The prices have gone up and the quality of services have gone down. I have been going elsewhere for my mani & pedis.

I've been coming here for 10 years! The OWNER is so rude and money hungry! She does not care about her clients that have been coming for years and spend money. I love my nail tech Kim. I got my nails done on Thursday and by Saturday night I had two chips I'm very busy and couldn't get in the salon until Sunday afternoon but the salon was closing at 4 and I arrived at 3:50. The owner had the lights off and told me they have to leave and couldn't fix my two nails. I came back the next day (Monday) after work because I don't have time during the day I have a full-time job. Mia (owner) told me I should come back on Tuesday since my nail tech will be there because she was not there on Monday. (which she specifically told me Sunday to come back the next day) Mia ended up fixing my nails but I realize the color I wanted originally wasn't what my nail tag put on me which is an honest mistake. Therefore we couldn't match the color but it was really close so I asked if she can just go over the other Nails she said she will charge me $10 I have $10 it's not about the money it's the fact that I've been coming in for 10 years! I told her to just fix the two nails and she let me walk out of her own salon unhappy!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately another nail chipped on Wednesday while I was at work and I only sit at a desk and type on the keyboard I don't even put my hands in the water. I get out of work really late so I arrived at 6:55 to her salon which they close at seven but three different places it says 8 PM and 7:30 PM including Facebook so it's just very confusing and unclear. Besides the point that I've been coming for over 10 years I thought maybe she would do me that favor as an owner!!! She turned me down again and told me to come back 5th time tomorrow , I will never go back. I will definitely miss Kim. To be treated like this by an owner that does not care about their clients it's a big disappointment. I believe the owner mixes something in the product or it's just expired because this has not happened with every color and brand Kim does a great job I never ccomplain before, but an owner not to care for her clients to be happy it's a disgrace. I went to Nia's Modern Nails on October 23rd for the first time and I went for a fill in,and  to repair a nail with Tina . I asked for black matte and not even 24 hours later the paint came off and a nail broke. I called back and went the next day, and Nia fixed all my  Nails. Here we are 6 days later and all my nails broke off. I am super pissed and will never come here again. What a waste of $35 dollars it was. The point of me wanting black nails was for Halloween and it didn't even last me until then. read more

I am still impressed with Nia's and the salon offerings. After a hiatus, I returned to familiar surroundings. When I walked in, little had changed. Still neatly organized and welcoming. My first visit back was on Sunday and they were comfortably busy but Nia took me right away and whipped my thick and dry cuticles into shape! I left with my hands and a beautiful color. Admittedly, I left the salon thinking about the color I would get next time. Nia's has a massive no chip polish selection. One that blows away any salon I have ever visited. During my most recent visit, Valentine's Day, the salon offered customers mimosas in the morning and chocolate covered strawberries In the afternoon. How is that for fancy? .... I found it to be a very nice touch. Finally, there is something to be said about family members who successfully work together every day. Most of the staff members are family which makes for a close knit and laid back environment. The perfect set up for a day of maintenance, pampering or relaxation. read more

"OMG I love your nails where do you go?" Besides compliments on my hair, that is one of the most spoken sentences ever said to me. Everyone always asks me where I go to get my nails done, and this is where. I have been going to Nia's salon for about 15 years. It is a family own salon and everyone there is so warm and freindly. Nia is very dedicated to her salon and it shows. She is always changing the feng shui in order to keep things fresh. She also continues with her extended education along with the rest of her staff, in order to keep up with the latest techniques and trends. Part of the reason why I love going here is that it works really well with my busy last minute schedule, and I am almost always able to get in when I need to. Going there for as long as I have I feel like part of the family. Nia has daughters that work there as well (Madison and Madeline) that are around my age and I've gotten to know and love them. I often get massages from Madison, she is so strong and is able to get all my knots out from working in the salon and playing roller derby. Madeline does amazing nail art, she is always able to acheive anything I ask her to do. I could just go on forever but i'll let you make your own decision by trying it out yourself. Update: got a no chip mani from Madison and it's been 20 days now... No chips! Only going back today because the nails have grown out by now... Manicures this great are hard to come by! Being a mom of 2 little ones, your hands and nails take a beating. They never look great unless you get them done... But I've never had them look this amazing for this long except for at Nia's! Love this place. Even my daughter (5 y/o) loves the ladies here. Friendly, happy, and fantastic at their craft. I got my nails done Nov 3 by Nov 5 my nails had already chipped. I went back Nov 7 to get my nails redone which was unpleasant(total of three chipped nails). As a customer I guess you have to be responsible for taking a picture of the color. I looked in three bins and was not able to find the color. When Nia finally decided to help me she looked beyond annoyed she suggested I take a picture the next time I get them done. I was a bit confused as to why I was getting lectured about my nails being chipped. I paid $30 for something I could have done at home. By November 10 my nails are chipped once more. I have gotten no chip in the past and they've lasted longer. I've come to realize I should have asked for a manicure instead. read more

First time here, decided to try it out after reading reviews. It was slow for a snowy sunday, only 4 workers. My friend and I had to wait about 20 minutes. One person did my fill in, she was good. Got nicked with the drill at my cuticle, not biggie due to I have think cuticles. An older lady polished my nails, she wasn't too great. had to do some spot touching and 3 layers of top coat on my right thumb nail. not to mention clean up on my cuticles. Overall my experience was amazing. I was greeted right away, taken care of right away and recieved some much needed TLC. Nia was the one who did my nails today! She was very polite and professional throughout the service. Today they had a $44 special for basic pedicure and a full set. There's more specials every day for their many services they offer, so I would definitely call and ask. Their polish selection is very impressive, especially their no chip polishes. Only reason for 4/5 stars was that the nail polish application wasn't great. I do try and pick the newest and smoothest formulas to ensure a great finish. But I could tell the polish was older since I'm sure I saw her put something in the bottle to better the consistency for application. Again for the deal I was getting, it's no big deal to me. I really love this salon. It's become my go-to since it's close, affordable, and there's usually not much of a wait. If it's a Friday evening then I'll call ahead to make an appointment and there's only been one instance where I needed to wait a significant amount of time, even with an appointment. I try to come in when I'm not in a hurry, so it's not a big deal. I pretty much exclusively get pedicures since I do my own fingernails to save money. They give a great pedicure and they are one of the more thorough places when it comes to ingrown toenails. On the rare occasions when I've had my hands done, they've done a really good job. I only get the basic mani-pedi, so I can't speak to their acrylic nails or no chip. They have a wide selection of colors from OPI, China Glaze, and a few other brands. I'm not sure how often they update their inventory, but I did see they had some of the newer colors from OPI recently and it's nice to see they keep up with the trends. read more

The staff is amazing with their flexibility, talent and desire to make every experience a wonderful and relaxing time for the customer! Equipment is brand new and staff is so professional! The worst set of nails I've ever gotten. Nia, the owner was the one who did my full set. I showed her a picture of what I wanted which was a French tip. She cut me several times with the nail file and nail drill. She was on the phone for most of the time. I asked her a question twice she didn't hear me. Her daughter across from us had to ask again because she noticed her mom wasn't paying attention. She kept cutting me in the same spot so I kept pulling back and she kept telling me to relax. The French tip looked sloppy. The nails themselves were bulky and uneven. She left the bottom sides of my nails super sharp. I told her I wasn't happy with my nails and she said she I should've told her I didn't want my nails that bulky! She said I should've gotten another service (which was pricier) done so they wouldn't be bulky. I told her I've gotten the same dip service done at other salons and they have never came out the way she left them. And I also never had to tell them not to make them so thick. I paid and left but I was so unhappy with them that I went back in and asked for a refund. She said she would fix them for me but one: I didn't have time anymore and 2: I'm going out of town so I can't come back tomorrow! And 3, she cut me so bad I wouldn't want her to touch my hands again! She refused anyways. I came home to file them so they wouldn't be so sharp. They have a great selection of nail polish a lot of different woman who are good at different things. I've had to pay different prices for full ins even when I have the exact same thing done. There was also a woman whom I will ever let touch my nails again! , hurt me a couple of times and the was a dent in my nail. When I left here that day I realized it was the worst manicure I ever had. I had a pedi done first and I was getting the gell removed from my nails so they could grow out after three fill ins. I understand she could have been tired or it was hard maybe getting the gell off but she really effed up my nails. So now I am trying a different woman. The prices are high for average or below work. I'm going to try a different beat by place if I don't like my results this time. Tina did my nails today she took her time and didn't hurt me or push any thing I didn't want on me. Was recommended to come here and I'm not happy with my nails, or my experience. I called ahead and asked if there was availability to get an acrylic set and a pedicure and the lady said yes. I walk in and she puts me at a table asking what color i want -rushing. I told her i had an idea but wasn't sure. I was looking for a silver shiny holographic type and instead she can only find silver glitter. Instead of pushing my cuticles back she grinded then back..my one hand the nails are flat and my other hand they are more bubbly and curved. I wasn't happy but i needed something done for the up coming day and had to be at work within an hour so i just excepted my fate. Lady who did my pedicure did my toes ok. Not much pressure when run my feet, which i guess i might of just expected from previous salons. She didn't say anything to me until i had to pay. They do not put tips on card transactions. There is also no sign that says cash tips only (in my old neighborhood that's what salons had when they couldn't take it via cards) I'll stick to my previous salon. read more

Yikes. IDK where these positive reviews are coming from but I would recommend AVOIDING this place. 1. Came here 3 days ago for a regular mani with a friend. I had asked for almond shaped nails, and my technician (older lady) flat-out said no, round would be better. Well, I wanted almond, and asked again... she still wouldn't do it. I ended up settling for oval. (BTW my nails were long enough to make the almond shape work) So, not a great start. 2. My cuticles require TLC and I usually love how detailed nail technicians can be, but that was not the case here. She rushed through grooming my cuticles, seemingly bored and inattentive. My mani was finished about 10 minutes before my friend's. We started at exactly the same time. That just goes to show the difference in a carefully executed, professional manicure VS whatever the hell I ended up with. (That being said, my friend was unhappy with her mani as well...) 3. My polish had a rough, bumpy texture. She only applied 2 coats when the sparkly, metallic polish would have looked way better with at least 3. While painting my nails, one of my fingers bumped her hand and smeared the polish. Instead of taking an extra minute or two to try and make it look better, she scolded me and globbed another bit of polish right over the badly smeared nail. Overall, the mani looks really messy and is already chipping/fading. The shape and length are not consistent AT ALL. I can repaint the polish but I can't fix how my index finger on my left hand is significantly shorter than the rest of my nails. WHY. SO FRUSTRATING! 4. Lastly, I question the cleanliness of this place. The instruments used had not been ultrasonically cleaned. I did not see an autoclave anywhere in the salon. Throughout our appointment, employees were lounging around the salon, eating. While our nails were drying, I saw my technician dump out her little bowl of water into one of the pedicure foot baths. SO GROSS. TL;DR: I could/should have done my own nails at home with far better results. Don't bother coming here. Take your chances (and your money) elsewhere! read more

So 3rd time's the charm? I've been to this place 3 times now. Every time I leave, I love the work but they don't last more than 4 days. I get the normal nail polish done and take precautions while washing dishes and all so that they may last longer. The 3rd time I went to this place, the lady refused to change my toe colors once she was half way there since I didn't like the color on me. I had to do different colors because of that for my toes and my hands. My toes color is still intact but my hands, I had to remove the color in 4 days since it all started coming off and my nails looks like they weren't even cleaned (dead skin and cuticles) since a month. Once she was done with my full set acrylic with a simple white color on them. I asked her for the total she said 36$! I had to wait 30 minutes--with my feet soaking in the whirlpool tub. That is my fault as I neglected t ask how long the wait was going to be when I got there. What is not my fault and why I have to give them one star (ZERO if I could), was that I had to ask my tech to wash her hands when she came to work on my pedicure after finishing up with another client. Now that I'm a grown up (or so I like to think), I appreciate that this place has grown with me, they've doubled in size and gotten much classier inside. And I met a new friend, Terri, she and I clicked right away when she did my pedicure and I can't wait to see her again. I've been coming here for as long as I've been living in Addison (13 years), and I've NEVER liked another salon better. I wasn't loyal to just that salon at first, I've tried my good share of salons. However, a while back I had one of the owners (Madeline) do my nails. And she's been the only one to touch them since! She's AMAZING at what she does, and you can tell she loves it. I recently went to Nia Modern Nails Salon when I needed to get a no chip manicure and a pedicure for my sister's wedding. My sister and I scheduled appointments over the phone and when we arrived the day of we were taken care of immediately. One of the nail technicians, Madison was the one who did my nails and she did a great job. She didn't speak in a difference language throughout my whole appointment and was friendly. She's also the person who does their massages and i'm debating getting one. My nails looked great for the wedding. I do suggest that you schedule an appointment if you can, lots of customer's were calling in to book their appointments with the owner so it can get busy. This would be my 3rd visit to Nias and I am very dissatisfied. I made an appointment and was not seen on time I understand it's Saturday and you guys get very busy but what's the point of making an appt. if the walk ins are seen before me?! This isn't the first time I've had to wait waaaay past my appt time either. I always ask when a good time for them is SO I DONT HAVE TO WASTE MY TIME WAITING. Walked in on a whim, it was two doors down from the hair salon I just tried. I figure I'd give this a place a shot too as I was trying all the new places today. I went in because I needed my no chip manicure removed. The lady got me started and buffed the top layer and soaked in acetone and aluminum foil - I didn't catch her name. Stella finished taking it off and did a phenomenal job. I like that she was able to answer my questions and finished off my nails with a quick file expertly. I had red polish on and all of it came off. She was careful not to overbuff the nail. I was very satisfied with the service. I don't usually submit negative reviews but am very disappointed with the quality of my most recent no chip manicure from this salon. I have frequented this salon on and off over the past 7 years but last week will be my last manicure from this salon. First of all the nail tech sliced my cuticle with a nail file and caused it to bleed! She didn't even apologize for hurting me.(it became infected and hurt for days!) Also, It appeared that the instruments aren't sterilized after each client. I've observed that most salons sterilize and individually pakage the instruments, for each client, but this is not the case at this salon. Bottom line I paid 35.00 (5.00 more than the average charged by most salons in the area). I even tipped 5.00 so the total was 40.00! Unfortunately my nails started chipping 4 days later. Typically my no chip manicures last 2-3 weeks if done properly. This no chip was obviously not "cured" or executed properly. A waste of my time and money. I suggest going elsewhere. read more

Update : Now not only are my nails all crooked and polish looks terrible. Now all the polish is chipping off, and my nails are all cracking because they did such a terrible job. I loved going to Kim before but my last nails were just awful. She charged me $60 for no chip gel nails and just few days later bubbles showed and I could literally peal off the gel . I also strongly believe they charge each client differently. read more
