I'm still not a fan of the cancellation policy, but I've discovered that their prices are on par with their competitors, and I love their classes! Pilates has never pretended to be cardio, so while I don't always feel like I'm getting a workout during class, I often feel it after, and I've definitely noticed a change in my body. I find mat classes to be great for core work and equipment classes to be great for "everything else", and I really like going back and forth between the two. The instructors are really good about providing directions that make sense, answering questions (don't be scared to speak up and ask), and making sure you're doing the movements in a way that will help your body and not get you injured. I'm mainly a fan of Desiree and Lija, but I've taken a class here or there from Kelley or Liz and have had good experiences with them too. Class sizes are small so you can almost always get individual attention, but if that's not your style they're okay with that, too. Wherever you are in the spectrum-- between totally out of shape to tight from running a marathon to just wanting more workout variety or core strength-- I'd definitely recommend Functional Strength.

At one point while doing roll ups without cues at all I was struggling to see what others were doing and I actually heard the instructor laugh at me. Then at the end she didn't even ask how the class went, she just said that will be $40 glad I could get you in. I just wish the instructor didn't have the class open to the public or had let me know she wouldn't be doing a lot of instruction during the class because all I heard were the ladies chit chatting and the instructor softly counting in the background. It works for them, but it didn't work for me.

If you're looking for a top notch pilates studio this is the place for you. It is an elegant, spotless, friendly studio with supportive, highly skilled instructors dedicated to helping you strengthen, lengthen and tone. All of the group classes at Pilates Plus are very challenging, but in a good way because you leave the studio feeling amazing and accomplished. The owner, Jess Taylor has been my Pilates instructor nearly 4 years. After more orthopedic surgeries than I care to post, it is because of her knowledge, experience and caring approach to her clients, that I can do absolutely everything that I love to do in a body that is strong and balanced even with all the new parts. She has taught me how my body is supposed to work mechanically and how to optimize what I do and how I do it to keep it working that way. My daughter and my friends have equally benefited from the good that happens working with Jess. So happy she's in the hood now - can't wait to try out all the fun new classes at the Ground too!!

With the new restrictions of COVID, there are some adjustment that have been made for compliance-- face masks required, temperature checks before entering, sanitizing before and after use of the reformers/equipment, individual sanitizers at each station, spaced out reformers & facility occupancy limitations. It's been a great work out with much focus on slower movements for long, lean muscles strength. If you've never tried Pilates with a reformer, you should certainly give it a shot-- all the instructors at this location are very knowledgeable and consistent with challenging routines in their own little styles/personalities. I do struggle a little with the 12 hour cancellation policy for pre registered classes (wish it was 1hr, 6hr max). All in all, I encourage you to try a class if you haven't yet.
