Thought I'd write about service I didn't receive, but in a good way: One morning I dealt with my car battery almost dying. Thankfully a neighbor was able to give me a jump and I drove around the area a little bit. But between that and the wrench light icon lighting up on my car's dashboard, just to make sure nothing worse was going on under the hood, I pulled into Graeves. Even though I didn't call ahead, they were able to slot me in that day and take a look at my car. A few hours later, they gave me a call. Battery was fine (minus some possible corrosion on the contacts, but that could be dealt with on my own time) and the oil didn't need to be changed yet (the wrench light icon I mentioned above). They could've taken me to the cleaners like other auto shops have, taking advantage of my panic, but instead they let me drive my car away that same day, without charging me a dime or upselling me on excess services or parts that I didn't need. Long story short: if you happen to be in Olney, Rockville, or the surrounding area and need your car serviced, highly recommend Graeves, if only because of their honest feedback and willingness to not charge you for minor issues. I can't speak to the cost/value if they did find something serious that needed fixing, but after this experience I'd be willing to come back here if I need it. read more

I usually get my car worked on at Costco but this time my Tesla had a nail in the tire and Costco refused to work on it because the stock tires are insulated with foam. I reached out to some folks on Facebook and they recommended Graeves auto shop. I called them before I went in and they told me that they do work on Tesla stock tires, so I went right as they opened at 8 AM. They were able to remove the nail and plug the hole within 30 minutes and best of all they didn't charge anything. When I asked about the charge, they told me they do not charge to plug tires! I was so satisfied with their customer service and their prompt speed that I inquired about rotating and balancing tires as well. They have earned a customer for life! read more

After 5pm, with a dead battery stranded in a parking lot, a nationwide auto maintenance shop that was across the street had no tow service and said they couldn't do anything. When I entered Graeves, even though there was no tow truck available at that moment, I was driven to my car, where they tested and jump started my battery. Forever fan now. I really wanted to like this place since it's so close to my home and had great reviews. However, I can't comment on their work. I've given it three stars due to my experience while seeking an estimate and trying to schedule an appointment. Chris Gomez initially assisted me and provided a quote, which he wrote on the back of his business card for Michelin and Goodyear tires (see pic). I found this unprofessional and odd, but he assured me it was valid if I scheduled an appointment. So, I went about my day, planning to get back to them. A few days Later, I called and spoke with a gentleman named Dave to schedule the appointment for the tires I was quoted. To my surprise, he gave me a significantly higher price for different tires. I mentioned the lower quote I had received from Chris for Goodyear and Michelin tires. Dave asked me to text him the picture of the back of Chris's card, but I never received a response after that. I was quite disappointed with the lack of communication and transparency regarding the quoted prices, as I had been ready to schedule my van serviced. read more

Good, well run shop. Informed, professional crew. I needed new tires on my half ton pickup, wanted something better than the aged-out Goodyear Wranglers that came with it. Did some Consumer Reports homework looking for high ratings for traction, ride comfort, road noise, tread life, rolling resistance, etc. The guys at Graeves set me up with Michelins that checked all the boxes plus new valve stems, balancing and a four wheel alignment at an honest price. Needed to have my old DC sticker removed, so while in Olney, I decided to stop into Jack and Bobby greeted me with big smiles as soon as I walked in. I explained my need and they jumped to assist! My most recent experience with Graeves exceeded all expectations. I arrived with a "challenging" automobile issue. The problem did not manifest immediately when the car was started. It appeared only after 16 minutes of travel time. The mechanics at Graeves tracked down the problem. Transmission. And suggested that rather than purchasing a replacement and having them install it, that it might be more cost effective to go to a transmission specialist and have it rebuilt. Based on this experience, while I continue to recommend Graeves, I have raised my recommendation of their business from 4 to 5 stars. read more

It's great to find a place that's responsive and you can trust. We've taken two cars there. One for new tires (routine) and once when the car was "dying". It turned out the car wasn't terminal, it just needed some quick stitches. When it didn't cost a fortune to repair AND they were able to return the car the next day, it's just very impressive. I love taking my car (Honda Odyssey) to Graeves, they do a great job in communicating whats going on and they understand you have an income so they work with what you can do and even help come up with a plan. I always get my oil change here and everyone is very professional and enjoys helping. They are honest and I never feel like they are trying to squeeze me for more than what I have. They also have moving trucks you can rent and they have lots of coupons and vouchers. I very much feel like they do their best to give their customers the best deal or find creative ways to give them a good deal. It's been family run for a long time and they care about the customer and are know what they are talking about. They do a good job of meeting the customer where they are at and helping them. Parking could be better as it's limited, but because they do such a good job, it's always busy, call ahead and make an appointment and be prepared to not be with your call all day, they do their best to get it done quick, but they want to get it right as well. read more

I went in this week to have my wiper blades replaced on my 2014 Ford Focus as the one on the driver's side, in particular was worn and we are entering spring which can be a rainy season. While the entire staff was friendly and pleasant as always, Joe actually took my job. When he came in to retrieve the new blades after looking at my car and obtaining the mileage, I tried to explain to him the unique way in which my blades. He did not allow me to complete my explanation before simply and utterly dismissing me-stating that all blades do the same thing and work in the same way. (in other words, 'Lady, I've got this". Helloooo!!! No, they do not, Joe. I decided to sit in my car and respond to emails and texts before heading out to Georgia Avenue. Then I thought to try my blades and Lo and behold, my blades began fighting with each other to free themselves as Joe had improperly installed them. Within seconds the driver's side blade had popped completely off. So, I rang the phone hoping someone was till there or that I could leave a message but to no avail as it was now close to 7:00 p.m. I left a message in their drop box and slid another under their door. But to make bad matters worse, it then began to rain, and I had to creep 3 miles down the road to Leisure World unable to use my wipers at all as with the left blade being completely gone the metal would only have scratched and damaged my wind shield if I had even attempted to turned them on to clear the right/passenger side praying with every second. Thank God, I made It!!! I set my alarm to call them when they opened at 7. When I called, I spoke with Kyle who had found my note when they opened. He came out to properly install my wiper blades. And it was a good thing because I work in College Park, and it has rained most of this week. I asked him to let Joe know that sometimes women do actually know what we're talking about (even a 68-year old senior such as I). I am responding to Kyle G."a (Greaves, I suppose) comment. If you will note, tight from the onset of my review, I acknowledged the courteous way in which you typically do in my previous experiences. I've also acknowledged the fact that you came out the next day to replace and properly install my wiper blades. However, I would consider my having to drive down the road and able to see property because of mechanic ego and stereotypical view of women oh, a lot more than an inconvenience. It put my life in danger!!!. So that is something that I would have to consider before patronizing your business again or recommending it and to all of those of you who have chosen to chime in to defend Graves Auto oh, that is your prerogative. But if you will note I did not attack being business but rather gave my honest review. It was based on facts and facts alone. So while you oh, the general public are certainly entitled to express your opinion it has no bearing on this situation. Needed two tires. Yesterday in person asked if they gave a military discount. Yes. $20 per tire. Not much but it was what it was. Picked up car today, no military discount so the guy reran it. Gave me $20 total. I said that it was incorrect so he had to get "management ". Management said he couldn't do anything about it. Didn't say why but offered a $20 credit in case I ever came back. I declined and won't go back. In summary, cheap and not honorable. Got a reply from Kyle, I guess the manager. He wasn't there when the guy said $20 per tire. So he doesn't know from nothing. He also states that I miss heard. Again, he wasn't there so how does he know what I heard. His attitude is one of in your face. Not friendly. And this isn't the first time I have experienced his I'm right, you are only the customer attitude. read more

I had my oil change done here and like everyone else, was impressed, but this review is about another great customer service. I bumped the AC knob by accident while moving furniture early in the day and it wouldn't turn on anymore. Running errands for the rest of the morning in 90s heat with no AC on is torture, especially with a whiny toddler in the backseat. While pumping gas at the corner, I decided to stop by Graeves for help. I was planning to make an appointment to come back but the gentleman offered to take a look and started fixing it right away, it was done in 5 minutes!!! When I ask about the charge, he even told me don't worry about it. Sorry I was too impressed to get your name but you saved my day!!! Highly recommend this shop to anyone!!! read more

I had a 50-mile trip home when my tire pressure light came on. Graeves was the closest tire shop. When I got there the tire was almost entirely flat. Even though Graeves was very busy (at 2pm on a Monday) they took me almost immediately and repaired my tire in less than 30 minutes. They sent me on my way with no charge (Andrew said we don't charge you for a tire repair)! If I lived closer I'd go there all the time. read more

A light came on in my car this morning indicating that my tire pressure was unstable. I looked at all the tires and they seemed to have equal pressure but I noticed one had a tack stuck in it. I remembered that a child I know had once asked for help at Graeves when his bike chain broke and they were super nice to him so I called Graeves and told them about what was going on with my tires and that I was worried because my son and I need to drive to North Carolina in the car tomorrow and they said, "bring it in now!". So I did and it was so crowded but they still took the time to check my tires and remove the tack which turned out to be a big nail! Everyone there was so friendly and so kind and they charged me nothing! Said it was no big deal and they were happy to help. I give them the highest possible recommendation. I had an appointment to get a motorcycle inspection at another business (took my first motorcycle there years ago) in the morning. Interestingly enough I showed up on time and they told me they were too busy and wanted me to leave my bike for the day. I didn't feel like leaving it there so I looked around and stumbled onto this business which was close to home anyway! I called and tried to make an appointment and the person who answered the call just told me to walk in whenever and they'll be able to inspect it within the hour. I dropped the bike off and conveniently next to it there was a McDonalds, ate an early lunch and by the time I finished they were done. They were able to take me right away and they were done in less than 30 minutes. Looks like they're being pretty safe with Covid, and the waiting room was spacious and clean.
