NSF has a great selection with excellent prices. I just purchased my first gun, I couldn't be happier.

However it is still a gun club, at the same location which includes gun/ammo/accessories and gear sales (and FFL transfers). The indoor range equipment worked, there's functional restrooms and friendly staff. I've dealt with a few of the staff and cannot remember the first contact name I had, however most recently I dealt with Bill and he's a pretty good guy. He assisted with a gun buy, and one of the high points is that he's knowledgeable with experience as well; but it's nice that you can speak strictly business with him or get off on a random subject, if you're so inclined. Like speaking to an old friend, uncle or mentor.

Even the pistol course did not follow COVID-19 mandates. When I called to cancel my membership I was told by Bill (no mask) that he and his wife had contracted COVID-19 and could no longer get it. He also could drive across town to the west range to cancel my membership because they did wear masks. I did go to the west range and that was true their employees were wearing face coverings, however 2 of their customers were wearing them on their chins.------they teach and preach gun safety but don't believe in science!!!! They did not refund my money so they don't believe in honesty and fairness with their customers------STAY AWAY----DANGEROUS BUSINESS

I really hate to do this, but…read more.. I've been an intermittent member of DCF since it was Whistling Pines, and I'm sorry to say, I've seen a steady decline in service ever since. It appears they have an issue with high turnover. Every time I go in I see a different person behind the counter. Here are my experiences over the past few months. In May, I used their FFL service after making an online purchase. The retailer contacted me a couple of days after the sale and informed me my order was in limbo because nobody at DCF would get back to her. I had to call DCF to prod them to get back to the online merchant so they could complete the transaction. Then, one morning when I got confirmation the order was delivered to DCF, I called about coming in to fill out the background forms. I got attitude and was told they'd "get to it" - which they didn't. I never got a call, so I just went in the next day. By the time all was said and done, it was an extra WEEK of waiting because of DCF. A month ago I called DCF West to place an order from Sig Sauer and was told the (rather expensive) item I wanted was unavailable. Well, I called Sig and learned otherwise. The item was available to order. They told me to call DCF back and let them know, which I did. When I spoke with DCF regarding their mistake, I was tersely informed that if the item didn't come in by August 1, I'd HAVE to buy it and take whatever requisite classes were mandated by the state. I didn't like the employee's tone of voice, so I went to Scheels and spent my money there. This past weekend, I went to DCF's indoor rifle range to zero two rifles. I've spent time on military, police, and private gun ranges for over 50 years. I know the rules. I get it. One screw up is all it takes. I expect rigid adherence to the laws of firearms, constant monitoring of the firing line, and treat whatever the range master says as the word of the Almighty. So, what's the problem? While zero-ing one of the aforementioned rifles, I shifted the bench out of the way to make an offhand (standing) shot. I was quickly TOLD offhand firing is prohibited on the rifle range. Good enough. Thinking I'd somehow made an error in judgement, I went and looked for anything that would have indicated offhand firing was not allowed. Y'know something like A SIGN. There were none. So, in sum. Their range has rules you have to break to learn about. Their sales department doesn't want to sell you guns, and their FFL is slow and their employees indifferent. Yeah, I'm out.

To start off, you can barely get anyone on the phone and when you do you're put on hold. I sat for over 25 minutes without getting anyone. Hire some help! Next, I finally find out that my purchase has came in so I go down to try it out in the range while I wait, this is the only reason I use them. I was informed today that's no longer allowed under policy. Explain to me why I can't use something that I paid for with a non refundable payment! It was shipped in so how does this even remotely affect them? Who the heck knows. Hey management, you just removed the only reason why I would want to use your extremely slow system for a transfer! Nice job!! Lastly, the overall range. Lead sleds that are barely and I mean BARELY functional. Prices on anything in that store that are easily 20-50% higher than any one else in town. Lanes that are down constantly. It sucks to say cause I really love this place but take your business elsewhere.

They offer the standard basic handgun and concealed carry but also the more advanced personal defense classes. They also offer laser training to help you develop your gun handling in a safe but quick manner and we are booking with them for personal instruction using this equipment. Their classes are small - not the typical 30-40 in a class where you listen but don't learn. Their prices are really affordable and for the individualized instruction and the large amount of personal attention they give, I consider the tuition to be a terific value! They work well with men, women and children! I saw women whose hands were shaking from fear of handling guns walk out like they were old timers in gun safety! It was an amazing transformation. They were Annie Oakleys at the end of class. We are going again for training on Dec. 8. Don't miss this facility for superb training. I would give them 5+ stars if I could they were that good!

They invoiced a half hour of work with the caveat it may take an hour. I was slightly put off by this thinking it couldn't take more than a few minutes. But ultimately I was prepared to pay with the idea that a gunsmith could complete the task without damaging or marring my optic. I dropped it off on a Friday and they said they'd have it ready by Saturday or Tuesday of the following week. Saturday came and went, Tuesday came and went and ultimately I called them on Wednesday. I was told they didn't have the tooling to complete the job and they would need to order the tools to complete it. Later that Wednesday, I received a call from their gunsmith Nick who said he was going to have a buddy help him out so he could have it to me sooner rather than later to which I expressed my gratitude. I showed up to pick it up the following Thursday afternoon. I opened the case and my optic was covered in tape and the guy at the front desk said they'd be charging me for 2 half hour increments of work at $35 per increment. He said that it totaled $90 so I asked if the 2 increments at $35 equaled $70. He said, "yeah $70." I unwrapped the optic and it was operational but marred up more than I would have expected. The guy at the front said he had to take a dremel tool to it. It was obvious the tool had slipped a few times gashing the body of the optic. This kind of work is what I would expect if I had undertaken the job myself but not what I expected from a professional hence the reason I opted to pay someone else for the service. After that I said one thing to the guy at the front desk as respectfully as I could. "Is the price negotiable considering the damage?" The guy immediately threw the invoice on the table, said "just take it" with anger, and walked into the back. I closed everything up and left. When I got home I told my wife and even expressed if they had called me and said, " hey man this thing was a disaster and we put some gashes in the body of the optic but its operational and we got the screw out so even though we were gonna charge you for an hour worth of work we'll charge you for a half hour or give you a discount." I would've been totally understanding. However this was not the case... I can't speak for their other work or services but that was my first and last experience with this business. Hope this can be useful to anyone else.
