It was really good...the flavor was robust and you could really taste the quality. They've got cups to-go as well as actual ceramic cups for people who'd like to sit around and enjoy their coffee/espresso. The staff here is AWESOME! Coffee was OK, kouign amann was so bad. Pastry was dry and the "caramelized" part is just a disk of hard crystalized caramel gathered at the bottom. Nice Coffee just opened a little while ago and finally got to try it! It's in the City National Plaza. They revamped the whole area, so it's a really nice place to just sit, chill, and enjoy some coffee & donuts. I had a hard time picking out which donut I wanted to try, but the lady there was more than happy to go through all the different flavors they offered! I think she said the blood orange cake donut is one of their more popular ones. I opted for the regular brioche donut ($3.45) and I really liked it! Sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet. Five Stars in nearly every category. I am in Downtown LA for work for 2 weeks and luckily I found this place day two of my travels. Since I found it, I've come here every day before work. I will break down the rating into sub categories. Location: 5 Stars +. Located right next to a water art piece and in the center of all the business complex, I could not think of a better location. It is very peaceful hearing the water poor down the art piece as you enjoy a morning drink or pastry. Service: 5 Stars! The service is amazing. I've tried a donut (donut remember which, this was last year), and an espresso as of late. Donut = I remember this being a frickin darn good donut. Moist, sweet, and yummy. Espresso = probably the best espresso I've literally had. You can actually taste the notes/flavors of the beans, perfectly poured/strained. Typically espresso either tastes bland, watery, and/or burnt but the one I've had here was delightful. Each one I've tried--and that's almost all of them--was a perfect start to the day. It's delicious! Super flavorful but not too sweet. The cornbread provides a good balance. The only drawback of this place are the prices. The scone is like $4.75 and the coffee isn't cheap either. While I was staying at the InterContinental, I was happy to get my coffee fix from Nice Coffee. This little stand is located in the courtyard of the City National Tower. In addition to a range of coffee drinks, they also serve pastries and other baked goodies! I LOVED the Jamaican scone. Definitely a great option for grabbing something on the way to work. read more

Working on Figueroa means the vast amount of amazing coffee places in DTLA are just out of normal walking distance on your lunch break. Nice Coffee helps fill the coffee desert on this side of downtown. The espresso is on point and you get a side of TOPO FUCKIN CHICO! Replenish yourself with that dope ass mineral water. The Friday breakfast burritos are so out of this world, I heard Jesus Christ wraps up those bad boys himself. Praise be. Legitimate suggestion though - I think the drip coffee is a little earthy for my taste. I liked this coffee stand. There are not a lot of third wave coffee shops in walking distance so I was glad to finally find a spot for a decent latte. While there is a starbucks nearby that is at a slightly lower price point, I like supporting small business and benefiting from the individual customer service. Although they were dealing the best they could with the 9am breakfast crush, they were doing their best to serve with a smile and even the manager was hands on to help facilitate faster service. The coffee itself was great and immediately good drinking temp and the ham/cheese croissant with a gerkin on top was a nice (albeit pricey) start to the day. I'm not sure what they do to the beans or how they pull the espresso but it is very very strong and highly caffeinated. So for caffeine fiends, you are most definitely getting your monies worth. The whole place is outdoor, like a little pop-up between two tall office buildings, so not a good place if it's chilly and you want to stay a while. As the name implies, the staff is incredibly nice here. I try to stop by whenever I'm in the area based in large part on the hospitality. They use parallel 49 beans and offer the standard drinks you would expect at any third waive coffee shop. They do not do pour overs but the filter coffee is always very good and they pull a very good espresso. If you are hungry they have pastries and sandwiches every day. The best days to come for food are Thursday when they have donuts and Friday when they have breakfast burritos. If coming for a burrito come early because they only order a limited amount and they do sell out. read more

Great ambiance and ample seatings for group outings, dates, meetings etc. Located in the courtyard between Paul Hastings and Citi National, I think this plaza is the most relaxing and largest in FiDi. Parking is difficult if you're not parked for other reasons already. There are some metered parkings on 5th street going toward Grand alongside the library. I'm obsessed with the hot vanilla latte and I prefer hot rather than iced. The iced latte is more diluted, for obvious reasons. HA! Whole cow milk only. There's a range of pastries (donuts, croissants, muffins, cookies) and sandwiches available but options are limited by 10 AM. You can earn loyalty points if you pay by card. I think you get a free drink after 10. The only con is that they close early, 3PM, but I guess I may be one of few who drinks coffee this late! read more

Right in the mix of things. . . When I saw the gleaming Strada machine and the baristas wearing designer aprons amongst the suits and ties, I knew the moment had come. Hipster coffee has come to my office building! The location and setup is great. The whole place is open to the sunny LA breeze, so you can have your coffee and Vitamin D as well. The baristas are friendly and keep the sizable line moving and manageable. The coffee is only so-so though. Maybe its the rush of the crowd or the assumption that my besuited cohorts might not appreciate good coffee, but the cappucinos and macchiatos that I've had here were only distinguished by the fact that they didn't taste Starbucks burnt. A good start, but I didn't get the subtle notes that I have come to expect from hipster coffee. That won't stop me from coming back and hoping for a different result though! read more

Came here after hearing lots of small chitter chatter about how good this place was! I stopped by a little before 1:00pm on a weekday to grab some coffee. It's an outdoor shop, open to the air, kind of like a bar style coffee shop. They have the basic coffees and you can order them iced or hot. They even have a display case of baked goods. If I'm not mistaken they have more savory lunch type dishes, too. When I got there, there was only one person ahead of me! I took a look at the baked goods and they looked delicious - 2 specifically caught my eye. When it was my turn to order I asked about them both...one was a croissant baked with glazed sugar and white miso (the barista/cashier said that was one of the best) and the other I asked about was the horchata with rice puffs. I couldn't help myself and ordered the croissant one and a vanilla iced coffee. First of all, the white miso sugar croissant was AMAZING. I am so glad I ordered that because it was unique and delicious. The vanilla iced coffee was also extremely good. It wasn't too sweet and the coffee was so smooth!! It wasn't necessarily cheap ($4.50 for my coffee and a few dollars for the pastry but TBH worth it!) All the baristas are pretty attractive men lol and also very friendly - adds to the modern hipster vibe the coffee shop has. The service was really great, the cashier was patient and thorough in answering my questions and called me by name. Food and coffee was excellent and wait was short! I will definitely be back and will bring some friends next time :-) read more

Here for the first time. It is outside the City National Bank in the plaza. It's outdoors so bring some sleeves like a light jacket if it's in the fall/winter. It was super breezy today so it was chilly. It sides between large tall buildings so there is not s lot of sun. What's cool about it is that is has doors that lift open and shut like a garage door depending on why the weather is doing. So it can create shade or in this case, block some of the strong Santa Ana winds today! Very cool. I did not order food but just had a small regular cup of coffee and cost me $4! That's kinda high for a small regular coffee, was expecting it to be like $2. No fancy stuff. Because it was so chilly today, you think they would make it a little bit more affordable. But I suspect because they are in the business district here, they can hike up the price. I saw they offer specials and food if you want a quick sandwich etc. They also have a start points rewards program which is good if you get coffee here often. Most people who work in these buildings probably take advantage of that. I had never heard of the brand before "nice coffee". Thought to try it. Excellent coffee but extremely difficult location to get to unless you walk or work in one of the office bldgs nearby. I probably should have read all the reviews before coming. 1) Parking is extremely difficult. Yeah it's downtown so parking is tough but where this coffee shop is located there is no street parking for blocks. You have to pay for one of the bldg lots nearby. I made this mistake and it was only all day for $12. Horrifying. Not sure where you would park. I guess underneath the bldg but then as I've read from other reviews you need to buy something at one of the restaurants. Thus the reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5. 2) Yep no donuts. I saw the photos on yelp and really wanted to try these donuts but I guess they stopped making them. As others suggested though the cin roll is really good. I agree. One of the best cin rolls I've had in LA. Soo gooey and not dry, which is what I find a lot of cin rolls to be. The best part is they offer 49th Parallel Coffee and not just one or two blends. There is a huge selection to buy from. Coffee Commissary sells 49th but just one or two blends. Also as others commented the vanilla latte is fantastic. Again I think cause they use 49th, their espresso is not bitter and too bold which translates into their lattes being perfectly balanced. In terms of Downtown coffee shops, this is probably slightly better than Nossa and probably one of the best downtown. I would love to come here again if the parking situation wasn't so bad. They definitely live up to their name! Everyone I've interacted with here (mostly rakish, well-coiffed man baristas in button-down shirts) has been unfailingly, exceedingly nice. Nice Coffee is located in a small outdoor bar/kiosk outside of the City National building at City National Plaza. There are tables and chairs, sofa-type things, and overall it is a nice, tranquil little spot downtown where you can sip your coffee and get away from the grind of your job. The coffee is pretty good, too. The vanilla latte, $4.75, is my fave. They also sell an assortment of pastries and sandwiches if you get peckish on your break. The mortadella one was pretty good, although it needed to be warmed up or toasted. I'm a fan! read more
