and Michael (brothers who run the company) and nephew/son Josh were all very friendly and funny, quick to respond by text or phone with questions, and were very concerned to get things right and to our specifications. Very good communicators about everything. Crew boss Jose was friendly and hard-working and managed his team very well. They were somewhat more expensive than other painting companies we got estimates from (but less than others) and well worth the extra price (they have licenses and insurance, an important point for us when working with contractors). Highly recommended for your next paint project! (They also do indoors, so I'm thinking of asking them for an estimate for that, too!). read more

What a great experience. Michael came and gave us the quote. He has great energy and an obvious passion for painting. We couldn't help but like him. Mike and his team painted my entire home this fall, inside and out and did a phenomenal job. The home: A 94 year old structure suffering from years of neglect and in dire need of restoration. We had wooden windows in the house that were glued shut by poor paint jobs of the past, we had hinges and hardware that were painted over that needed to be cleaned. We had uneven plaster walls that needed to be smoothed and walls that were poorly textured, walls that at one time had wallpaper on them, but then were painted over before having the wallpaper removed, and on and on. On the exterior we had holes in our stucco and dry rot around several window frames. Enter Mike and his crew: Mike was great to work with. He's a great person first and foremost, he's honest, and very responsive. He sent a crew out that labored over every inch of the structure for weeks. Every surface was scrubbed, sanded, prepped, primed, painted, touched up, and brought to splendor. Mike's team juggled the multiple colors and finishes we had selected for each room. They removed all door and window hardware to scrub clean the hardware. They made 100% of the glued shut windows operable again and repaired all of the dry rot that existed around the windows. They smoothed every wall and ceiling surface, restored our front door, installed a new ceiling in one bedroom, installed crown moulding where it was needed, replaced cracked glass in a few windows, and more. The crew was the best you could ask for. Every crew member was kind and respectful and they arrived consistently every morning. They were great about cleaning up their work area after each day and taping off sections of the house to minimize dust. We got multiple bids to paint the trim on our 1908 Craftsman bungalow. Michael at Next Level Painting came for the site visit and gave a bid that was not only reasonable, it came with a guarantee of services that were important to us (time to completion, size and experience of crew, quality of work, and an agreement that the job wasn't complete until we were satisfied). Then life happened and we postponed the job for a year. When Michael came back for a new estimate, we were pleasantly surprised that the total barely went up at all. We also included some repairs and and carpentry work to cover up some ugly design mistakes of a previous owner, which were executed perfectly. From the first day we knew we'd made the right choice. Michael and his crew were prompt, professional, and did great work. Since they were already set up and working, we asked how much more it would be to paint the entire house and Michael gave us a bid so reasonable we could not resist. Even though it rained several days during the process and we added to the work, they finished on time, and they addressed all of our "input" (we have strong opinions :) ) to ensure we were completely satisfied. One of the days they were painting was extremely windy and they covered all the cars on our block within 100 yards. When our next door neighbor let us know there was some overspray on their window (a minimal amount--I saw it myself), Michael sent someone to address it right away. I'm a happy customer. Next Level Painting is licensed, insured and carries workers' compensation that protects its workers. These are musts when hiring an exterior house painter. I now know why Next Level comes highly recommended by a colleague of mine. The painters utilize safety equipment and they are a happy bunch, which reflects well on the company. After all, who wants unhappy people working in the place you live in. The pre-work was extensive, detailed and everything not painted was protected and properly covered up. They even switched to manual hand work when there was a power outage during one of the hottest days recorded in the bay this year.
