As long as you understand what urgent care can provide - they are not a full service facility - then I can recommend them highly. Basically, it's a step before going to emergency when you're not sure you need emergency, but you can't get an appointment with your primary care. They are more of a Triage than a treatment facility. Be aware that even if a doctor may be on call or present, it doesn't mean that you're going to get to see a doctor. If you have Medicare, pretty much everything is covered the same way it would be normally. I don't know about Medicaid. You would have to check. The person I saw was excellent. She was knowledgeable, and I appreciate that she gave me a very clear explanation of two possible scenarios for what was going on with me. read more

My visit to Rio grande was to obtain a referral to see an orthotics specialist. I was greeted politely by the receptionist and treated kindly by the intake nurse. When I was seen by Genevieve the provider I felt like she was irritated and annoyed having to deal with me. I told her I was there to get a referral to see a specialist because I needed an AFO ankle and foot brace. She told me that she was unaware of any orthodontics she could referr me to and asked me if I would use my phone to Google one that is like to see. I politely corrected her informing her that I needed to see an orthotist not an orthodontist. I found an orthotist at UNMH and asked them what they needed from the provider as far as the referral went. UNMH told me that they needed a prescription for an AFO and a diagnosis. I relayed this information to Genevieve and she frowned looking agitated saying " I don't even know how to write one of those". I went on to inform her that I also needed a diagnosis. She told me she had no clue how to diagnose me but she would look it up and make the referral. She came back shortly with a referral but there was no prescription and the diagnosis section of the referral was left blank. I informed the intake nurse that the information I needed was absent from the form and I reluctantly requested that she ask Genevieve to correct it. Genevieve came back to the exam room and reiterated that she did not know how to diagnose me. I told her that a diagnosis typically requires an examination (which she failed to implement). I told her that I suffered from hemiplegia causing foot drop and lack of ankle stabilization and no toe movement. She said she would be back with my referral. When she came back the referral was still lacking a prescription and the diagnosis section read 'hemiplegia, specifics unspecified' although I had specified the the specifics. I told her that I felt like the referral did not reflect what UNMH had told me they required to do my intake. Genevieve told me that what she gave me would have to work. After leaving the exam room I asked the intake nurse if she would get me the supervisor. The supervisor addressed me in the waiting room. I asked if she was Becky Gonzales because that name is the name associated with the ownership of this particular clinic. she told me no that she was the supervisor. I informed her of what I experienced with Genevieve and I told her that I was not even examed. The supervisor said in a very rude and disrespectful way, well... You... Got ... What... You... Came... Here ... For ... Didn't... You? I replied that I am not slow or hard of hearing and that she did not need to talk to me in that manner. I asked her for her name but she only replied that she was the supervisor. I asked her if I could have the name of her superior to file a complaint and she told me that she had none and told me that I needed to leave. I asked her who I file a complaint with and she told me that I needed to leave now. When I first went in I also requested a prescription. After I was kicked out I realized that I received no information about my prescription so I had to walk back in and ask the receptionist for that information which was very uncomfortable and embarrassing after being humiliated in front of a lobby full of customers. Id like to note that in no way was I ever disrespectful or rude to the staff at Rio Grande. I felt like the provider and the supervisor were extremely unqualified and unprofessional. And the politeness and kindness I received from the receptionist and the intake nurse were severely overshadowed by the lack of professionalism and negligence that I received from the Genevieve and the supervisor. The doctor was great when I seen her until after. 10 calls from me and 2 from Costco later.... Came to the office and was refused a paper prescription. This office lied to me, called me rude, one woman came out and stood over me VERY AGGRESSIVELY. I have chronic PTSD. She also had on perfume so strong it was walked in the perfume aisle of a store. When I asked her politely and even told her I don't mean anything by it if she could step back because I have lung disease and asthma. She literally laughed at me in front of all the other patients in the waiting area. What she did was wrong on so many levels. After all of this she wrote up a letter saying I was rude and threatening??? And they wouldn't see me anymore. Like I was planning on going back seriously? This place is really bad! They told me I wouldn't get lab results in the same day anywhere else. I went somewhere else and got lab results really fast. I highly recommend to NOT go here very unprofessional. I walked in and waited maybe 40 minutes, they prescribed a medicine and said to go right away to pick it up. But they never called it in. This was a Friday afternoon and they are closed on weekends, so I had to wait to contact them until Monday morning when I was finally able to get the prescription. Duh. read more

I'm not the type to leave bad reviews, but for peoples health and safety I advise against this place. I came in to get some stitches on my arm, I was seen pretty quick but the med tech seemed queezy at the sight of blood. He was talking about cleaning it with iodine but just poured some saline on it instead. The person doing my stitches seemed to have been having a hard time of it and one of my stitches was untied by the time i got home. Once the stitching was done they just sent me on my way no bandage, wound care info or anything. maybe they do a good job with other stuff but wound care is not their strong Suit. read more

Saturday, November 26, 2022: I would rate that doctor a ZERO if I could. I've been sick with, I believe, RSV for over a week. My 2yo granddaughter, who goes to daycare, sneezed in my face. I had every symptom and so did she. After 10 days it went into my chest. My primary doctor prescribed Z-pack due to my phlegm and congestion, but it didn't seem to change anything after 3 days. I'm still coughing up yellow phlegm and blowing green - bacteria. So the women that calls herself a doctor at RGUC told me I had a cold for 2 weeks and proceeded to lecture me on the differences between virus and bacteria. So I asked, what do I have. She says: You have a cold; you only have a bacterial infection when your phlegm is gray or brown. She never once listened to my lungs, checked my ears eyes nose or throat. Nothing. I'm sick. I told her thank you for nothing and she replied, You're very welcome. I walked out without checking out. When I got home I googled What does the color of phlegm mean. 02/26/24 My experience from today was terrible. The provider made me feel worse, like nobody really cared. I've been having minor trouble breathing and pressure in my chest. However, I feel random stinging pains in my right lung. I decided enough was enough and headed to my nearest urgent care. The provider asked me three questions, listened to my breathing, and gave me a nebulizer treatment. After explaining that I still felt pressure and my lung still hurt, the provider told me, "your symptoms are too vague, I can't do anything for you." She told me to go to an ER instead and told me she didn't want to even take any labs or do an x-ray because "it's too late in the day." The week of July 17th, called Rio Grande Urgent care to set up an initial appointment. I was placed on hold a few times, and there were times the front desk rep forgot I was on hold. Understandable, this happens with medical clinics. Finally I was able to set an appointment for Monday July 24th. I attended my appointment and was turned away because I didn't have a paper copy of my insurance card. Keep in mind I wasn't advised that during my initial call. This is an important detail to tell your new patients. Mostly logical people would agree. Nothing was mentioned to me. In this day in age, clinics and hospitals allow patients to use mobile apps to declare their coverage. This clinic doesn't, which is totally fine, but it should be taught to reps taking new appointments. I tried working with the "manager" at the desk, who mentioned she was the only one to talk to. I got nowhere and left. Again, I understand your paper rule, but your reps up front are incompetent and need more training. Where they'll get that training, I'm not sure. I spoke with the "manager of the manager" Dan, or Dave, one of the two. However, same result. Patients take time to make these appointments. Some drive from far distances, take time off work etc. Don't bother mentioning this to anyone there, because they could care less. I could've been seen with what I had, and brought the paper copy back later that day, but I wasn't given any option but to go to the post office to print my insurance card LOL Dave or Dan, loves the word "sorry" but wouldn't offer any kind of resolution, nor was their any responsibility taken for having incompetent employees. I was told by a few peers of mine how great this clinic was, and how much it changed their lives. I also read reviews stating the same, but I also see negative reviews that make more sense of how this place runs business. Not to mention, its a medical clinic, which should be held to higher standards. I did tell Dan, or Dave, that I would be writing a negative review based off of my experience today. He rebutted that he's the one that sees reviews, and will be sure to reply. This tells me this clinic is used to these negative reviews, and prepared to push their own accountability else where. My interaction with Dan or Dave was a waste of time. Once I stated his employees needed more training, he became defensive and started to talk over me, interrupt me. I've never experienced a "medical professional" behave this way, especially over the phone. I'm sure once "Dan or Dave" responds, the story will change. Nonetheless, avoid this joke of a clinic at all costs. If you're seeing a Dr that uses paper format for everything, make sure to ask those questions, because if you're working with an incompetent employee, you'll receive the same experience I did today. read more

It's flu season and went in because I wasn't feeling well, as soon as I walked in I saw 2 woman at the front desk. I stood there for a minute until one of them asked what I needed and if I had been there before. I told them my symptoms and said It was my first time here and that my work sent me here. She asked if I had a physical copy of my insurance card which I don't, I have a picture. She immediately told me that I can not be seen unless I have the physical card and sent me on my way.
