There is one lady at the check out that seems short and unfriendly. Older lady, dark hair. She behaves like she is annoyed at having to check out. I changed my mind on one item, and she was agitated by it. The lady behind me felt the same way, because she hesitated before making up her mind, as she was putting her stuff on the counter. WOW! In a bad way. The prices are super super expensive. You think you'll get good prices as it is a second hand store but NO!!! Super expensive for the quality. I did not check out the clothings as much as I was looking for furniture, kitchen, and other home products and I could not believe the prices! I am a thrift lover and this place blew my mind. A USED vacuum was $78... I can go on Amazon and buy a new one for that price. I could buy the brand new one for $99... a side table... $35 a coffee table $55... again.. I can go on Amazon and buy a new one instead of the ones they had... and I know what you think that maybe it was a nice piece of furniture.. but no.. they are basic used furniture... not close to being worth the price.. and for the clothing. I did see some prices but the only good deals were the clearance items and the kids. I would not thrift there again. read more

I get that thrift stores are tired of selling cheap items, having people buy them and resell them for a profit on eBay or similar. But pricing everything more than it cost new is not the answer. $125 for a used men's suit that hasnt been in style since the 90s? $30 for a frayed hoodie? $20 for basic lamp? It's cheaper to shop at Walmart or Burlington. They have a decent selection of items, similar to most Goodwill stores. The staff I have dealt with have been kind and helpful. It's just the prices. Caveat, I have not looked for women's or children's clothes, just men's and housewares. read more

Firstly I agree their staff is not friendly at all. When asked a question about an item I felt like I was "inconveniencing" them.. I only visit this store honestly no more than twice a year..the hours could be better in my opinion.. It surprises me they close so early especially because of their location so close to walmart & other rib mountain places..I know I would be more likely stop in more often if they were open longer. Lastly the prices...I honestly feel they are way high ..especially for the condition of some of the items (dirty baby clothes) .. alot of the 'name brand' (AE, Aeropastle, A&F, Holister) items seem to be even more pricey.. you could just as well go to the actual retail store and buy the same exact shirt/clothing article or something similar for much cheaper! All in all ehhh I don't go out of my way or make an effort to shop here and unless changes are made and staff become friendlier I doubt I will. read more

I didn't have any issues with the staff here, in fact, the young girl at the register was very nice and personable. The only issues I do have is they just have TOO MUCH STUFF. They'd probably get rid of stuff a lot quicker if they kept some stuff off the shelves. I was browsing for some size 6-9 month rompers for my daughter and gave up because it was impossible to look through the racks - so tightly packed on the rods! They do have an excellent amount of baby gear and toys. I walked out of there with a $17.00 worth of toys in great shape! I just don't have it in me to pay full price for baby toys that she'll out grow in a couple of months. They have plenty of easy to disinfect stuff there at very reasonable prices. Their books, however, I do find to be quite over priced. I would have bought some if they weren't in the $2-3 range a piece! They have a nice selection of baby carriers, bouncers, bath tubs, linens and a ton more. I don't know about adult stuff, I specifically went there for baby items. They're pretty good for that if you're willing to wrestle the racks. What I managed to pull out to see prices on were OK and priced somewhat decently. I just won't spend $4.00 for something used that I can get brand new on sale at Old Navy, etc. for the same price. I think they need a more in-the-know person pricing their stuff because they're way off base on pricing some severely outdated looks. They did have some decent baby shoes, but again, kinda over priced for the quality of some of them! Three stars alone for the quality and quantity of baby toys, carriers, gear and such. read more

I like to use Nice as New to sell some very good items we don't use anymore. I live in an area that is hard to have a garage sale. It is an ok consignment shop. I purchase books there, but I feel searching for clothing is just that... searching. It is so full of things that is just overwhelming. If my children were little again, I know I could find some great pieces. Sometimes I don't understand when they reject your item to sell. Sometimes they take stuff I am sure they would reject, and other times they reject stuff in excellent condition. I never take it personally, but I see many people that do. read more

I personally didn't notice the staff being rude, in fact a man said hello as soon as I walked in, and a woman behind the register complimented my daughters hair. I would say that their prices are hit or miss. Some things their basically trying to sell for brand new prices. But then again I saw a few great deals, so I'd say take your time and look around. Pretty reasonably priced and good selection of items...especially when they are running a special deal that day. Staff leaves much to be desired. Not very helpful or friendly. One time I was 'reprimanded' for taking more than 10 items in the dressing room and there were seriously no customers in the store. Second instance I was accused of returing a coat that they deemed as 'soiled' even though that is how they sold it to me and my daughter never even tried it on. The item was returned 20 hours after I purchased it. I didn't realize I needed to take pictures of my merchandise prior to leaving the store as proof of condition if I later wanted to return something. Many more stories of bad service, but I think you get the picture. I can't believe they were nominated as a 'small business of the year'. ...I guess I really hate shopping there due to the poor customer service. But again, the merchandise is vast. Every time I visit this store, I walk out wondering if it was truly worth my time to go there. My biggest gripe is the inconsistency in quality of items they take in, and their prices are way out of whack. While in the store recently, I over heard an employee giving a new prospective consignor the "rules" of what types of items they will and will not take to be sold. (I.e., items in style within 3 years, good condition, no stains, fabric pilling, holes or tears) I almost burst out laughing out loud after overhearing this as 5 minutes earlier I had looked through the boys pants and came across a pair of boys Gap track/athletic pants with the bottom hemlines absolutely shredded, that they had priced for $8.75. Um, no thanks. I have absolutely no problem with the staff declining to take items due to undesirable quality, but the key here needs to be consistency with ALL intake staff. It's irritating when I try to bring in a sweater to sell with literally a spot the size of a sesame seed (cooking oil spatter stain?) and it's not accepted to consign, then in the same visit, I find a pair of women's jeans on the sale floor that have a hole in the crotch sewn together with dental floss, and a pair of white women's shorts with blood stains on the underside of the butt area. read more

The staff is EXTREMELY rude. I stopped in to make an appointment and the person behind the counter made it sound like I was inconveniencing her as she stood there and did nothing. I think the customer service here is horrible. First, I was treated like an annoyance for asking them to look up my account as I was making a purchase on some items. I had the wrong account number and the lady made me feel like it was the worst thing ever that she had to type something more than once. Second, one of my items was not priced, which, is not my fault. I kindly asked how much this was as I wanted to buy it. I was told, very rudely, she would have to go look up the item and this could take quite a while, almost like she didn't want to do this. Isn't the goal of a business to sell things? The selection of kids clothing was so/so. Some things were reasonable priced for their condition, others you could find for the same price brand new. Some of the name brand things they have are way over priced, just because it's brand name. I have taken some things there before, and some of the items they rejected seemed a lot nicer than many of the things they have at the store. All in all, there are a few other consignment shops in the area that I would much rather give my business too! read more

The staff is not friendly - I've been a customer for a long time and they never smile or show any sign that they recognize you. Sizes are not well marked - very hard to tell how they have items grouped. The Stevens Point store is much more friendly and sizes seem better organized. read more

I do like Nice as New as far as their tag sales on certain colors. It would nice if they would offer a punch for every $5 or $10.00 you spend on a more regular basis.
