I rented a car for two weeks from this location. The people there were helpful but it seems there are a lot of rules and such they have to follow. It took longer to get the car then other Next locations. I rented a mid size SUV and got a Chevy Trax, calling it midsize is a real stretch. We have a 2026 Honda CRV and it is much roomier inside. The trax was clean and in good shape but very basic compared to what I have been renting. It had Apple Car Play but no active cruise and no active collision protection. The seats were manual adjust also. The car did well for us as we toured the country. I put 6400 miles on it in two weeks and saw many things with no issues with the vehicle. Tolls in Texas were an issue, Next added a $5 fee to each toll which I felt was steep. They add a $2 toll to any easy pass toll also. It wasn't really explained well to me so be aware. read more

However, upon arrival, I was falsely told my insurance was invalid, despite later verifying with my provider that it was perfectly fine. Because of this, they forced me to pay a total of $860 instead of the original price. When I realized what was happening and asked to cancel the reservation altogether, the staff refused and claimed it was completely impossible to do so. To make matters worse, I have sent multiple follow-up letters and left detailed survey feedback, but the company has completely ignored all my attempts to resolve this issue. Rented a car through Expedia for Miami and prepaid the money. Flight originally scheduled to arrive at 9:30 pm but due to delays it arrived at 12:30 am. Instructions told to take airport shuttle to the rental center. (Surprise- no shuttle) paid a cab $55 for my wife and I. Arrived at the rental center (surprise - no one working). Very scary area. Taxi driver was paid to take us to hotel. In all of this I tried to contact Nextcar. (Surprise- no one available - even the next morning). Their website advertises as 24/7 operation so..... The frustration in this matter is the non-response and replies saying - it was a prepaid booking and can't be refunded (i still don't have the car). Bottom line - don't prepay anything and God forbid - DO NOT rent feom NextCar. Absolute nightmare. It is a complete scam because they essentially make customers buy their insurance coverage as well as nickel and dime things like tolls. When we were in their makeshift office, people had to spend thousands more on a car rental. I rented a car with nextcar via Orbitz. 2 days for 46.82. when I got there, they asked for proof of insurance, which I showed. They stated because I don't have full coverage, they must sell me insurance (about 20 a day depending on the option). I tried to use the coverage from platinum Amex, they also said no. I refused to pay insurance and walked away without a car. Nextcar still charged me for the 2 day rental, even though I didn't use it. Amex dispute resolution concluded they are in the right. I forgot to put it in my wallet before walking out of the house). So, they did their best to get more money out of me for the low rental price. The staff was insulting in so many ways. When I asked why they were charging me the fee for using the debit card, I was told to pay it or leave; other people are waiting. I asked for the employee's name, and he said, by law, he could not give it to me...Bullshit. I understand the hold charge, but $500 is a bit much. He also tried to force the toll prepay option by stating I would be charged $75 per toll passage if I used them and refused to take my insurance. I had to go online to get my insurance card (from my insurance company, not the printed card, but he wasn't okay with that, so I had to show him my entire policy and show him my full insurance breakdown before he rented me the car; never have I had to do this for any other company. All other companies took my USAA insurance card as proof of coverage. Crazy Shit #2! When I returned the car, I received bad customer service again. Once the vehicle was returned, I was not given the option to get a ride back to my hotel or the airport. When I started taking photos of the location and the employee, he said I was being hostile, and I explained that I was documenting my experience there. He got upset and started talking crazy to me. After waiting 1 1/2 hours for the shuttle, I had to take an Uber back to my hotel. I was told my deposit would be returned within 3 to 5 business days. The rental car was returned on November 8. It is now December 8, and my deposit has not been returned. Crazy Shit #3! I have called their customer service number about 10 times and was on hold for 3 hours without reaching a live person. The hold time stated 14 minutes, but again, that is a lie. To date, I have not been able to reach customer service by phone. Crazy Shit #4. If you are reading this testimonial, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I will never again rent a car from an off-brand rental car company. I have owned the travel agency Personalized Services International Travel Agency since 2010, and I have never had this experience, nor have any of my 1000's of clients reported having this type of BAD customer service with a rental car company. I used to rent from them all the time because I grew up with my family renting from NextCar...I hope they go bankrupt and close down. This company makes money not on your car rental but relies on giving you so much trouble that you will cancel the booking and forfeit the paid fees. 10 out of 10 people at the time ended up canceling the booking. I spoke to most of these families and below are some reasons they told me. 1. The rental company has a policy that if you don't pick the vehicle within 1 hours of the booking time, they may cancel and you will need to book again with new price. Note they rent cars for $1/day and if you cannot reach in time, the new price will be much much higher. One of the person was late as he and his family were not picked by rental van for 2.5 hours due to first no van coming and when came it was full. I had to fight with driver to get me in. And so I can understand if this guy was nice then getting to rental office in their free shuttle is very painstaking. 2. I reached in time (exactly after 1 hour wait) and they asked me to buy insurance for $400. Note that my rental was $5 for 5 days and $29 fees for a total of $34. I declined and after that the drama started. They asked me to pull my insurance declaration page. If you know what this is then stay with me as things get worst. Then they find all sorts of bull shit clause to tell me that it does not meet their company policy. I had a $500 deductible and so that would not work. I said my chase sapphire reserve credit card also has insurance and they said it is not sufficient. So I had to forfeit $29 fees and cancel. I am disputing the charge with my card now. 3. This other family amazingly was able to get through all this as he had $250 deductible insurance. But at the end he also canceled as he was told that a temporary hold of $5000 will be put on his card and it would be released after 30 days if there is no toll or other charges. The alternative was to get an Easy pass for $10/day charge and only $2000 deposit. 4. There was one person who was denied as he booked under his wife name and they would not add him as a driver without additional fees. 5. There was another family who had to cancel as the booking name and the credit card that had insurance was different. I can keep going with the list. If you think you can outsmart this company and get a car for $1/day then you will be very disappointed and lose your paid fee amount. They will find a way to cancel. The worst part is that you will lose at least 3-4 hours on this stupidity. Please save yourself with this trouble. This is a very bad company. This was my experience at Orlando FL. read more

This company is a scam...Regret my decision to book which turned out to be worst decision of my life. I booked for $400 online and ended up paying $1200. Let me begin with all the issues : 1) We reached its location to pick the car and waited for nearly 2 hrs to get our car 2) They said only 1 car is available and they are upgrading it so daily $25 extra 3) They said my current car insurance is not sufficient so they charged me $45 per day 4) They gave me Nissan Altima with 1 tyre having less air and when I showed them they temporarily filled it to turn off the warning. But it started coming as soon as we reached hotel and air became very less. So next day we went to mechanic to see if it was not flat tire and he said it is not flat tire but we need to continuously keep filling air daily morning and evening which we did. In all this confusion since we were already out on freeway from Miami to Orlanda we could not get back the car to original location as we were very far already, so I tried to call them, but as expected their phone never works. Noone ever picks phone at customer support, so we had no choice but to keep driving. We drove like that for a week daily filling air 2 times (spent almost $50 on it) and while returning we complained on these issues, but they were just not listening. They said once you take our car outside, we are responsible. 5) After this they charged me almost $8 per gallon for the remaining gas tank which they never told us while taking the car. Purposely they won't tell you these hidden costs. Finally, I wish there was a category to give -5 rating, but since it is not available I had to give 1 Rating. If I could give them 0 I would. My mother rented a car and 1 week and 2 days after having the car it began to shake and wouldn't start. She called them and they sent a tow truck to take the car to the dealership. The next day they called her saying that if the issue isn't an engine issue she would be liable for the damages. Then they said a rodent chewed through the wiring and she was liable for the repair charges. She was concerned that they were taking advantage of her since she is an older woman and she told them that she resided at her current address for over 10 years almost 20 and a rodent has never chewed through any wiring, so it didn't make sense. How do they know it was her and not a previous renter. She mentioned she may have to get an attorney since it didn't seem right. From that moment they escalated her to someone named Mike and canceled her contract. She received an email about the canceled contract and asked them for photos of the damage so she could see what she was paying for. We have yet to receive the photos and today they charged her card $398 dollars on top of two charges of $236 dollars one for the first week and another for the second week. A rental that should have cost around 500 ended up costing her almost $1000. The biggest issue is that we still don't have the photos and no statement listing the charges. We have used NExtcar for many years but this service and lack of communication was terrible. Rent here at your own risk. read more

I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with a recent car rental experience that I booked online for a four-day rental, totaling $129.76. I paid this full amount in advance. When I arrived at the rental counter on May 1, 2025, at approximately 11:44 PM, the representative on duty, Juliana, informed me that her system only reflected a payment of $48. I showed her my confirmation email and receipt clearly indicating full payment, but she refused to accept it. Instead of making any effort to verify my documentation or investigate further, she insisted that the third-party company had only applied $48 toward the rental and that I would need to pay an additional $456.76 if I wished to proceed. After a frustrating and exhausting back-and-forth that lasted until 1:55 AM, I reluctantly paid the additional amount because I needed transportation and was too tired to pursue the matter further. To make matters worse, Juliana also refused to accept my Full Coverage Insurance through New Jersey Manufacturers, which has never been an issue with any other rental company in Puerto Rico. She insisted that I purchase their insurance at $14.99 per day, and I was additionally charged $14 per day for the EZ-Pass, which other companies typically offer for around $2.95 per day. During the discussion, another male employee joined in, aggressively insisting that I had only paid $48. When I asked him not to get involved, he responded with extreme rudeness, saying, "I don't care and I don't want to hear your voice either, but you are going to hear me!" This level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable. Upon returning the vehicle on May 5, 2025, I inquired how much it would cost to rent the same car for one day. A representative told me the cost would be $57.20. I made it clear that I was only asking for information. Nevertheless, I discovered that my credit card was charged $57.20 shortly afterward--without my authorization or consent. This entire experience has been deeply frustrating and upsetting. I feel I was misled, overcharged, and treated with complete disrespect. I have rented cars on numerous trips to Puerto Rico as I travel three or four times a year and have never encountered such unprofessionalism or unethical behavior. I went to do research on getting corporate contact info in a quest to refund my deposit, when I came across countless of Next Car complaints about not returning customers deposits. The Miami location follows some shady practices. We had a reservation for Christmas day after flying in to Miami. The flight arrived around 3pm. When we got to NextCar, we were told our reservation had been cancelled because the 1-hour grace period passed. They pointed out the reservation started at 12pm and so by 3pm the grace period passed. We saw a lot of customers frustrated there, being told the same policy. To me, it's their way to avoid the $50/day rental reserved online ahead of time and instead want you to reserve again through them for $200/day. It's not just NextCar, and I think it's kind of common practice for all the non-brand car rentals there. Yes, I was very disappointed being turned away for some self-made policy on a holiday travel. I've never experienced something like this elsewhere. So need to be careful if you're planning car rentals in Miami. read more

I will never do business with the NextCar business located at the Doubletree in MN. I'll start with the end. I am currently waiting for $500 in erroneous charges to my card be removed. The price was great, the employees were friendly, but the execution was really awful. The rental office was off-site. I called with my confirmation number and name and we had to wait 15 minutes for a shuttle plus a 10 minute drive to office, plus a 15 minute wait to get serviced. The vehicle was not on-site and was not ordered until they waited on me at the counter. We waited another 25 minutes after that, only to get a vehicle that was filthy on the outside and the inside of the windshield had been wiped with a dirty rag (which made driving on 2 lane roads at night nearly impossible). To top it off, the vehicle only had half of a tank of gas. The rep said "just return it with the tank 55% full and it will be fine". This was nearly impossible. This rental was a lesson in getting what you pay for. read more

When I got the vehicle there was lifting in the floor upholstery . This SUV was considered to be a standard SUV, as I purchased through Expedia ( standard special ) deal. However it was not that, it is actually a compact SUV. This rental car company is extremely high in prices for the vehicle to be in such poor driving condition. I could feel every single bump in the road. This was very disappointing and a huge disturbance as my newborn grandson could not stay comfortable during any ride in this vehicle. Also the customer service call center has excellent customer service. I never had any issues with their service, however, the Nicholson Lane location has very horrible customer service. They never answer the phone when myself or the call center tried to reach them and I had two of the most disgusting encounters with the employee there named Abdul that should seriously be fired. He is very condescending, rude, arrogant , discriminative and has no sense of empathy for his customers. He is a liar and after being called out on his lies, he hung up the phone on me without resolving my issue because his shift was over. I will never return to this location again nor will I ever recommend this location to anyone because of this cashiers horrible bedside manner and he does not even have the ability to fulfill any requests without the help of someone else because he does not know how to do his job even after supposedly being retrained. read more

DO NOT RENT CARS FROM HERE. We booked our car and while I was on the phone I triple checked to make sure everything was covered and there would be no hidden fees once we arrived. We arrived and I understood there would be a deposit. however they charged me triple what I was quoted outside of the deposit. I showed all of the emails I had as confirmation and the lady behind the desk barely glanced and said no that's not the right. When we returned the car we spoke with a different rep who looked over the emails and told us we were incorrectly charged and should have been charged what was shown in the emails that we tried to show the previous rep. When we attempted to reach out and send them the document we were denied a refund. I had to dispute it with the bank. Several days pass and they reach out and offer a 15% discount. Seriously!? One star is way more than they deserve. They cancel your car if you're the slightest bit late (coming in from a flight mind you) and they are not helpful or provide any assistance whatsoever. I actually ended up speaking with numerous groups that were also left without car rentals. The company also does not contact you if they cancel their reservation.
